not gonna lie??? the osemanverse fandom was so much more enjoyable before the heartstopper tv stuff started. like, obviously i’m so so happy and excited about the show, i’ll eat that shit up and cry for two weeks but also.. it used to be so much more private and safe (like, a safe space) in this fandom. there were so few active people and those only did cute stuff and i KNOW this is just part of media getting known but i’m still a bit nostalgic to pre-2021

i think my biggest problem is that alice oseman and especially heartstopper and solitaire are something so close and important and private to me that i just hate people bullshitting about it. oh to not get uncomfortable in a fandom <3 no more of that

Hey guys! I haven’t posted about this before on this blog, but this is just a post to say:

Please stop digging up my old art from this blog and posting it on Instagram. It makes me very uncomfortable and upset. My old art was from a much younger me experimenting with my style and sharing that with a much, MUCH smaller number of people in a private space. I never wanted this art to be shared with thousands of people on Instagram years later. Please stop posting my old art on Instagram or I will be forced to delete all my old art from this blog, or perhaps this blog entirely.

Hmmm perhaps it is okay when your aspec-ness is due to trauma

Perhaps its okay if you stop identifying as aspec for any reason, even if that reason is having gone through therapy

I know so many people push this narrative of us being fixable and needing therapy or to just get with the right person but the claim that being asexual or aromantic is never based on trauma or past experiences? its stopping people who could find solace in our community from feeling comfortable here

Sometimes trauma changes you in such a way that you no longer feel connected with a certain type of attraction and fear of "just being traumatized" shouldn't be a reason for people to hold back from identifying with an aspec identity if thats what their comfortable with and what describes them best

Y’all get that an asexual person headcanoning a character as ace is not the same thing as desexualizing, right? And that headcanoning a character as ace is not ‘infantilizing’ and saying so is like, extremely gross and rude to ace people.

People need to understand that being infantilizing about ace headcanons in and of itself is acephobic. Approaching ace characters as UwU soft beans who don’t know anything about the world around just because they are asexual, is also extremely terrible to ace people. 

Fundamentally asexuality is just about not experiencing sexual attraction, be that entirely or on a spectrum. That’s all. it doesn’t denote libido, knowledge, or personality. Anybody can be asexual. Just as such any character can be asexual. 

Making broad sweeping statements about ace headcanons is a shitty thing to do, and is an extremely rude thing to do to ace people who want to view characters like they view themself.
