There are SO many fucked-up things on Coruscant, but like. They are where they belong. at the deepest trenches. On Alderaan they are EVERYWHERE. What the hell is that? What is an owl?

Fox would hate owls. I got the shit scared out of me by an owl cause he landed in the tree behind me while I was on scaffolding and he wanted to screech about it and when I tell you that I almost fell out-

Weird animal noises are a sign of danger to any rational Coruscanti. Fox is not particularly rational but he is the one responsible for keeping the damn shinies in one piece and no shiny has ever had the sort of self-preservation instincts to equal your average lemming.

Fox hears an actual fox scream and nearly screams back at it. He does not understand why Bail and Breha are wheezing with laughter because clearly some rancor-type beast is about to come and start using the palace guards as a chew toy and they need to go. Need to go now. There has to be a bunker somewhere on space Australia. He would like them to show him immediately.

He never forgives foxes for sounding like that but it's all quickly forgotten about the first time he hears a cougar. He quite literally runs into its jaws because he's certain that it's Breha and he's going to very well square off against anything bothering her. The only thing bothering her is that her brand new husband is in medbay because he cold-cocked an apex predator.

She also thinks that's pretty hot of him so like. He's not in medbay for as long as he maybe should be but he's getting the best care iykyk

Oh, yeah, the actual Fox screams! I was in high school and out on a run during a night when I ran across one in the dark and I quite literally jumped out of my skin lmaoo. The funnies part about all of this, though? Alderaan is like. Space Switzerland. Not many actually really dangerous things around there. For Fox though, for the start of his life there? He's in the outback.

Actually the funniest way to settle this is if Kit, Fox's shiny/adopted son/light of his miserable existence, decides to haul ass on random cross-country adventures because he knows the planet is generally harmless.

Kit himself is not harmless, but he is fearless. There is nothing on Alderaan that scares him enough to keep him in the palace. Except for his dad, on occasion, but if Kit can get off the palace grounds before his dad finds out, Fox will be so relieved to see Kit safe, that Kit won't be in any trouble after.

Bail and Breha encourage Kit's life of sneakery and escapery. Fox doesn't know about that and honestly he doesn't need to. He's got enough going on.

WHAT OTHER REASON DO THEY HAVE TO SCREAM LIKE THAT. I am crying Fox PLEASE. I love how we have both given him a son! Kit sounds delightful actually, run fast boy, run far! The little tubie, Even, who I have given Fox and Bail and Breha is, like said, a literal tubie. He doesn't remember living on Kamino, though, so he's as native to Alderaan as one can get. When he's bigger he puts his hands into places Fox really doesn't want him to. Even sees a toad and wants to show it to Fox. As a gift! Fox is not thrilled but he is mildy impressed how his two-year-old managed to capture the ugly lump- Then it jumps on him.

Hey, I've got an animation question, if you would like.

I was just listening to the latest Overly Sarcastic Podcast episode, and they were talking about how hard it was to make sense of other artist's styles both before and after getting their own.

Since you seem to have your own style, is it difficult to match other's art styles when you're working with animated shows or projects? Like, was it difficult for you to adjust to the Rick & Morty style since you have your own?

well thankfully with Rick and Morty it's all puppet animation so the characters are already made, I just move them. though I do redraw a lot of hands so that's probably changed how I do hands XD

though with hand drawn shows i can imagine staying on model is tough, though it is something they really hammer into you that you remember it, as its one of the principles of animation. that's why you'll have character bibles to reference to make sure you're staying on model, we still have that ourselves

(unless you're working on Steven Universe, then they just kind of looked the other way XD)

Ok can I actually talk about this for a sec? Because I have so many thoughts on venat and hydaelyn and it makes me really emotional.

Like, this is all true. I love that you go through all of Elpis before even seeing the real Hydaelyn in EW because you see that god was once... a woman. A woman who liked dogs, and adventures, and beautiful landscapes, and teasing her friends. Combined with what happens to Minfilia, and what almost happens to Ryne and Krile, you as a character and player are actually kind of well-acquainted with what happens when a woman/girl is filled with so much love and so much self-sacrifice that she takes on powers far beyond her own in an attempt to set things right.

Venat became god willingly, but the circumstances were terrible. You see this with Minfilia too, and though I dislike that so much of her character is filtered through Thancred, the game makes it very clear that regardless of her acceptance of her fate that this is not fair. Minfilia had her whole life ahead of her as a leader and lover (of people and friends and family). Ryne, too, nearly gave herself up to a fate where she left behind the people and the world she cared about until Minfilia herself said no. Every time we see Krile possessed by Hydaelyn in EW we see her physically drained or flagging afterwards, but stonily determined to keep lending herself as a vessel because she thinks it’s the right thing to do.

I feel like when Venat, as God Herself, asks you to fight and kill her, she wants to break this cycle she started. In an extremely meta sense, it’s no more fridging. It ties perfectly into the core themes of Endwalker - those of persistence in the face of grief, of holding on to autonomy and hope. 

Venat sacrifices herself to become God, to ultimately prove a point about how sacrificing yourself for gods is unfair and ridiculous. I absolutely love it.

you are SO right, and this is very well-worded too! and ultimately this is why we fought primals too, it's an amplified, even more horrific manifestation of this same process. venat knew very well what she was doing (the dialogue in anamnesis anyder (i think?) makes the sacrificial aspect of both elidibus-as-zodiark and venat-as-hydaelyn obvious). she did all that specifically in hope that one day mankind wouldn't need to rely on apotheosis and rapture (= extreme example being the way eulmore worked under vauthry's rule) which........ once again the political aspect of it all...... damn

I love how Arakawa clearly wrote detailed backstories for her characters and just like… never elaborates on them. I found an old interview where she was asked why she didn’t include a resolution for Hawkeye and Mustangs goals and her response was essentially “cause this story is about Ed :)”

She’s my biggest inspiration.

The Tower (XVI) in tarot cards means sudden change, danger, destruction, higher learning.

Inspired by the famous Rider-Waite tarot card illustration and another explanation of the card, references the biblical story of the Tower of Babel, where God destroys a tower built by mankind to reach Heaven. Also the song Shadowbringers “we fall” played in my head while I was drawing this.

It reminded me of Amaurot on the final day. Emet-Selch, who once loved and fell, may be most suitable for this card.

There’s a nasty winter storm that’s going to hit most of the central regions of the US tomorrow (21 December 2022), especially tomorrow night. Please check your local forecasts if you live anywhere east of the rocky mountains, even down as far south as Texas. In some areas of the Plains region, windchill is likely to be -50F to -70F. That is so cold that you will develop frostbite in minutes. You will lose extremities without protection if you are exposed to windchill that cold. -70F is “surface of Mars” cold.

My part of the US is going to be below freezing all next week. This is normal for some. Not so normal for others.

If your area is likely to be impacted by the storm, please prepare now. The most important thing is staying warm and staying inside until things warm up outside. Specific tips I can offer, as somebody who regularly deals with cold winters are:

Put blankets over windows and doors. This will help your house retain heat.

Stay well-fed. Buy food now. You will get hungry faster because your body will burn calories to stay warm.

Stay hydrated. If your lips are chapped you’re probably dehydrated.

Stay dry. Remove wet clothing as soon as possible. It is better to be naked than wet when it is cold.

If it is going to get below freezing for more than an hour or two, run your water at a trickle or drip to prevent your pipes from bursting. The colder it gets the faster your pipes will freeze.
