Taking a tumblr break. The discourse is unbearable rn.
January was a tough year but we made it
i don't think people understand the irony of the date on this post. yes it's jan 31st and it's a mood so every jan 31st we reblog it. but guys. . . this was made in Jan 2020. By the first week of February covid numbers were finally starting to come out of china, by mid Feb Italy was shutting down and by the end of Feb half the world was entering their covid lockdowns. OP Jan may have be tough but you had a big storm coming

i prommy i mean this as a compliment but you truly just look like an average central coast girly to me. incredible
I am taking this as a compliment, however.....
🤔 what gives central coast specifically? Why do I look more Monterey or Pismo than I do Santa Monica or San Francisco?
Okay this encouraged me to make my take of a map on California's subdivisions that I know is gonna make everyone mad
As someone whose roadtripped through the state a lot, this is where you feel the shifts- where everything becomes visually and viscerally different in the way you navigate it, how you interact with people, and what the climate is like. I think a lot of city Californians lump the rural areas together more than they should be, bc there's very distinctly 4 mostly-rural subregions of California (Oregon 2.0, Sierras, central valley, and desert) that you cannot lump together.
Then again, I have more bias about ecology and climate than most people. Gonna make a reblog explaining some of the boundaries and why I put them there.
wake up everybody new reaction image just dropped
The best part of this is Denji’s not being in kanji bc he’s illiterate
nobody is a child abuser until they abuse a child. repeat it. REPEAT IT. INTERNALIZE IT. NOBODY IS A CHILD ABUSER UNTIL THEY ABUSE A CHILD. and EVERYONE i mean EVERY SINGLE ADULT has the full capacity to be a child abuser because thats how the oppression of children works. There is no boogeyman. There is no deviant sexuality or identity or pathologization or diagnosis. There is a society built on the physical, emotional, and sexual abuse and exploitation of children. You are probably complicit. So stop hunting for the evil boogeyman and learn to fucking read.
Growing up in an extremely homophobic and transphobic environment, all I ever heard about lgbt people as a whole is that we're all pedophiles who are only like this because we were sexually abused as kids by other pedophiles who permanently corrupted us. Of course, this was happening in an environment of intense child abuse, in an extremely strict, consciously patriarchal environment where I and other kids were ourselves personally, physically, and sexually abused by the same adults that had been proclaiming message after message about the lgbt pedo menace, and they were able to get away with this legally and socially because all this happened in the "proper" institutions of the family, of the church, of the state. Their sexual abuse of children was deemed acceptable because they had a "right" to our bodies, unlike the nefarious pedophile menace they repeatedly polemicised against.
Now, as an adult far removed from that situation and environment, I am instead surrounded by paranoid tme people doing the exact same thing, continuing to accuse trans women of being dangerous pedophiles, continuing to accept the idea that pedophiles even exist in the particular form which has become so ideologically dominant in broader thought and discourse today, parroting the exact same messages as every stereotypical "conservative Republican grandpa that watches Fox News." And just like the people who sexually abused me and so many other kids, they feel morally justified in doing this, because they're "protecting us" from the "foreign pedophile menace" while inflicting so much harm on us. It's the exact same homophobic and transphobic attack, but its point has been refined, sharpened, rendered more precise so as only to serve the function of exorcising trans women from public life.
Regardless of the actual debate, I do appreciate a few hundred tumblr users announcing themselves as extremely prone to engage in reactionary hate campaigns. These are the people who will gleefully bully trans women off the internet in the name of "stopping pedophilia" and they just made the task of blocking them all a little bit easier.
Joint slay-accounts, ft. @understanding-the-past-is-key
Men are allowed in sports, I am not.
Men are not V coded, I am.
The average man never gets raped, I've been sexually harrased plenty.
Cis Men get paid more than cis women, I get paid less than both.
Whether you're my greatest ally or my biggest hater, there is not a single person on this earth who genuinely thinks I am a man. Everyone knows I'm a woman who can be tormented freely.
Society only thinks trans women are men for the purpose of barring them from support systems that women made for each other
Society doesn't need to think of trans women as men in order to not think of them as women, though.
Entirely true point and a much needed correction on mine
I wish we could teach each other how to love the way we can teach animals that aren’t supposed to be able to feel it.
@kaijutegu is this cute? I know you deal with tegus and not iguanas, but I didn't know who else to ask
This is precious.
So, first thing you need to know is that is a very visibly healthy adult green iguana. Every part of the iguana is sharp. The claws evolved to haul a ten pound lizard up a tree. The spines are like tiny icepicks. The tail is a bullwhip. The teeth evolved to shred leaves, but they'll just as easily shred your flesh. Good luck making a healthy adult iguana do anything they don't wanna. That puts us on our first thing to look at- is the animal capable of defense and getting away, physically? Yes, definitely.
Next thing to know is what does a threatened or scared iguana look like? When an iguana is threatened, it doesn't stand on its hind legs like that; it stands on all fours and puffs itself up to look bigger, aggressively bobs its head (note: head bobbing is a behavior used for a LOT of things, it does need context- for example, they also head bob as part of mating displays), there is hissing, there is tail whipping- iguanas are not subtle creatures. None of this is the behavior of an iguana that feels threatened or is being a threat!
So what does standing like that mean? That's just simple reaching. The iguana sees something they want and is attempting to reach it, and what they want appears to be uppies, because they settle into the human's grip immediately.
Then, we see some GREAT handling from the human. There's really great communication happening between the two of them! The person picks up the iguana very securely- pelvis and pectoral girdles are well supported, and he doesn't grab. (Iguanas typically do NOT like being grabbed around the sides; many of their predators are birds and coming at them from above or gripping the sides is scary!)
As he goes in for the pet, he lets the iguana support their back half on his knee. The hold is secure but not tight; at any point, if the iggy was distressed, they could leave. But they don't- instead, you see them leaning into the pets, actively participating in the behavior. They're not even closing their eyes to block stimulus. They want this to happen.
This is the kind of bond that's possible when you can prove to a big lizard that you're trustworthy, and easily the best iguana video I've seen in a long time. Thank you for tagging me in!
Some green iguana body language resources under the jump!
does the egg prime directive apply to other queer identities or is trans the only one it's okay to perceive as harmful?
All the people in the notes saying 'that's too busy'... maybe this post just wasn't aimed at you.
"That's Too Busy." So sorry you were raised on Landlord White with occasional forays into Shades Of Beige and can't handle patterns or saturation in your colors.
My problem with the second one isn't that it's busy, it's that it's AI slop, I mean look at it, the sink bowl isn't even under the faucet, I begging to know what are y'all seeing when you look at this?
#AI AI AI #can not believe y'all folks think 2nd one is a real room #how is the mirror reflecting the shower at a 90 degree angle from it #hell of a mess on the counter when you turn on the faucet #but your sink basin sure to stay dry as f*ck #everyone on this site: "go to literal hell if you ever opened ChatGPT" #everyone on this site: *reblogs the most physically-impossible shit you've ever seen as long as they like the palette* #IT'S AI
1) The sink does have a basin. It's hard to tell because of the low resolution of the screenshot, the foreshortened angle of the counter, and the fact that there's plenty of lighting coming straight from above so there isn't much of a shadow. It's visible as a very flattened oval that doesn't reflect the wall tiles as clearly as the rest of the counter:
2) That is how mirrors work! They can reflect things that are seemingly not in their "line of sight" because light is funny like that. Here's my own bathroom. Notice how a bit of the back wall is visible in the mirror, despite it being tucked waaaay back behind that sloped wall.
I encourage you to find a mirror and test this for yourself! Stand at 90 degrees to it, and see how it reflects things that are 90 degrees in the opposite direction.
Anyway, I don't think this is AI. I don't see any obvious tells, but I do see a LOT of things that AI would have a very difficult job getting right -- including the mirror, ironically. Look at the green tiles lining the arch of the tub, and their reflection in the mirror. They're different, as they should be: the mirrored ones are at more of an angle due to perspective. I could point out plenty of other things too.
Yeah that is most likely NOT ai and I am deeply concerned that people are going to increasingly make this mistake just because they don't always realize what reality looks like :(

Perhaps hunting for AI like medieval peasants is going to end up with everyone just being dicks to each other instead of like actually achieving anything
That's awesome.
It might also be the clearest evidence I've ever seen for a theory I read a while back that a lot of American Southern accents are Scottish and Irish accents that have been slowed down.
honestly the fact that when our mutuals who are women (trans or not) make posts talking about transandrophobia not being real they get hate anons and shunned from entire friendgroups about it meanwhile when we, a trans man, make posts about it the worst thing we get is a stupid comment on the post is proof that trans men do in fact have male privilege and people are more willing to listen to us, as men, over women
a trans woman will make a post explaining how transandrophobia is not real and she will be attacked and harassed, usually adding to the already existing campaign(s) to harass her off the platform. a trans man will make the same post and get people in their notes asking them if theyre okay and being like "i dont know.... it doesnt make sense..." and thats the worst of it
misogynistic trans men have latched onto the concept of transandrophobia so incredibly hard, in order to freely harass women (especially trans women) and to have some sort of oppression olympics "gotcha" in response to any criticism. they are, very VERY openly using the term as a defence, harassing (trans) women under the claim of "defending themselves" from this mysterious non-existent oppression. (and, primarily, under the guise of ""protecting the queer community from predators"", but thats just transmisogyny, and is a whole other post.)
...as for the rest of the users of the term, if you can continue to support and use the word after being made aware of all of this, you're clearly unwilling to grow and, in our eyes, completely complacent in the hate campaigns you're spreading by using it. please, please, PLEASE, if you care about trans women, reconsider your usage of these words. from one trans man to another, please.
Very generally speaking, when you see a black man in a piece of media, be it tv show, movie, video game, etc. there’s something you often see a lot of writers do. To go against the stereotype of black men (and black people in general) being dumb and lazy, you’ll see this black male character being smart and an achiever.
The Black Nerd. A common character type, the nerd will always be very interested in all things nerdy: science, video games, mathematics, etc. In an continued effort to combat stereotypes, the Black Nerd will be lack athleticism, probably being asthmatic (the nerdiest of conditions). The Black Nerd will dress smartly, suspenders and bow ties. They’ll always talk smart too, using proper English with complex words.
Now, I don’t have a problem with a black character being a nerd, indeed black people are a people; we aren’t all the same and we all have varying personalities. The problem I have is that too often we see a distinct disconnect between Blackness and the Black Nerd. The Black Nerd doesn’t listen to hip hop or rap, only classical music. The Black Nerd only has white friends, the only other black characters are into not nerdy stuff. The Black Nerd never ever uses AAVE at any time in any context.
And again I must say that Black people, not being a monolith, there are no hard fast rules to being Black. I’m more than sure there are Black people like what I’ve described above, I’m not saying it’s impossible; what I’m getting at is that the only Black Nerd we see. There are Black Nerds that play basketball, that bump Kendrick Lamar, and use AAVE since it’s an ever changing dialect. I’m just saying there’s no one way of being a nerd and no one way of being Black.
Well @dumbey, seems we’re in similar boats
I'm currently betatesting a new add-on to make replying much more efficient for trans femmes on tumblr
This post is a joke, but if I made this for real, I'd of course make it scrape their profile for pronouns. There's too many cute trans mascs and enbies and such to make this a trans femme-only thing.
I really need this feature now because I keep browsing Tumblr from bed and I've only got one hand (I'm disabled, not masturbating) so it's not easy to tell people they're cute
