One time a (former) member of my DnD party submitted AI art of his aasimar character (the rest of the group is made of professional artists and tech guys who know better) and it had - among other monstrosities - a torso made entirely of endless abs and serratus muscles wrapping around his whole body and we roasted him for half an hour straight, and now to our horror the DM describes all angels in the world as having "biblically accurate abs" and we know exactly what that entails.
Well...I haven't used this account in a thousand years but here's what I've been working on!
Just pouring all my art into this for the last few years. We're a couple of months away from launching :D
Match gems, level up, and date wizards in this match-3 visual novel with a lot of heart and a little spice. Form deep relationships with fae
You can date everyone at the same time, or just be friends, the boyfriends can be boyfriends, the exes can be reunited, the enemies can become lovers. We read too much romantasy and then made this. š¤·āāļø
A witch for Inktober! I just did the one.

This was one of the pencils :)
Iām believing this from now on. >:D
The Sheikah Slate was a LITTLE disappointing, I have to say.
Continuing my Yoshitaka Amano style emulation from earlier⦠the Crystal Gems! SO MANY ROSETTES AND STRIPES. My hand is falling off now.

I canāt remember the last thing I reblogged this quickly - these are AMAZING <3

I had a lot of fun with this on twitter, so I just kept on going with it. But you know, Iām always kind of touched by how strongly fans support their favourite characters, and there is a lot of love for Cloak and Dagger, and you can see why because there are some pretty great things about that pair. But that costume, come on, itās a big old slice of tit window pie. They donāt always dress Dagger like that, but yeah they mostly do! But they probably wonāt on the tv show! I didnāt dwell on Cloak very much in a comic about tit windows, but, hereās something. I tweeted this essay a while ago when I read it, but Cloakās lack of a body really brought it to mind again, and you should totally read it, though mostly it is about the character Cyborg, it is relevant here too: Humanity Not Included: DCās Cyborg and the Mechanization of the Black Body by Robert Jones, Jr.
imgur website + /w5kzEJp PERIOD jpg. I'd have to say some AAA games do fit this bill.. thoughts?
I think somebody has an axe to grind against microtransactions and is looking for some validation. Hereās the image in question:
So first off, the meme is disingenuous in its message. The meme-maker never actuallyĀ purchased anything; this is a screenshot of the UI from a Free to Play mobile game called āAsphalt 8ā³, by Gameloft. Itās currently available at the App store and via Google Play. Weāve already established that in-app purchases are probably going to be there because (as we have firmly established in the past) money has to be made somewhere and the game is free. But letās break the meme down a bit further.
The purpose of the game is to race cars on tracks to earn currency with which to buy more cars and tracks. One can spend real dollars to purchase more cars and/or tracks. That is really no different than Gran Turismo, Forza, Mario Kart, or really any other racing style game that offers paid DLC. As a racing game, a lot of the UI is going to be dedicated to displaying information about your cars, your tracks, and your statistics. Here is Asphalt 8ā²s:
The sections in red are, of course, things that lead to in-app purchases or managing in-game currency. This is where they offer you new tracks and featured cars. The sections in greenĀ are buttons to immediately race. The meme tried to downplay the one in the lower left, but itās there. Finally, all of the sections in blue are dedicated to showing you pertinent information, not selling in-app purchases or handling in-game currency. These show things like options, leaderboards, what cars you own and their stats, and so on.
Letās compare this to the UI for a AAA racing game like Gran Turismo 5:
Using the same breakdown, weāve got the blue still representing player info, the red representing options to spend game currency, and the green to actually start the game. The overall menu favors theĀ āimmediately playā much more, but the overall is not that far removed from Asphalt 8. This isnāt so different from other games that feature a similar emphasis on statistics, play, and the spending of currency:
As I said, the meme itself is disingenuous. Itās conflating any element that isnāt āstart gameā withĀ āGIVE US YOUR MONEYā, and thatās unfair. If you look at AAA games, they certainly have some elements of it but I donāt think itās as oppressive as the meme makes it out to be. Heck, even Doom II only had two out of five choices in the main menu to immediately start playing - New Game and Load Game. 60% of that menu doesnāt lead to gameplay!
In all seriousness, if you donāt like microtransactions or in-app purchases youāll probably want to avoid certain genres of games that have wholly embraced them as a business model. Sports, racing, MMOs, or any game with a heavy ācollectibleā emphasis will probably feature them, because they want to make it easy for players who want to buy things to be able to do so. But I donāt really think that the meme maker has a point other thanĀ āI really donāt like microtransactionsā. I understand not liking something and do sympathize, but there are a lot of people out there who are voting with their wallets. In-app purchases and microtransactions are here to stay.
This breakdown is awesome. The power of UI layouts!!!

Thanks for answering the other day. I hope you and Harmonic collaborate on a Skyborn sequel someday.
^_^ You and me both!!Ā
Echoes of Aetheria: Did you do any work for it?
I did some contract work (character portraits), back when development began in 2014 ^_^ Other than that, I had very little involvement with the project. Looking forward to playing it now that itās out!!!
Iāve been gone! This is where! From now until March Iām trying to complete one story sequence a week. Some are mine, others (like this) are stories I love and want a shot at re-imagining.
Thoughts!
1. The frosty setting is more symbolic than historically accurateāHamilton and Burr dueled in July.
2. My goal was to finish the boards in a week. It took five days! My speed is improving.
3. When there is a Hamilton movie, it shouldnāt look anything like this. Just wanted to stretch my imagination a little. The best presentation for this monologue is one actor under a spotlight in a dark theater. @linmanuel @leslieodomjr hope you donāt mind the creative liberties. Your performances on the soundtrack are outstanding!
