hey reminder that connecting humanity is extremely low on esims rn and desperately needs esim donations and also that there are a lot of cool things you can get in exchange for a donation
This is your reminder that without eSims, many people in Gaza cannot reach the rest of the world. To their loved ones overseas to the people who have donated to their fundraisers hoping to keep them alive. The Israeli government has issued repeated communications blackouts, trying to cut us off from Gaza. Even when there are not "official" blackouts, telecommunications are dangerous; Palestinians like Medo have died in makeshift tent cafes trying to access the internet and reach us. In Gaza, infrastructure has been severely damaged, despite the brave and hard work of people in Paltel on the ground. Do not think that because you read a headline about a communications blackout ending, eSims are not needed; Israel has already laid groundwork to cut Gazans off from the world - eSims work independent from the Israeli government and can provide data and phone service, an essential lifeline.
If the process of donating an eSim yourself seems daunting, you can contribute to the Crips for eSims fund directly here:
Crips for eSims for Gaza is a collaboration between Jane Shi, Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, and Alice Wong.
are you still taking donations for esims? I can't buy them myself directly but really want to help.
yes, I am!
for anyone unaware--I have a fund set up, and I buy esims and top them up out of that fund. I get eSims to people in Gaza (and refugees in Egypt) in three ways--via Connecting Humanity ([email protected]), via Gaza Online, and directly, through my contact in Gaza.
you can donate to my eSim fund through venmo (@gothhabiba), cashapp ($NajiaK), or paypal (paypal.me/Najia). use tagline "esims" or something similar, because otherwise I assume all donations are for Mohammad Abu Hamam's fundraiser.
you can also donate to eSim funds run by Crips for eSims for Gaza or Gaza Online.
if you don't have eSim money, you can still help out the effort by flyering.
Hey guys, BeitElbaraka is a Lebanese nonprofit that is currently working to provide basic necessities to the displaced people from southern Lebanon like food and mattresses. You can help by donating through their website (select South Lebanon Aid) and please spread the word. Israel had displaced well over 100,000 people in recent months and this number is only going to increase now.

Im not autistic about cars or makes or models but I AM autistic about crumple points and field of vision and blindspots and conflict points. do you understand. urban design, anti car dependency/anti car centric infrastructure, and so cars themselves are part of that interest. because car design is urban design. cybertrucks SUCK as cars and also dont function well in infrastructure thats designed to care about people. there are good cars and vehicles that are designed good and fit well with good urban design
THIS is how im autistic about cars
the funniest thing about new american trucks is that i was driving last week and saw someone with a dirt bike in the back and they had to have the tail gate propped open becuase the truck bed wasn’t long enough. the dirt bike was not that big. it was funny. you bought that car justifying to yourself that it’s a work horse, a ute. it doesn’t fit a 250cc bike brother
chiming in to point out that forward visibility in full-size american pickups is uh. not great.
I have PERSONALLY had to move/haul heavy shit a lot and the vans with the short noses beat the hell out of the pickups, except for when you’re off-roading/in mud and in that case it’s a matter of low center of gravity + 4wd that really keeps you moving (which a lot of older trucks, being smaller & lower, do a HELL of a lot better.) I have had to GET OUT OF MY CAR and peer around these behemoth trucks parked on streets so that I can see enough to pull out of a driveway. Pedestrian deaths in the US are going UP, and as a person too short to be seen over the hood of one of these fucking things, they need to NOT be a “consumer ‘car’ of choice”.
If you live in the US contact your representatives about HB 9408, the Pedestrian Protection Act to establish certain safety standards and disclose certain information relating to pedestrians and motor vehicles, and for other purposes. It was introduced by Pennsylvania district 5 representative Mary Scanlon on August 23, 2024

Here's a list of fundraisers from Palestinians who have reached out to me. I'm not Palestinian, but to the best of my knowledge, all campaigns listed have been verified by Palestinians on Tumblr. This list updates daily, so be sure to check back. If you follow me, follow these folks too.
If you can't donate, reblog.

White people are gonna make a bunch of jokes and memes about what was said during the debates, on the basis that they are too "absurd" and "silly" for anyone to take seriously
And then wonder why antiblack(immigrant) hate crimes are on the rise
It's been a few days, since then we've seen White libs go far and beyond defending why they should joke around about this in order to "diminish it's impact"
Meanwhile, Haitians(Black ppl alike) are getting bomb threats in their communities, and politicians are threatening to mass deport them
Today's vetted fundraisers
I am Nevin Al-Sir, I live in Gaza, I am 27 years old, I used to work as an accountant in an accounting firm, I am married and have a child, I was also pregnant during the war, the war on Gaza, and when the evacuation order came from our area in Gaza, we fled through the corridor that the occupation lied to us about and the safe corridor was a disaster. We walked on foot, the longest distance I have ever walked in my life. I was displaced to a tent with the rest of my family, and it was very difficult, tiring and exhausting. Every time there was an evacuation in the southern areas, I was forced to evacuate again to a worse tent. Then I gave birth to my child in a field hospital because the hospitals were out of service. I gave birth to my son in the winter, the cold and the war together, which did not destroy my house and my tent. Now we live in a tent, me, my mother, my father, my husband, my brothers, my sisters and their children, and I need your support to try to survive.

This campaign is also listed as #314 on the verified fundraiser list vetted by el-shab-hussein and nabulsi.
It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. Slowly, collectively, we can make a difference in these people's lives. Share and donate as much as you can. https://docs.google.com/document/d/178EGDFKkHlh3y4TMVX82kqgITHsqtoMdNccI2f_94Os/edit?usp=sharing

the u.s. army did this in vietnam too
from the book Kill Anything That Moves: The Real American War in Vietnam by Nick Turse
”Agencies say the number of those killed sits at 20k, but it’s estimated that it’s actually at 40k” it’s actually estimated to be in the hundred thousands at this point. Because Palestinians get killed every single day. Because Israel has not been ceasing its relentless terrorism for months, yet we’re still in the “ceasefire talks” stage. Because it has been demonstrated over & over by most of the world that no one actually, truly gives a fuck for Arab lives.
This is why a lot of emphasis has been put on evacuating families — because it has become clear that this relentless slaughter isn’t stopping anytime soon. Reducing Palestinians’ only lifeline to safety at the moment to scams of an inconvenience on your dash is cruel. They need the help. The evacuation deadline is coming up. It’s urgent because it is. It’s not about your comfort or what’s convenient for you at this point.
Asking you guys to push back against this mentality by donating to Mohammad’s and Shaima’a fundraiser. This fundraiser accounts for two families, each of which has 5 children, and they’ve recently been displaced due to the horrific bombardments in Khan Younis. It shouldn’t be normalized to look at so much suffering then move on as if you’re none the wiser. This family has been through everything you can think of and more. Please donate and share.
