July 22, 2026 - People around the USA are taking down Flock AI surveillance cameras. [video]
Find license plate readers (LPRs) near you.
direct action works!!
physically interfering with the cameras is highly effective but obviously it's not a type of activism that's accessible to everyone — so if like me you think warrentless surveillance is never ever ever a reasonable thing for a government to do, but you're also like me and can't personally climb camera poles to dismantle that shit:
check out the August 16-22 week of action!
Mass surveillance doesn't equal safety. Join the movement to dismantle automated license plate readers in our communities.
big and small cities all over the US (and one so far in Canada!) are holding events like education sessions, marches, and public lobbying meetings with the local governments and police departments that decide whether to spend taxpayer money on warrantless surveillance. maybe my city and yours can join the nearly 100 places that have already rejected or ended contracts for mass privacy violation cameras.
June and July are the same months btw. They want you to think they're two different months but it's the same month that's 60 days long. Same way August is actually August and the first half of September
Even if biological sex really existed it would be necessary to abolish it
not remotely how this scene went
"we teach kids about sex at 13-16, any earlier and it can actually scare them" protestant american spotted!! We learned in grade 5 (age 10) and I knew what it was for years prior uwu
When I was 8 I fully knew what sex was and the sum total of my thoughts was "that sounds gross. Hey can I play Pokemon now"
Any kid who has unfixed pets or lives in the general vicinity of a farm knows what sex is by the time they're five or six. I knew about it at four because I have a little sister and my parents were normal about explaining what the hell was going on with my mom's abdomen, why we were prepping the house for a baby and when she'd be arriving.
My thoughts on the matter were mostly "Oh yeah, like on PBS Nature. Cool. I'm gonna go dig a hole for fun now."
To add to this, when I was being taught in 4th grade, up until that point anything relating to the subject of sex ed was heavily censored; so for our very first day of sex ed, we were going in blind.
My classmates and I had such a terrible reaction to the information because you could tell that,
a.) the teachers were uncomfortable and b.) it was explained to us in a very dramatic and grotesque way.
This is a perfect example of how censorship and mishandling information can cause reactions that specific groups of people claim are accurate for all children. It was almost comical how when we reached middle school sex ed, you could tell which of us had that experience and who didn't.
Fast forward to when I worked as a babysitter, the 6 and 3 year olds I was caring for asked me to read them a book on where babies come from.
Children value transparency and recognize when something is stigmatized.
wait all this talk about a hypothetical Scott and Kip divorce got me thinking…
Imagine Scott’s at an all star game, drunk off his ass at the bar. Shane walks in and leans on the bar and Scott notices that Shane’s not wearing his wedding ring. Shane always wears his ring off the ice, there have been fucking articles about how Ilya wears his on a chain and Shane doesn’t
Scott audibly sighs and Shane looks over at him. Scott’s too drunk not to say, “Fuck, sorry, I’m just so glad I’m not alone. When did it happen? It was the fucking media, right? That was part of it for us. All this pressure to be perfect. Who can live up to that?”
Shane’s like, “Uh. What?”
Scott’s like, “Sorry. Probably still fresh, huh? It is for me. I’m just glad I won’t be the only gay divorcé in the league. Hey maybe we could time our announcements so they come out at the same time? Soften the blow for each other? Or, no, that could get political fast” Scott keeps drunkenly rambling on
Shane’s just standing there, panicked, trying to figure out the best way to break the news that the only reason he’s not wearing his wedding ring is because it really breaks his immersion in their roleplay that he’s a random slut Ilya’s picking up at the bar
apparently vic’s vapor rub goes exitinct ? i’ve been using the same vapor rub for years and apparenlty it went bad in the 2010s ..
expired .
I'm just saying, if you're going to worldbuild magic being a "raw, primal force, akin to and interweaving with nature itself" you gotta explain to me why animals don't use it
I know the normal answer is "they just aren't smart enough for it" but idk I've seen enough media where a character uses a spell in a moment of brain-off panic ilI feel like animals could probably stumble into a spell or two like, accidentally
Also how funny would it be to see a completely normal regular bear cast magic missile outta nowhere
Also there is no way ravens wouldn't figure out spells, tbh
They're smart fuckin birds, I believe in them
Either through observing or just figuring shit out ravens could 100% learn how to cast spells I'm sure of it
Dogs can also cast Magic Missile but every time they do the projectile is shaped like a bone or a stick and they chase after it
group of wizards who ask this in-universe, and after extensive study learn to their surprise that animals are casting spells all the time, just that their magic is so fundamental as to be unrecognizable to humans. turns out the only reason acorns grow on trees is because squirrels keep wishing for them.
nip over to troy, bit of rough and tumble, big horse, bish bash bosh, back home to ithaca. simple as
I do really love it when women write graphic and fucked up things. I feel like so often people react to fucked up fiction with “of course a disgusting man would write this 🙄” and it often carries an unspoken (honestly sometimes spoken) message of “a woman’s PURE and DELICATE and FEMININE mind could NEVER think of something this VILE”. Thank you women in fucked up fiction 🫡
Fucked up fiction by women you should 100% read:
okay this is a list of exclusively bangers, not even counting the fact that WE HEXED THE MOON is on here which obviously makes me feel joyous. but kushiel's dart fuckin RULES as did on sundays she picked flowers and patricia wants to cuddle. 10/10 no notes
Fuck it, post lamb stew slow cooker recipe
How high was I last night?
How much lamb stew did I want to make??
1,814¾ lbs of Lamb????
>960 cups beef broth >2 bay leaves
the unfathomable power of bay leaf
Burden bearing hips
It used to be feminism 101 that using male terms by default is bad, but then trans women wanted a piece of that pie and suddenly everyone becomes philosophers and etymologists discussing the nuances of language instead of just listening to women
spent forty-five minutes today helping an 87yo woman who does not own a computer or a cell phone try to set up an email account so that she could then set up a second account in order to access benefits. went with protonmail, because they don't require 2fa, but it turns out that while you can still make a protonmail account without authentication you can no longer use it to create OTHER accounts without it, and the benefits page she needed to get to required both an email and a cell phone to create an account anyway. asked if she wanted to try going in person to see if someone there could help her, and she said that she had, and they'd directed her to the website. she tried signing up with her landline, but of course that didn't work because you can't do SMS authentication that way. finally ended up writing up detailed instructions for how to log in and authenticate her account so she can drive to her severely disabled daughter's house forty minutes away because that's the only person she knows and trusts who has both a cell phone and a computer.
anyway i fucking hate mandatory 2fa and i think the people responsible for it should have to spend a year navigating their lives with no cell phone and no internet access beyond the public library pcs. fuck.
I absolutely adore dogs but I think dog haters are (usually) more justified than cat haters wrt their reasoning
your average cat hater: I don't like how they r bitchy and ignore me/ won't let me manhandle them
your average dog hater: I have been mortally endangered by an ill-trained dog
Your father use to roleplay as a tape worm for my pleqsure
hope he did a good job at least. Didn't embarrass the whole family.
He strutted his shit kinda
