My friend @milkweedtussocktubers had made a post about this, but I am making one on my own account because the situation is increasingly dire.
Basically, my friend took us in on their farm when we were professionally evacuated from a red state due to the rise of fascism. Upon our arrival, the org that evacuated us and was set to resettle us instead left us with a veteran member (@remy-the-railroader) of theirs when her disability became too serious for the org to continue working her like they were. That was a whole ordeal on its own, but shortly before we got her back home, my friend got into a wreck with an 18-wheeler, leaving us all without transportation, and then the electricity in the house entirely shat the bed. Like. Electricity arcing, and the house had to be shut down for safety concerns.
Right now, we are living with their disabled father, and frankly, he does not want us here. Tensions are running high, and everyone's mental health is declining sharply, leading to some of us becoming suicidal.
Our priority is getting the electricity fixed. My friend has applied to every applicable program, grant, etc to help with this, and thus far has gotten nothing. Fixing the electricity will allow us to have a safe, warm place to stay with enough space. It will allow us to vacate a home we are firmly not welcome in and continue to work the farm.
The farm is over 100 acres of land that my friend has worked very hard to heal. They've spent years removing invasive species, planting native species, and welcoming endangered species back to the land. We are a trans household, 2/3 of us fresh out of evacuating. The extent of the electrical repairs needed amounts to us needing about $4,500 for repairs. We have recieved $374 to put towards this rn.
