Why I despise Hinata after the s*it show she pulled against Pain - a rant.

People seem to love Hinata because she was "so brave" and wanted to "protect" Naruto, but that's bulls*it. She just showed her selfishness and attention seeking behavior, but people are so blinded by their love towards her, that they can't see the facts that manga showed us.

What is Narutos biggest nightmare? Being the nine tail fox. He is terrified because people see him as a destructive force that he is fighting his whole life to suppress.

Since first chapter we know that Naruto doesn't want to destroy the village nor to kill people. He is fighting his whole life just to prove to people he is not a demon fox.

He wants to become Hokage and prove himself as a protector, not a destroyer.

In first chapters we see that Naruto just wants to be loved, accepted and SEEN, but not AS A FOX, AS NARUTO.

So what our selfish princess gonna do with it?

Show him love and support when he needs it, like after Jirayas death? No.

She will jump into a fight she has no chance in to confess her attention seeking "love" and comit su*cide in front of Naruto. In front of a child that wants love above anything else. A child that lives for a tiniest substitute of love. What did she expect? To win? No. Everyone knows she has no chance. To help Naruto? I'll show how she "helped" in a second.

She is selfish, she said it herself and I hate her for what she did.

Her "help" just resulted in Naruto losing all control and letting Kurama out. Because of Hinata, Naruto became the thing he tried HIS WHOLE LIFE to prove his not.

He is in pain. He's hurting.

He is giving up and allowing Kurama to take over and to destroy the village. His whole life of being hated is coming back to him and he is turning into a monster that destroyed the village 16 years ago when he was born.

Because of Hinata, Naruto is becoming a monster that is about to kill everyone and destroy everything. That's what she did.

But luckily we have Minato, the person who really saved Naruto in that situation. The person that Naruto is thanking for saving him.

But let's see how he feels about what Hinata did to him?

"You did that."

Naruto is so terrified that HE destroyed the village, that he really IS THE MONSTER that's killed a person that "loves" him and destroyed whole village.

He is holding his heart, he is in such mental pain that it's hurts him physically.

Hinata almost ruined Naruto and everything he worked for. She is a terrible person for what did to him. If not for Minato that stopped him, Naruto would destroy everything and hate himself.

And Naruto we know would rather die, than hurt people he cares about and Konoha.

So no, Hinata didn't "save him", she destroyed him into pieces that Minato had to put back.

And that's not the only person that was hurt by her selfishness, but who cares about her guard that literally told her he would be punished if she got hurt, who cares about others, right? It doesn't matter as long as Hinata had her selfish "love" confession, right?

I hate her, I really do. She's a selfish person that's hurts everyone along her way, just to get what she wants.

Ehhhh, I dunno, man. Calling Hinata "selfish", when everything about this entire story arc screamed "desperate times, call for desperate measures" is really weird.

Plus, it needs to be considered that, Hinata is definitely not stupid or spineless when she did that, she knew exactly what she was doing. If even Sage chakra wasn't enough to get Pain to submit, what else were they supposed to do?

And let's be honest, by this point in the story, it was gradually about time for Naruto to start accepting the fact that, he might not be at fault when others get hurt, because of this beast inside him, but to honor all that they had to put up with him, he must finally take responsibility for that thing living inside him. This was the starting point. This entire scenario, to me, came off as Hinata wanting to signal him: Don't hold back, Naruto, just go for it. Screw the village, win for us. For me. Don't let what I have done be in vain.

Because by willingly allowing it to break out (don't act like Naruto is the misunderstood one here, he willingly allowed this fox demon to take control of him, for far less than what happened to Hinata, so can it with the whole "he never wanted to be a monster", Shippuden actively showed him willingly accepting it, if it meant winning), specifically against Sasuke, Deidara, Orochimaru and Pain, had nearly resulted in the death of others, specifically on the sidelines. I doubt that Hinata wanted to willingly hurt him by doing this, she was being purely pragmatic in that moment. She couldn't possibly predict that even that would fail, she isn't a fortune teller, Pain really was, a class entirely on his own.

Listen, we can discuss a lot about Hinata's lack of proper characterization in Shippuden, trust me, she barely has any (and it pisses me off, too), but that moment, was speaking to her merits, I don't see how "this is her being selfish". Why even bring that up in a situation, where everyone was already at a loss there? If it meant winning, who cares? And they survived, because of her sacrifice. And Minato was ramming the final nail in the coffin to ensure their victory.

Plus, let's be absolutely real for a second, man. Hinata? Selfish? Two words that frankly don't belong in the same sentence, in fact, if we were add that romance angle with Naruto, she never once complained about Naruto being in love with Sakura, she was never mad or jealous about it, she just took it the way it came. You can't force someone to love you back, and this is part of her character.

But oh wait, let me take a wild guess here, and say: If Hinata has a moment of character weakness, not OOC, but literally showing a wider range of emotions and actions that may seem shitty at first glance, but are purely human, and more than understandable, actions that remind us: She is just a girl, with every-day needs, who can also get really annoyed on her worst days. Hypothetically, let's say, she does get jealous with Sakura over Naruto, the older she becomes, would you still call that "selfish", when she is literally in love with the man, and he is really frustrating to deal with, because he is very slow on the draw, and cannot take hints to save his life...

...is she still the oh so selfish monster that you try to paint her as? Would you have done any better?

No, no, no, I don't mind the length, you made me see things from a different perspective, and in a way, I am inclined to agree. I am not one of those Hinata fans, who hate being in the wrong, no one is ever truly 100% right, so... Thank you.

But then, if everything you said was applied, it means that, in the process of giving her character, once again, Kishimoto shat the bed. I mean, we can clearly pardon a little selfishness on her end in Part 1, because, she is a lovestruck teen, of course she would be selfish without immediately realizing it, Sakura is no different at first. And considering the life she lived, I will not fault her for being a little bit more possessive than others, she was literally treated like human garbage by her own family, thinking "she doesn't deserve anything", it WILL create cognitive dissonance for sure, in the future.

Too bad, this was never once talked about, and in Shippuden, Hinata never once grew past all this, or grew even a little self-aware. And due to her criminal lack of screentime, and interactions with Naruto, even someone like me has to say: Yup, that is it. Screw me, for wanting more with these two. Because regardless of her flaws, these two just work together. The high society princess (hypothetically growing self-aware of how possessive she is) and the local idiot. It still works, man. If only Shippuden didn't completely ruin her character, because, she never moved past everything you said.

And let me please not talk about The Last, you may find this surprising, but I really HATE this movie, and I am a conservative NaruHina lover. Everything about it only serves to piss me off, not just as a NaruHina fan, or Hinata fan, but also a Naruto fan in general. You just love, how every consecutive, pre-established rule in the series, gets completely shat on, for an already convoluted and mediocre romance story, that, in the process of making it play out, shits on every canonical rule that played out in the story, nothing about it makes sense...

...and please, don't bring up that damned scarf. Who thought this was a good idea? Seriously. A SCARF?!?! Naruto literally had ZERO keepsakes from any of his parents in the canon story, may it be Part 1 (trust me, I rewatched the old episodes, there wasn't any scarf to be seen, ANYWHERE) and if it meant at least having SOMETHING from either of them, you would think that they would have drawn a little bit of attention to it, BEFORE the movie, but he never had anything of the sort, making this entire plot point ultimately worthless and phony. And Hinata grows jealous over a scarf, that never existed prior to the film. I am sorry, this is just pathetic and desperate, what were they thinking? A romance story hinges on everything that was, and how it's going in the here and now, but when said relationship was so absent and vapid for the majority of the series, rarely even talked about, period, and now feeling the need to make up events that never happened in the original series (Hinata wasn't "always there", Naruto canonically, literally had NO ONE looking after him, not even the useless shitstain, naming itself the 3rd Hokage, not until Iruka decided to be kind to him of his own volition)... yeah, no, you won't play me like this, Kishi.

All these badass moments she had in Part 1, manga and filler, all lead to nothing in Shippuden onwards.

I 100% agree, I said it somewhere before, but I had high hopes for her character.

I love the zero to hero trope. I love character development (that's why I love Sakura, because as you said - she was selfish but also weak, and overall unlikable at the beginning of the series, lol. So many growing opportunities were fulfilled? Sign me up).

But Hinata well...

Hinata had interesting backstory, that was... abandoned? Like Kishimoto tried to do so much with this character that he did nothing.

1. Let's make her a princess who fell in love for a "common guy" (yes, it's very overdone trope, but it works for a reason).

Let's make her all high and mighty. Let's make Neji hate her for her privilege and make her aware of them. Then we can let her grow as a character, make her confused why she is into the common guy, and make her realize herself. She could see how mistreated Neji was and stand with him as a form of protest against the established system. Let her be the heir of Hyuga clan and be the change that clan so desperately needs.

2. Let's make her the underdog.

Born into an incredible family but not capable of fulfilling her fathers expectations. Let's make her backstory of being weak IMPORTANT. Let's make her grow! She can realize her weaknesses in fights and become the diplomat! She will go on to changing not only the Hyuga clan but Konoha as a whole! They live in peace and need diplomats instead of pure fighters, so let's make her a first Hokage who is a diplomat first and has her own army. She wouldn't rush into the battle but into conversation. That's would be cool to see to. (Obviously, Naruto had to become the Hokage, but he hated it, so why not make Hinata the Hokage and Naruto her shadow who will fight in front lines)

3. Or even make her a failed princess, who is weak, but then you have to make her work for it.

Make her TRAIN. Make her the reason Neji changed his ways. Make her train with her father/sister/Neji instead of bringing tea! Or even make her give up on Hyuga techniques and make her go to someone else for training. She would be the first Hyuga to have a different (preferably better) fighting style.

Unfortunately, none of this happened.

She is the supposed heir that never became the head of the clan. She was born high and mighty, but it doesn't mean anything -she doesn't care about changing it. She has one of the strongest kekkei genkais, but she is still just a chunin who didn't achieve anything strength wise. She was shy and... still is shy. She was selfish and still is selfish. She never wanted to fight but got some weird "power up" in The Last and got locked in the cage???

Why? Just why? It's just wasteful.

She is the representation of everything I hate in (specifically female) characters.

Her fighting style is literally called "gentle". Her biggest life goal is a guy. Her ambition is nonexistent. She is just bleh.

But most importantly... THERE WERE SO MANY CHANCES OF CHANGE HANDED ON A SILVER PLATTER.

Fight with Neji? Instead of rubbing it in, that he is below her make her build him up. Make him realize that they are the same. Make her the reason for his change instead of Naruto.

Pain arc? Make her do something. Maybe she can go to Shikamaru and help him make a strategy or take Sakura with her to make some female/female fight that we desperately need (we only got one of those, Chiyo x Sakura vs Sasori).

Pain arc? Maybe, let her talk to Pain, let her be the change. Let her be the gentle talker who would help Pain realize that you can suffer but not inflict that suffering on others.

War arc? Make her the leader of Hyuga clan division. Let her stand and say that she would like to share that title with Neji. Make her the general that would lead to change.

War arc? Let her dream be the new Hyuga clan. Show it being different, show her dreaming that the clan is united.

And another War arc, but it needs more:

I know that Hinata fans wouldn't like it, but oh my God, if she died for Neji - she would be my favorite.

Imagine Neji jumping to save Naruto, but it's Hinata who goes in second and saves both of them. It will show her in 100% different light.

She is not selfish anymore. She died for Neji. Not for a crush, not for a confession, but for her cousin.

She is the change in Hyuga clan. The branch is supposed to die for the main family, but she changed it. The main family died for her slave/servant.

She is faster than Neji. In canon, we got her barely having time to jump in and just stand there, but Neji still has time to react. But in the "alternative universe" she is the faster one. It shows her growth and puts her as faster than the Hyuga genius/the strongest Hyuga.

Naruto can see her as something more than the "weirdo or the invisible girl," and she becomes the motivation for him. She becomes his proof of possible change.

I would love that.

But it didn't happen. So, unfortunately, as it is, I hate her character (but we can agree to disagree here!).

Do you think hinata in her prime can beat neji in his prime? I see a lot of people saying that hinata would beat neji only because of her hamura power boost, but possessing a lot of chakra doesn't necessarily equal boost in skill. Karin has massive chakra reserves but sakura can still slap box her to oblivion. Or am I wrong?

No I agree with you, Hinata's prowess in combat didn't actually change after receiving Hamura's chakra. It's main purpose was to give her the unique ability of destroying the Tenseigan, that's it. The thing is though, we can't really say what a prime Neji was like, because he was killed before he reached his prime. However, in terms of pure talent and innate ability, no Hyuuga came close to Neji; this was reiterated multiple times by different people.

For instance, Hiruzen said that it was no exaggeration to label Neji as "the greatest genius in Hyuuga clan history":

And Hiashi was simply left in awe of Neji's display against Naruto during the Chuunin Exam finals:

That's why I'm convinced that had Neji been able to grow up with the rest of his peers, and reach the peak of his endless potential, this would have only continued, and he would have still been the strongest and most talented Hyuuga in the history of the clan. Because no Hyuuga came close to Neji's brilliance, that's just a fact.

Yes yes, you're referring to this post. Shortly after I had made my post regarding how HInata didn't surpass Neji and how he was the most gifted Hyuuga in history, someone replied and directed me to the post you're referring to, and I must say, that was a horrible post. At no point did they ever prove how Hinata had surpassed Neji in actual combat ability. I'll break it down in the same manner as I did with the other person who replied to me, but I'll do so in greater detail since my response to them was limited by reply lengths. Now, I'm obviously not hating on Hinata here, but whenever someone spreads false information, I'm going to correct it, regardless of whatever topic or character the misinformation is directed towards.

Their 1st point was about how Hinata surpassed Neji in visual range from even before their fight during the Chuunin Exams, but that doesn't make her a better fighter. Being able to see further than your opponent doesn't mean you have superior combat skills. Case in point, she still got manhandled by Neji, despite her longer sight range, so that means nothing. What good will seeing 10km ahead do for you, when your opponent is right in front of you?

Their 2nd point was the most ridiculous one. They claimed that she surpassed Neji in combat ability just because she can do the Twin Lion Fist. But again, how does that make her a better fighter? Just because she can do a unique skill doesn't automatically make her better than someone who can't use that skill. Naruto can't do it either, so does that mean she's better than Naruto now? It's preposterous. They claim Hinata surpassed every other Hyuuga in ability just because she can do the Twin Lion Fist. Yet, she can't do the Rotation, and she barely managed to do the 64 Palms late in Pt.2 during the War arc, both of which Neji had already taught himself to do from early in Pt.1, and are integral parts of Hyuuga combat.

Their 3rd point was about stamina, and they start off with by saying how Hiashi said to Kizashi that Neji and Hinata were equals, but he clearly wasn't talking about their fighting ability, so that person was just desperately twisting his words there. The context was about how the Main and Branch families now stand side by side on equal ground, equal status. It obviously had nothing to do with them being equally skilled in combat. Then they used another ridiculous example to prove how Hinata had superior stamina - How Neji was injured and fatigued whereas Hinata wasn't after a certain point. However, when fighting a large scale war with many enemies, not everyone is going to fight an equal number of enemies, that's just a given. Neji was shown fighting a larger proportion in comparison to the others. The person even said how Kiba wasn't injured or fatigued, so by their own flawed logic, this means that Kiba is a better fighter than Neji with superior stamina as well. Is that actually the case though? I'm certain that the universal answer to that question, would be of course not.

Their 4th point claimed how Hinata surpassed Neji in agility, but their evidence didn't even demonstrate any examples of agility. Neji was using the Rotation to deflect thousands of sprigs at once, so he obviously found it difficult to keep up with those astronomical numbers. Hinata deflected one sprig to save Naruto, and they think that's proof she surpassed Neji? How? How does that demonstrate superior agility of all things? It's not like they were jumping around and dodging the sprigs; they were deflecting them. If anything, it shows Neji's superiority, to deflect thousands of them simultaneously, by using a technique that Hinata couldn't do.

I'm sorry but that post was awful, nothing they said shows how Hinata is a better fighter than Neji. Having longer sight doesn't make her a better fighter, she doesn't have more ability, they weren't said to be equals, and she wasn't shown to have more stamina or agility either. Their point about agility didn't even say anything regarding agility, so that just demonstrates their lack of credibility. I know that ranks aren't everything, but there's obviously a reason Neji was the only one in the Konoha 11 to make Jounin during Pt.2. Temari and Kankurou also made that rank, while Gaara was promoted to Kage, and I would definitely place them ahead of the Chuunin Konoha 11 in terms of combat ability, at least during the beginning of Pt.2

About her appearance People say sadara is a mix of Sasuke and sakura. With her having Sasukes hair and eye color but with sakuras face and body shape. Funny enough naurto says she looks like sasuke but it is dismissed as him exaggerating. I heard kishi said she was ment to look like sasuke so it can the "same face syndrome" because they are both female or kishi decided to make her look more like sakura than planned. Hi, she looks nothing like Sakura. If we can choose any women that Sarada resembles it would be Karin. But Naruto was right by saying that she looks like Sasuke because she does not have any physical trait from Sakura expect her eye shape but you have to look really close to notice that. Sarada has the colors of Sasuke and in some angles even her face shape resembles his. She also has similar face expressions to his. Kishi’s resentment towards SS is so big that he would rather make Sarada look like some other woman than her mother. Even grown up Sarada still does not look in any way like Sakura.

She is just incredible. I started to write the whole paragraph about it, but I like to add manga as a proof and Tumblr has limits on pictures I can add, so Ino's greatness will get her own post and now I'll just list it.

Ino is:

Intelligent AF (she is thinking on her feet, makes great strategies, and fulfills her plans masterfully);

Master of her jutsus (that girl connected the whole shinobi alliance because why not AT 16. AS A CHILD. Not to mention taking control of biju away from Madara and Obito, again, AT 16 YEARS OLD;

An amazing inventor, like what she did to Konohas barrier??? Girl boss.

And she is, without a doubt - an incredible friend.

So I didn't even have to wait two days before another Sakura fan decided to interact with me just to try and lather up. Congratulations! You guys are really making a name for yourselves.

Once again, I had correctly tagged my post, and once again, someone who clearly has no interest in arguing with me decides to do so.

You know, you really have to read this manga through SasuSaku or Pro Sakura meta to believe that Sakura is anything other than a damsel in distress.

Arc 1: Sasuke has to wait for Sakura to wake up after Kakashi throws her a genjutsu. On their first mission, Sasuke had to come between her and a random ninja. She cries when she thinks Sasuke is dying.

Arc 2: She lectures Sasuke to move and save Naruto while she… does nothing but throw a kunai to keep Naruto from falling. Sasuke must save her. Then she must be saved by Ino's team and Lee against Sound. When she fights Ino, it's Naruto who has to encourage her to regain control. All along, she's been crying non-stop.

Arc 3: She doesn't listen to Naruto when he wants them to flee against Gaara, interferes, faints and has to be saved by Naruto and Sasuke.

Arc 4: She has no fights, so she doesn't have to be saved.

Arc 5: Kakashi must save her when she comes between Naruto and Sasuke. She cries after Kakashi saves her, when she sees Sasuke again and when Naruto promises to bring Sasuke back.

Arc 6: I'll give her credit where it's due, her and Chiyo fighting Sasori as a team.

Arc 7: Naruto knocks her out and she almost falls off the bridge. Sai refuses to save her, so Yamato has to. Then Kabuto has to heal her. She decides to attack Sasuke and Yamato is stabbed while protecting her. Then Orochimaru must stop Sasuke from killing them all. She cries when Sasuke leaves.

At the Kage Summit, she cries when Shikamaru is being a pain in the ass, she cries when she heals Karin, she cries instead of stabbing Sasuke and she cries after Naruto promises to die with Sasuke. She put herself in a shitty situation, endangered Sai, Kiba and Lee and had to be saved twice.

During the war, she runs into Madara, without a plan (she wanted to make herself look cool in vain, like you), gets stabbed, Naruto has to save her and she's sad that Sasuke doesn't pay her any attention. Then she fails to stab Obito in the eye and he has to save her from Madara. Then she almost falls into the lava and Kakashi has to save her, but all she can think of is that Sasuke doesn't pay her any attention.

Are you sure you're not the one who needs to reread this manga?

It's true that many characters save each other, but in her case, she never stops crying during these situations. And in Naruto's case, even though I hate him even more than Sakura, he doesn't cry as much and is capable of much more than she is. Also, that only shows you didn't read the manga or you have 0 media literacy, because that just proves how awesome and hard working Sakura is.

Her first fail was getting caught in genjutsu, so you know what happened next?

She became so incredible at genjutsu that she was one of 2 (or 3 if you include Shino) genins who could resist it like it's nothing. A girl with no real power was put in one box with "Konoha elites".

And this time, it's not a training genjutsu, it's a serious one, made by Kabuto (a person who is, according to Kakashi, on Kakashis level). It's a beautiful proof of her character development - if you can read it without hate colored glasses 🤷‍♀️

1.2 She did her job, but there were people stronger than her.

You mean, when she did her job? When she was first to protect the guy ALL OF THEM WERE MEANT TO PROTECT? When Sakura, no clan, no talent, no special ability, just a girl DIDN'T EVEN FLINCH, and was ready to d*e for a mission she was assigned? What a "damsel in distress" 🙄

She didn't cry during the fight, she stood her ground as long as it was needed, and when the immediate danger passed and her comrade died - she cried. CRAZY!

It's not like they are all crying when someone dies - ITS JUST SAKURA.

Kakashi didn't cry when Rin died.

Naruto didn't cry when Haku died!

Noone ever did it.

2. That's just stupid

2.1 She didn't personally win against Orochimaru.

She did what she could. Do you expect her to jump in front of Orochimaru and be a hindrance or help where she can from the sidelines?

2.2 She saved her teammates' lifes

She got beaten up badly, but she was still fighting. She got stabbed many times AND WAS STILL FIGHTING.

● Attacking Madara

This is funny because if you read the manga, you would know instead of spreading a misinformation that it has a CLEAR manga explanation.

I'll break it down for you as easily as possible:

Sakura, at that point, is immortal.

Madara is fast, and for the rest of them - getting stabbed by Madaras rode means death (Sasuke almost died from it).

Sakura can get stabbed and go on.

If the rod is blocked by Sakuras body, the rest of them are safe and can attack Madara.

So Sakura Is a diversion.

She even states it herself.

Madara is surprised, and THEY CAN ATTACK.

The plan is clear, and it's not her fault that they decided to ignore a clear and logical plan. That's on Naruto and Sasuke. 🤷‍♀️

● Not following orders from enemies (Obito)

She didn't fail to stab Obito. That's just stupid. She was healing Naruto and the main villain, the guy who started the war, the guy who WAS THE ONE THEY WERE FIGHTING AGAINST - asked her to do something.

Just because Obito had a revelation that Naruto had known about - doesn't mean that Sakura should follow his orders without asking questions. That would be plain STUPID. And then, when Obito explained why he is "a good guy now" she didn't have a chance because in THE next panel - MADARA JUMPED IN. In anime, they made it look as if she had time to do it, but in manga? No.

If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at Kakashi because he HAD time and many chances to take Obito down, but he canonicaly - hesitated.

● Being sad that your teammate didn't care that you would die
