After working on this for 18 months, I have finally finished crocheting the wiener dog blanket!

Still need to weave in some ends (if i ever get around to that)

I love Helpful Older Siblings in childcare because sometimes you get to see the 4 yr old join you in trying to convince his 2 yr old sister that she needs to let you change her pull-up, and he does this by taking her baby dolls and gently acting out the “good baby” who changes into a clean pull-up, and the “bad baby” who throws the pull-up on the floor.

But then because he is a 4 yr old boy, the story progresses to the Good Baby and the Bad Baby having a fight, in which the Good Baby — through the powers of Putting On Pull-ups and Jesus — kills the Bad Baby, and now the moral is much more urgent, because if you are the Bad Baby, you will wind up dead.

Cats Copy. Hence the phrase copy cat. And this cat is clearly fond of this dog as a family member, and just now realized by observing:

"OH WAIT Human is making biscuits on this dog brother and it HELPS with his pain??? Hey I can do that!! I can do that too! Look! Biscuits!!"

Veterinarian at the next follow up: "Dog is looking really good! But I'm concerned - with this kind of progress, it looks like Dog is getting HOURS of massage every day. If you work yourself into a repetitive motion injury, you won't be able to keep up with Dog's home physical therapy, and, you know, you'll be hurt, too."

Human: "I give Dog a massage for about 30 minutes a day. The rest is all Cat."

As someone who was alive when Bob Ross (and William Alexander before him — that’s where the approach is from) was on PBS, I can 100% testify that you can paint along with him.

You may need to learn how to set up your paints and such… but this is what people did, live, while the show aired. That’s what the show was for. I had family members create lovely works of art they enjoyed, which I still have on my walls, because William Alexander and Bob Ross both said:

SCREW METICULOUS CLASSICAL ART PRACTICES — JUST GRAB A PALETTE KNIFE AND BIG OLD BRUSH AND PAINT!

They freed a whole generation of people who were taught to paint detail and realism and exact representation of reality — people who largely gave up this kind of thing because it got tedious.

I watched the joy of family members as they rediscovered art as a messy fun spontaneous half hour activity.

Doctor just told me that it looks like what was the outer ear infection I got diagnosed with last week has now proceeded to both an inner AND outer ear infection.

It’s also moved into my other ear.

Sweater Progress - Week 3

Didn’t take a picture of it last week, but this if how far I’ve gotten after 3 weeks. Still haven’t reached the color change that’s coming in the yarn, and It’s a little bigger than I originally planned, but I’m going to keep going with this anyway.
