Okay to preface this I just wanted to say I enjoyed this event so much! The prompts were so creative and fun! The event felt very welcoming and I felt a genuine sense of community while participating. Thank you both so much for running it you did a great job! Also I understand the amount of work and time that goes into running an event like this.

That being said, I was wondering if there are plans for a similar event or a 2026 one? If you don't know yet or the answer is no I totally understand but I was just curious! Because I would love to participate again!

(hi! it’s slime speaking). thank you very much, that is so kind! we put a lot of work into this event, and we are so glad that so many of you participated and made such beautiful works. we are so so grateful that our idea inspired so much samfro goodness. (and apparently as of today 1% of all samfro fics on ao3 are samfro summer!). <3

@frodosrings and i have talked briefly about making the event reoccurring. we have decided that if all goes well and we are still interested a few months from now, we will start making preparations to create samfro summer 2.0! it’s not set in stone, of course planning this kind of thing so far out makes it incredibly subject to change, but we have talked about it and the idea is on the table! we have also spoken a little bit about doing other events, so watch out for that 👀 it’ll likely happen in the new year.

again, thank you everyone for being so amazing during this event, we worked really hard and seeing the community come together because of it has been so cool!

“Mr. Frodo, how are you?” But he already knew.  Every day he came to visit – though the journey felt farther each time – and every day the answer was the same, even if it wasn’t true. “Just fine, Sam. How are the chickens?” Though old, and though his cheekbones were prominent and his skin nearly translucent, Frodo was still beautiful in the way a painting was beautiful, and his wrinkles, which had deepened between his lyrate brows and at the sides of his cheeks, were dark in a way that made his eyes look brighter. His eyes, in fact, had never changed. Though his cheeks had drooped, and his forehead had formed ridges like the bottom of a riverbank, and though the color drained away from his hair, his eyes were always the same: blue and wide and infinite as the cloudless summer sky.

SUMMARY :  Soon after the War of the Ring, Frodo had the chance to travel to Valinor to heal. But he did not take it. Instead, he returned to the Shire and married Sam’s sister, Marigold. With the help of his friends and his beloved, he healed and lived a long, fulfilling life. That is the story of The Flowers of Mordor.

Now, it is many years later, and Sam and Frodo’s spouses are gone, and Frodo’s health is failing. But Sam made a promise all those years ago to tell Frodo how he really felt before the end. [ Light angst and all the hobbity feels 💚 No need to be familiar with the prequel fic, FOM, to enjoy this. ]

It was a little-known secret that hobbits had magic of their own. Though not as outright as elves or wizards with immortality and eyesight past the horizon, or fireworks conjured from nothing. They wielded magic in their own quiet way. In the way they could sense the plants around them, feeling them breathe and sway as if they were one and the same. In the way that almost anything could grow, no matter the conditions, as long as a hobbit had planted it.

I kind of mention this in the authors note but I wanted to post it here! I will be posting day 5 tomorrow since it goes with day 3! But I promise I wont put out anything else late after that😅😅😅! For the final day of @samfrosummer -- I shall give you several assorted SamFro doodles that I haven't posted in the past but just had in my pocketes somewhere!

First off, there is an orchard called Big B's a few hours from where I live, and it is a big nostalgia factor for me. So one day I sat down and was like, you know what? Hobbits at Big B's, let's go. They're on an apple orchard date! Bilbo is very proud.

Secondly, SamFro Hadestown AU-- Enough said. Any fellow theatre nerds out there get me?

Finally, some assorted Samfrosie doodles feat. Pippin in the top right corner. Because yes, this summer has been about SamFro, but I'd be damned if I left lovely lady Rosie out!

Frodo's tone of speaking (especially in Elijah Wood's performance) is so melodramatic it's almost funny. I can't help but wonder if he speaks like that all the time.

Just after the quest like--

Frodo: And so the end has come to pass. Why such light should die away, I could not guess. For only darkness remains after it all fades. Light leaves behind shadows and yet the dark never brings anything of the light left. It only leaves one to hope-- May I ever see such light again? Though I fear I never will...

Sam: It's a nice sunset, Mr. Frodo, but you really have to stop phrasing your sentences like you're going to die soon.

a cut of cloth — @samfrosummer day 10: wild card (crafting/summer pastimes)

Frodo can’t handle certain types of fabrics—Sam weaves together a handmade tunic for the one fabric he can.

When Sam blinks, it is morning, and the dye has drenched his hands periwinkle in his sleep. He huffs a curse, but makes no really effort to erase the damage—at least, the tunic has been saved from the deepness of the color, and is, as planned, a soft blue-violet. Sam thinks it will go nice with Frodo’s eyes, and the fox-bone buttons he whittled on a starry night a few weeks ago.

With the tunic dried in the night, his hands as well, he unfolds it to catch sight of it in the sun. It does well, a crisp color—most importantly, the fabric is soft, not scratchy nor clingy, nor too tight in the wrong areas. The many complaints he heard Frodo spout in his presence. And he understands, Sam, for there are many hand-me-down trousers he has inherited that fit too tight, with too many patches of different fabrics to be gentle on the skin. He understands, and he’s sorry Frodo must always wear clothes that feel wrong.

But he had found a safer fabric, a cotton-mix that Frodo always said felt like a mid-summer’s breeze on his skin. With a little extra fixing—and some help from his sisters—Sam whipped up a mighty fine tunic for Frodo’s wearing.

It is nearing afternoon when he makes it to Frodo’s house, Bag End has its doors open for the fresh air. Inside it smells of thick honey tea and the beginnings of luncheon. He finds Frodo by an open window, sucking in the wind’s breath.

“Mr. Frodo,” Sam greets, and though more words fail he holds out the tunic—wrapped in a cut of wax paper he stole from the kitchens.

Frodo opens it tentatively, but when he feels the fabric his smile grows. “Oh, Sam, my dear, dear Sam.” He runs a thumb along the seams, along the fabric itself, Sam watches as a weight seems to lift.

“Thank you,” Frodo whispers. “I-“

Sam cuts in, blushing. “It was no work, honest. I want you comfortable, and nothings too much to do for that outcome.”

Quickly, Frodo slips into the shirt. Sam clears his throat and moves his gaze to the garden below the window. It is only after a moment that Frodo pulls him down to join him on his seat. The kiss he receives is another act of gratitude.

my brain is a kneaded dough ball currently so i don’t have it in me to write a full fic for the last day of samfro summer but i could do a little ficlet for a mix of prompts i rather enjoyed ^_^
