Day Six - Memorable Scene(s): bring on the funny or heartbreak or both

“Do you remember when you were small? You used to come into my room in the middle of the night. You’d crawl into my arms and you’d say, "Mummy, I’m afraid.” Ashley, I’m afraid.“

And later, Ashley’s eyes turning from orange to blue? The broken way she says, "Mom?” The slight nod (or maybe I imagine it) when she realises what she has to do?

That last bit of End of Nights part 2 (so from when Ashley is in the main lab with Helen until the credits) just gets me, hard. And then Ashley’s funeral in Eulogy? That makes me blooming sad too, seeing how difficult it is for Helen to let her go, how Ashley’s image tells her she has to. It… Gah.

We know, from Requiem, that Helen’s had to bury loved ones, family and friends, but I didn’t imagine in episode nine of season one that by episode two of season two that’s exactly what Helen would be doing with Ashley (ok, funeral’s episode three but you knew what I meant). I honestly thought she’d be there for the whole show (because how cool would that have been - exploring more of Ashley that wasn’t just being Helen and John’s child, or having her around with her new powers?) but she wasn’t and that send off? That was sad.

And to echo it in Chimera? To have her image brought forth by Adam in the false reality of the church in the computer? Not cool characters wise (because ouch) but so very cool story wise (because Ouch!).

Nos must amitto vivo en. We must let go.

Day Five - Favourite Abnormal(s)

“Who’s your daddy?” Yas!

Ok, y'all probably mean abnormal who isn’t a main character, but I’ve not gone all silly for Henry yet this week, and the guy is an abnormal (remember, they’re HAPs, not werewolves or lycans). Helen wonders what his life would have been like had she left him on the moors, but she didn’t leave him and we are so grateful! Henry is awesome, and funny, and gets frustrated, and goes all fanboy at times. He likes comics and he can sing! He’s a whizz on a computer, can build undeadding machines with only a vague idea of how and made the jacket that helped Helen survive an explosion.

Honourable mention: Afina

If it wasn’t for Afina, Nikola wouldn’t be a vampire. Also, queen bitch. Also, very stupid - who underestimates two humans who have randomly injected Source Blood “for the Science”? But she’s great. And evil. And… Yeah ok, she’s literally here because it means Tesla will always be the last of The Five (but so long as Helen is around, he’s ok with that).

Day Four - Favourite Ship(s), romantic and/or platonic

Romantic:

So, I haven’t always shipped these two adorkable goofs, but on returning to the fandom, I fell for them so hard. Its not the stereotypical love story (because there is love there, even if its hidden under much angst and slow burn) but she saves him a few times, he saves her a few times, she says no and he backs off. That’s my biggest thing with them - anytime she says no, he backs off. No wheedling, no, “Oh but…!” Just a, “Get out,” from her and he’s, “Ok.”

(Think it helps that she has a gun and he was mortal at the time but roll with it.) I love them, and I love watching them, and I love reading them and all their shenanigans. XD

Platonic:

(Don’t know who’s pic this is, so can’t credit, but if you know, let me know so I can add.)(Oh! Imagine Ashley there too.) Mama!Magnus/Henry/Ashley. Basically the family dynamic, Sanctu-hana, ‘these are my kids touch them and die’ thing that, I feel, wasn’t there enough (but I could be feeling that because I love the idea of the family dynamic that much). I will admit its more for writing than watching, but Helen hugging Henry after Tesla saved him in Resistance gives me life.

Honourable mention to the fact that, in this show, you can just about ship anyone with anyone. Yaaaaas! (My fave rare pair atm? Helen/Nigel.)
