hello everyone! i finally decided to give a proper intro a whirl....
my name is theo; and i use he/she pronouns. i’m 25 years old. i love writing but i also play hockey and it’s kind of my life.
i’m based in the pacific time zone (PST).
i really enjoy creating characters and worldbuilding, as well as hearing about anyone else who does the same. always feel free to drop by my messages or my asks and ramble away!
i mostly write what could be considered sci-fi or futuristic, as most of my stories take place in a planet i created and set in the future. most of my stories take place around a group of hockey leagues i’ve created.
a few of my favourite tropes are fight scenes, character conflicts, characters in heavy emotional/physical distress, and personifying inanimate objects. if you ever need anything tagged, please feel free to DM me and let me know.

🩸 ⚔️ | “slaughter season” (action, thriller)
“Slaughter Season” focusses on the stories and lives of the players and teams in the Combat Sports Hockey League, also known as the CSHL. The league is one of two premier hockey leagues on the planet of Plutidyne, and is well known for their more violent approach to the game. The League is very hands off when it comes to calling penalties, breaking up fights, and providing supplementary discipline to its players. On top of this- the threat of the Team Improvement Lottery, an event occurring every five years and one that can make or break a team, looms overhead. Those who are entrusted with the duty of protecting the players seem to be failing them the most.
👤🏒 | “the commissioner” (suspense)
Being the Commissioner of the CSHL is hard work; the League hinges on every decision you make, you are never the hero in the eyes of the fans, and everyone seems to want a piece of you. The Commissioner is elusive in the public eye for a reason, and though their identity seems to be known, there are theories that the Commissioner the public knows is just a facade. A particularly controversial season for the CSHL sends people looking for answers on this leader who is seldom seen.
🌇🏟️ | “welcome to the show” (action, episodic)
A collection of one shots featuring various CSHL players’ first ever game in the League. These stories will document their experiences as they play in their first game, as they finally begin to realize what they’ve gotten themselves into and the grave mistake they’ve made signing on that dotted line.
🥅 💉 | “acidic” (drama, dark fiction, tragedy)
Zayne Topher is trying to become the next big thing in net for the Belneux Thunderbirds, and the PIHL as a whole. However, he must first fight his own demons and the endless roadblocks that the universe throws at him.
⛸️ 👊 | “five for fighting” (slice of life, dramedy)
An episodic peek into the daily lives of the staff who keep the Nightingale Ice Center up and running. Between the hockey players running the pro shop, the figure skaters who want nothing to do with them, and to the quiet loner who drives the Zamboni- the rink bonds all of them together whether for better or for worse and whether they like it or not.

I've been giving this writing advice to a lot of my friends lately so I'll do a mumbling post about it here.
You gotta play dolls with your characters.
Slap them in AUs, make silly fanfiction, make "what if?" senarios. You gotta recreate the feeling of taking your toys out as a kid and improv-ing a story on the spot. You'll get a sense of what makes them who they are outside of their main storyline.
Take a piece of yourself, expand and explore upon it. Create characters and storylines that are love letters to those you've cared most about. Take that little ball of hate and/or despair and give yourself a little therapy lesson.
Be bored! Be frustrated! Be unsatisfied! "Someone should make a story about ___" YOU should make that story! If you aren't satisfied with the media you see, make for yourself the story you DO want to see! Don't worry about how others will view it. For right now, for right at the beginning, the only way you're gonna make progress is if you're having a bit of fun.
I feel so insane about ai. I've had face-to-face conversations with people who use it for therapy, who use it to calculate the safety of pill interactions, who use it for all their emails and grant applications and legal documents and academic papers and finance sheets and for every single question they have about the world, and if you tell them about the ecological costs they just laugh and say "I guess I've used a lot of water." and I've been in multiple gatherings of 10+ people where I'm THE ONLY PERSON who doesn't use chatgpt. it's turning me into a ranting raving pariah, because how don't you people see??? why don't you understand??????? this bullshit didn't exist five years ago, you absolutely do not need it, and it is destroying everything

A character avoids eye contact because they’re nervous, making the other believe they’re hiding something.
A character mistakes someone’s distraction for boredom, assuming they’re not interesting enough.
A character misinterprets kindness as pity, making them defensive.
A character uses a phrase that has multiple interpretations, and the listener takes it in the worst possible way. (“I took care of him.” “You WHAT?”)
A character pulls a harmless prank that spirals out of control until it’s too late to take it back.
The audience knows that two characters are talking about completely different things, but neither of them realises it (dramatic irony).
A character gives a vague or hesitant response out of nervousness, and the other person takes it as rejection.
A text or letter meant for one person gets sent to the absolute worst possible recipient.
A character asks another to do something simple, but their interpretation is wildly different.
Two characters remember an event completely differently, leading to an argument where both are convinced they’re right, but what actually happened is something neither of them recall correctly.
Someone shrinks away from a touch due to past trauma, but the other person assumes it means rejection.

NEVER be vulnerable. FLUSH your medication down the toilet. LIE when people ask how you’re doing. SUPPRESS your feelings. ALWAYS be irritable and abrasive. MAKE SURE you push away anyone who’s close to you. CANCEL your therapy appointment.

today i'm going to talk about Trevor McCann, one of the characters in "Acidic" who is Zayne Topher's childhood friend and fellow draftee/teammate.
here's a picrew to start:
Trevor is 24 years old, and currently the first line centre and the captain of the Belneux Thunderbirds. He is one of the younger captains in the league, and is considered something of a generational talent even at such an early point in his career. He was a prodigy at the game from a young age, and had attention on him from his first few minor hockey games as a child. He always stood out in the crowd, they always knew when he was on the ice.
His parents raised him in a strict, sheltered way, which they credit for his success- however, it leaves Trevor still figuring out a lot of "real life" situations that he was never exposed to until he got older. He doesn't know entirely how to deal with the situation that Zayne is in, between his family situation and his addictions eating away at him. Trevor's parents urge him to leave Zayne behind, still having a lot of influence on him even after he moved out of their home, but Trevor can't bring himself to leave his friend behind when he's like this. He spends a lot of time worrying, about anything from the performance of his team to if Zayne is alive or not. Zayne thinks Trevor has never struggled for anything and has always had things handed to him, and this misconception causes a lot of friction in their friendship as of late.
