i think one of the greatests curses of being an artist is that if you do it for long enough, if you carry enough projects to completion, if you dedicate enough time to it. you eventually internalize a terrible lesson: if you just sit down to do it it will get done.

and its terrible because suddenly you have no excuse. projects that you used to dismiss on the basis that they were too hard or too challenging or too far away from your skill level, now you know that if you just sit down and put in the time it will get done!

now the only thing holding you back is yourself!

Bayou Inflammation Blend Experiment

Working on a long infusion tea blend for inflammation. Pictured: goldenrod, blackberry leaf, selfheal, american plantain, yarrow and wood nettle.

Goldenrod = stiffness support

Blackberry leaf = tissue-toning support

Selfheal = restorative, cooling support

Plantain = soothing and balancing

Yarrow = circulation and stiffness

Wood nettle = nourishing, mineral-rich foundation

Still very much in an experimental stage—first cuppa was definitely bitter and medicinal. Not at the point of posting a recipe until I see if it doesn’t anything. We’ll give it a week or two.

phenomenon we have talked to death on here is when people who have direct experience with an issue will get dismissed in discourse for being Hysterical or whatever. i haven't seen any talks abt the converse where if you have like a modicum of emotional control or are uninterested in/unable to perform sadness or anger over text to an audience everyone just assumes you have 0 personal stake in the issue at hand

Okay I have also soured on a lot of Prediction Market shit but I do thing we should at least try the most basic regulations, like "If you can affect the market yourself and you bet on it, you go to jail" and "If you try and manipulate the independent observations, you go to jail" and "If you are a government worker or contractor of any kind and you bet on a government-related bet, you go to jail"

Just, like, I feel now might not be the best of times to say whether regulation is impossible for an industry. Might be some confounders in this natural experiment.

It's become a personal weakness, but the type of personality that has come to annoy me the most is

a) acts incredibly rude because they think the only thing that matters is being correct,

b) is incapable of tolerating an argument to figure out what is actually correct, and gets offended if you question them or their assumptions.

"Well, you shouldn't have any friends or stand up for your principles, because you believe bad things."

"That thing you said before was factually incorrect."

"Oh, here come the 'um actually nerds' shoot me if I ever care more about defending racists than being on the right side of history."
