Indescribable.
I don't know how I started liking you.
I don't know why I got a little crazy about you.
We only knew each other for a short time, and we haven't really known each other well enough. Hell, I don't even know what your favorite color is!
But what's clear to me... What I know... is that... I like you so so much. You're always on my mind. My day brightens up the moment I see you. While gloom takes over when you're not around at all. I can't help but feel jealous with every guy that are potential dates or partners for you... but I keep cheering you on anyway. After all, your happiness >> my happiness.
I honestly don't know how I got into this situation... again. Fell too quickly. Fell too deeply. Fell too obsessively... And never reciprocated.
I already accepted it. From the beginning, no matter how all of these play out, it will still end with "hindi tayo pwede". Just like how I whispered those exact words in your ear that night. I wonder what was going through your mind at that time. I don't know about you but for me, definitely... masakit. But I have to keep moving on. And part of that is going to be my big confession to you.
I'm still dreading that day - the day I plan to give you the over-the-top gift I prepared for you. I might back out at the last minute. Or I might stammer a lot if I do push it through. But if I wanted to be able to let go of my feelings for you sooner, then I have to acknowledge it out loud first.
I like you.
I like you?
Doesn't feel enough.
I love you.
Do I?
Sounds a bit too much.
Until now, I still can't explain or define my feelings for you. But if I'm allowed not to cut short my confession, these will be the words that I would want you to hear:
You're the reason I was able to endure my 8-6. You're the reason I'm cheerful during the weekdays. You're the reason I look forward starting a new week. You're the reason I was happy for the last few months.
I want to keep witnessing your heart-melting smile. I want to keep my head leaning on your shoulder. I want to play with and hold your hands. I want to run my fingers on your hair. I want to hug you so tight. I want to stay by your side always.... and forever.
You gotta say something once in a while...
TL;DR This post is about the two core reasons, IMO, how a controversy is born: media and people.
Important note: I am not against media. I mean, it is also the medium we use to investigate things thoroughly. I am only against those irresponsible ones and people who blindly believe them.
---
First of all, excuse me if you will spot some wrong grammars in this post. I'm not that good in English but I'll try my best.
---
I am not the kind of person who pokes her nose into issues. I may not look like I care but the truth is, I'm just bathing in my silence.
When controversies spark and big commotion starts to surround them, I start my own research. I read articles that explain (or nearly explain) both sides of an issue. I watch the videos related to that issue. I also read opinions of netizens to spice up my own thoughts about the issue. Sadly, I learn that there are many people out there who talks and talks but doesn't know the whole story. Even after I dig into details, I seldom (or never) post about it. This is because I find the comments and posts of some reasonable people (who think things through; who think before they post; who explains their views smoothly and perfectly) enough to voice out for me.
Most of the time, I am able to calm myself down. However, I actually find it hard and painful when I am part of the group involved, especially when the group is at the receiving end of the bashing (on second thought, I would feel the same even if it was the opposite).
I will not name a specific controversy here. I guess, this will be appropriate for all the issues which has surfaced recently.
Those issues... What do you think they have in common?
If you observe carefully, there are two things where they are common: (1) manipulative media and (2) overreacting audiences.
Manipulative media. I purposely avoided using the word "unreliable" or "irresponsible" because that would be a cruel generalization, and I wouldn't want to line myself up with those people who generalize things hastily. I guess this is just my opinion but the word "manipulative" is neither negative nor positive description for me. Media is supposedly the one responsible for reporting facts to the nation. They are responsible for spreading correct information to the country... to the world. However, let's admit it. Nowadays, media isn't fulfilling its primary purpose. Everyone is aware of some manipulations done by the media for various reasons for all we know (protecting a person or organization, higher ratings, being unique). No offense to people working in this field, but you people know that ground more than us... more than anyone else. This is just my opinion based on all observations made.
Have you watched a Korean series entitled Pinocchio? After watching Pinocchio, I learned how cruel media can be. Well, it's not that I do not know, but that's when it became so clear. From what I've seen, there are two types of lies that media show: (1) a half-assed truth and (2) a twisted story. I won't cite any non-fictional reports here because I know that everyone might have already heard or encountered something like this. There are times that the media initially do not lie about their report. However, they do not show the whole truth. This usually happens on interviews or clips of coverage of an event. They show the parts which are interesting (and may spark some issue) and cut off those that will negate the said interesting parts. As for a twisted story... this one is pure lie. They will make good guys, bad and make the bad guys good. As simple as that. This happens when they report only the good sides of a respective person or group, and block off all the negative ones. And as for those real good guys, they make them bad by concentrating on the negative things they have done or by blaming something into them (which may not be their fault at the first place). You may say that "Hey, that's just a fictional work. That's just a Korean drama. You've never worked for a TV station nor never been there." Yeah, you're right. Then I could say that this article implies to the MAJORITY of the media out there. There could be some who are honest, but they surely are rare. Yeah, you're right, Pinocchio is a fiction. However, it is not a supernatural-themed... nor fantasy... nor science fiction. Series like this which depict everyday lives are based on reality. This was written and made because this is what is happening in the real world.
We are all aware that media is indeed influential. It is indeed powerful. Just one word from them heard by some people who blindly believe things, and BAAM! The world just got itself a cancer! Don't get me wrong, it's not the media I'm pointing out as the cancer, it's the certain kind of people.
Overreacting audiences. The word used to describe these people plainly tells you one of the main problems in a controversy. Like what previously established, people who don't think before they say something, people who don't study the details well before they blurt out their opinions, are the cancer of this society. There are lots of people who fall under this category. I can't argue with them if they initially feel irritated or angry or frustrated on a news subject. I do have those moments as well. However, can we at least think before we post something? Why don't we do a little research before voicing out our opinions (to avoid being bashed by those who did theirs)? I can't also argue if there are people who are too sensitive with some matters which cause uproar in the social media, but can we calm ourselves a bit and let our sanity hit the rock bottom of our brains? If only people would stop being judgmental, basher, or any kind of these things without getting their facts right, then we would save so much room for another problems and discussions.
The length of life of a controversy depends on how trending it is. Meaning, the people talking about it are the one making it grow like their own kid. Let’s save those saliva and energy from our fingers and use them for discussions on how to improve our country (or world; or at least how to not make it worse).
I may be just a nobody who will tell you this but, we may not be able to control or stop the manipulations done by the media, but the non-media people (who are way greater in number than the media ones) may be able to control the flow of an issue. Everyone, let's grow up. Let us not blindly follow or believe what we always see (especially those shown by the media). Let's do some deep thinking here before we put ourselves into action. Remember, those who do not dig deeper into details are shallow people. We do not want to be those kind of people.
Let's make a change here, shall we?
"Books are not something that you just read words in. They're also a tool to adjust your senses."
— Makishima Shougo
"The law doesn't protect people. People protect the law. People have always detested evil and sought out a righteous way of living. Their feelings, the accumulation of those peoples feelings are the law. They're neither the provisions, nor the system. They're the fragile and irreplaceable feelings that everyone carries in their hearts. Compared to the power of anger and hatred, they are something that can quite easily break down. People have prayed for a better world throughout time. In order for those prayers to continue to hold meaning, we have to try our best to protect it to the very end. We just can't give up on it."
"Do you know the most demeaning thing you can do to the law that we should respect? Creating and administering a law that is unworthy of protection."

Monica: No... But I bet she probably does.
Phoebe: Oh, "probably"? Yeah, I don't like that word. I know what "probably" reeeally means. Oh, "Your mom won't PROBABLY kill herself". You know, you know, "No, the funeral director PROBABLY won't hit on you." "Yeah, that nice couple PROBABLY will adopt you." I'm sorry, but I'm not hanging all my hopes of Rachel and I living together on... on... "probably". You know you gotta take care of yourself in this world. History teaches us nothing! *and walks out*

Phoebe! So cuuute. xDD
God never take something away without giving back something better.
Oh, what're you gonna do? You gonna go, run, tell Monica? You gonna tell Joey? No, because then you'd have to tell them what we did! We are dessert stealers! We are living outside the law!

When you're trying to not become someone, you become someone else. xD
I'm new to books.
And yeah, I know what you're thinking... It's kinda pathetic. Haha. :D I really hated it now. Hated how I didn't enjoy reading books during my younger years... Or even during my early teens.
I regret that I wasn't part of the Potterheads during its peak of popularity. Hahaha. :D Though I admit it myself that I really do not like jumping on a bandwagon towards popular stuffs. But still... It's kinda sad. Heehee. ^_^
However, during this four-month vacation, where the April and May were spent on summer classes, I've decided and finally started reading books.
Yeyy! \(^o^)/
So far, I've read four books, starting with "Thirteen Reasons Why" of Jay Asher, followed by "The Red Pyramid" of Rick Riordan, then J.K. Rowling's HP series' book one, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", and what I recently finished reading, "A Time To Kill" by John Grisham.
I'd say, I've been enjoying every book so far. :D I guess my imagination is being developed too. Hoho. Goodness. :3
Now, I can't wait to read the second books of HP series and Kane Chronicles. xD I enjoyed those two a lot. With all the magics, chants, and those kind of stuffs! It's like the reader is being thrown to another kind of world. I was really into them for the whole time I was reading them. :D ♥
As for 13RW, I like how the two sides were narrated. Though I've never imagined Hannah's voice to be like those in YouTube. Felt like she's not teenager there at all. :| And from this book, I learned bigtime! Caring enough is not enough... We should care a lot. XD
The Grisham novel on the other hand, is the most serious so far. I thought it's all about killers and such. However, I was not disappointed when I realized it's not. Instead, it amazed me. I never knew stuffs about trials, lawyers, and juries before until I read this. The thought of being a lawyer actually popped into my mind in the middle of reading the novel. Haha. I admire Mr. Brigance a lot. ♥
Now, I'm in the middle of reading "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks. :)
Thanks to my CBI batchmate and friend Leigh, I managed to borrow six books from her: HP series book 1, a Grisham novel, a Nicholas Sparks novel, Twilight series book 1, "Joy School" by Elizabeth Berg, and one of the most mainstream novels today, especially in Philippines, "The Fault In Our Stars". So yeah, two books down, four more to go. :D I can keep this up until first semester comes. ^_^
--
You might be wondering why I've only managed to read four books during the months of June and July. Well, I watched six seasons of FRIENDS in between the books, that's why. ;) ♥
