this image is probably the most accurate visual representation of the United States education system
So recently the mayor of my city placed a bunch of sharp stones under a bridge commonly used by homeless people to escape the harsh tropical storms we experience during the summer
A priest decided that was an utterly anti humanitarian course of action (rightfully so) and so his solution.. was to destroy those rocks with a hammer.
I'm not Catholic (in fact, I grew up Jewish and am now atheist) but I feel this is what religion is supposed to be about. Using the divine to help humans behave a little more... human.

Capitalism didnāt give Americans cars and smartphones though. The people in most of those cars are probably still paying off their loans, and their phones are likely on contract. Capitalism just lends Americans money, so it can make more money when they pay it back. And they donāt complain because they get to enjoy the illusion of prosperity and drive a car they donāt really own, while paying other people for fuel and insurance.
Itās all smoke and mirrors. The only real part is the smoke.
capitalism didn't give me a phone. it forced me to buy one if I wanted to do literally anything. homework, school, jobs, interviews, family, friends, relationships, banking, taxes, insurance, medical stuff, etc. I need a phone to do any of those things. and it's pretty much the same deal with a car.
capitalism doesn't give you things. it doesn't create things. it makes certain expensive things necessary for survival in modern society. and if you can't afford those things, then you're just fucked.

when i was in therapy i once expressed to my therapist that i really struggle with having pretty much zero idea of who i am as a person + she whipped out a piece of paper and suggested that we write down different aspects of myself. and i had no idea what to say bc āmyselfā is a concept iām not very familiar with so she started saying about my interests and how thatās part of me + i was like okay!! that makes sense!! so she clicked her pen and was like āyou said you like video games beforeā and i was like sure bud :) and watched her write down, in capital letters āGAMERā and iāve never had so much terror struck into my h
You are enough, and thatās all you need to bee. šš
