Moving Blogs
Hiiii everyone I am relocating to @redcliffs for a general blog and @strwberrysodas for kpop so I am tagging some mutuals here under the cut!
might get shot and killed for this but allo people only being able to categorize platonic relationships as "parental" or "siblings" is actually so embarrassing. have you never had friends before
it is deeply frustrating to see people claiming that the only real queer story must be a romance with a happy ending. it might not be as oppressive as claiming the only real queer story must be a tragedy, but it’s just as dehumanising and limiting to deny the possibility of every goddamn kind of narrative there is. queer tragedies and romances and vengeance fantasies and action narratives and adventures, explorations, family sagas, mysteries, mythologies, survival stories and dipshit comedies are all part of the human experience and every part of the human experience is part of the queer human experience.

3. Top 5 Favorite books this year?
1. Villette by Charlotte Brontë
2. Sylvia's Lovers by Elizabeth Gaskell
3. Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison
4. The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot
5. Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay
And two notable nonfiction books since I started trying to get more into that this year- Lyndall Gordon's Lives Like Loaded Guns about Emily Dickinson and her family is so so interesting and Emma Donoghue's Inseparable was a good starter for lesbian literary criticism
4. Did you discover any new authors this year
Toni Morrison is probably my favorite!! I have never read any of her work before this year and I am excited to get more into it. Also really really love Katherine Mansfield and I have been meaning to read more from Mieko Kawakami all year :(
17. Did any book surprise you with how good it was?
Considering my assigned school reading for this bc everything else I was really picky and deliberate about reading but I liked Henry James' Portrait of a Lady more than I thought I would. It's by no means a perfect book but there are times it feels close to it. Oh also the bl manga The Flower that Seems to Truly Dance really did something to me I was expecting a quick read and I laughed and cried and everything.
