"The female artists that I know of have reinvented themselves 20 times more than the male artists. they have to… or else you're out of a job"
-Taylor Swift
This is not women vs a man. This is about how women are held to impossible standards in the music industry from beginning to end.
It doesn’t matter if she’s older, young, very young, pregnant, if she just went through an accident, if she has trauma — none of it matters. There are never any excuses for women. They are always expected to give too much.
And even then, it’s still not enough. There will always be something people say she lacked: energy, charisma, stage presence, vocals, you name it because even if she’s flying across the stage, people will still find a flaw.
And for women, there’s no such thing as “maybe it just wasn’t her day” or “maybe something happened.” That grace does not exist. Instead, they get labeled as lazy or mediocre, and suddenly the audience starts acting like they were robbed and demanding their money back but right now they act like they paid to watch the eighth wonder of the world.
If Madonna — someone who has proven herself over and over again for decades — did a show like that, everyone knows she would be dragged through the mud. There would be no excuses about her past achievements, no “she already proved herself” narrative. It simply wouldn’t apply.
And people keep saying that newer female artists need to “prove themselves,” but that argument doesn’t even hold up. Because even when women have already proven themselves, they still don’t get the same grace.
Look at Beyoncé. When she started the Renaissance Tour, people were already saying she wasn’t the same, that she didn’t have the same energy — even though she was literally delivering everything: choreography, vocals, stage presence. Of course it’s not going to look exactly the same as years ago — time passes — but she was still giving a full, high-level performance.
And at Coachella. She delivered one of the most iconic performances ever — to the point people literally call it “Beychella” — with a massive production, multiple elements, and total control of the stage. She got paid millions for that, and she gave a show that matched it.
Meanwhile, you have situations where a man gets paid even more, goes on stage, barely puts effort, sings over tracks, and people still defend it — saying he’s older, that he’s a father, that he already proved himself, that he’s just “connecting with the audience.”
And what’s even worse is comparing that to Sabrina who performed a day before, delivering a full show: multiple stage setups, outfit changes, choreography, vocals, even leaving in a car — a complete performance — and people still call it boring. That’s honestly disrespectful.
And then they say that his lack of effort was because he wanted to “connect with the audience.” I’m sorry, but that’s not an artistic style — that’s just not putting in effort and knowing people will excuse it.
Then they bring up the excuse that “he already did all of that when he was younger”. But again, that logic never apply to women. Because if a woman with an equal or even bigger career did a show like that today, it would immediately overshadow her entire legacy. There would be no understanding, no grace, no “she already proved herself.”
People also say “he changed his style, he’s more chill now, it’s about connection.” But since when are women allowed to do that? Since when can a female artist just go on stage, do the bare minimum, and still be respected as an artist?
Because even when women do strip things down, they still get criticized. Look at Miley Cyrus — she’s done performances where it’s just her, a microphone, and a band and she still commands the entire crowd with her presence alone. And people STILL call her lazy or say the show wasn’t well planned.
And then people say, “look at Adele, she just sings, no outfit changes, nothing, and she doesn’t get criticized.” As if she doesn’t get criticized too. And on top of that, Adele has never given a mediocre show.
Her performances may be focused on vocals, but they are still organized, rehearsed, and well-executed. She still includes elements like staging, pyrotechnics, confetti — it’s intentional. She has never gone on stage and delivered something careless like that.
So no, this is not women vs a man. This is about the blatant misogyny and double standard people have towards women in the music industry.
Women are expected to be perfect at every stage of their careers, under any circumstance, and even then it’s still not enough.
Because today it’s one man, yesterday it was another, and tomorrow it will be someone else — a man doing nothing extraordinary and still getting more praise than a woman who gives everything.
If Madonna had done that same show, people would be dragging her with no mercy. But since it’s Justin, suddenly it “doesn’t matter” because he’s already proven himself. Funny how that logic never applies to women.
I just watched Higher Ground because of Hayden Christensen, but I ended up really loving it and now I have no one to talk about it with 😭

FREE MY MAN
sometimes... i question if tom and haz are still friends
Remember when Tom was an individual instead of a boyfriend-in-a-purse? That was a fun time.
God I'm so disappointed about Taylor Swift, Margot Robbie and Anya Taylor-joy for working with David O. Russell in the new movie Amsterdam
I feel awful I'm masive swiftie but i can't stan for Taylor in this one, i didn't put much attention in the details of the movie she was going to do when it was announced cause i was really excited to watch her on cinema but now that i've seen the trailer and David's name on it, i just couldn't help but felt complete upset with her like come on you wrote The man and you've been one hell of a witness of misogyny and abuse in this industry, you've had fight and make activism for things to get better for all the abuse victims and then you throw it all to the window. I - i just can't even express my disappointment.
And what about Margot, she produced Promising young woman a movie condemning the complicity of which we are part when we relate to abusers, to do exactly the same thing. Nice :/
I'm just really upset with all the people who is involved with this man cause some of them know and are aware of this asshole weird behavior like Christian Bale who fought him for mistreating Amy Adams and yet here we are.
For the people who doesn't know O. Russell sexually abused his trans niece when she was 19, which was confirmed by Russell himself to have happened and also for years committed labor abuse with many actors.
For all the swifties and this movie "Amsterdam" actors fans please don't go to watch it, let's stop the support for this abusers in Hollywood. It seems like the only way Hollywood do the right thing is when they don't get the pay check they expected. So if you so badly wants to see you're favorite actor/actress watch it online or something but don't give one penny to this hell of a monster and also let's reflect about all this fake wokeness celebs hand us and be a little bit more self aware and use common sense without waiting for them to "make us see it", they're just trying to be relatable.
Btw I'm not saying the fault is the actress or actors for the abuse because its all the David's but it's disappointing to see he got the support of such masive celebs to go on with another project when he should be in jail and also we see the hypocrisy in the industry like you make activism all until money gets in between and then well they said maybe it wasn't that bad
I love Taylor with all my life, but when our favorite artists screw it, we have to recognize it and not act as if nothing had happened just because they are our idols and blind ourselves by the admiration we have for them. Recognizing they made something wrong doesn't make you less of a fan, it just make you a critical thinking person
Who’s your favorite Hollywood couple??
That definitely have to be Mom and Dad Toe 🤭 haha kidding Jaylor it is💖, i mean the lyrics she'd wrote about him are too pure, he makes her feel like a little girl, so safe and love.
He's a gentleman and a great supporter for sure
I love how they have keep it to themselves without allowing no one to have a say in the way they work together, it's like they created their own little world and i loveeee, they're so beautiful 🥲
I just know no matter how much they gatekeep themselves from the public, you can tell they love each other💖
✨He's passing by, rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky and he feels like home🌠
Maybe if they spent as much actually working on their projects as they do this pr their careers would actually be going somewhere...
Facts🤭
We as a society recently have idolized “meltdown” acting and called it “good acting” when truly u can learn how to cry at any community college acting course. I like zendaya’s personality but she is not an impressive actress or a natural talent. He PR and management cater to middle/high schoolers fans (aka the cringey jersey). Her speech is lackluster and doesn’t have much range. She curses to bring more edge and emotion into her voice and she constantly picks “edgy” characters to look more impressive cuz it sheds her Disney image.
Her previous work as a red carpet interviewer shows just how much her management was trying to push her to stay relevant early in her career and her campaigns in fashion and push as a high fashion icon is her her strength. She is a part of the Hollywood industry machine that have molded her into a figure that can be capitalized from every sort of media that can. Magazines, tv shows, movies, etc.
This isn’t knew stuff we have seen it since Hollywood has started. It’s just the stans they blindly believe it. Putting Zendaya in dune in a role without much range and give her a slight accent is no different than models being see as protagonist arm candy in almost every sci fi/action movie. Zendaya seems like a decent person. But she isn’t a natural talent and her team have perfected how to keep her current and in the papers.
Euphoria also doesn’t give her anything different. Yelling, screaming and crying does not make an actor. All her movements and energy seem forced. Zendaya plays zendaya. That’s not a bad thing but it’s not versatile. That’s it. I think she has potential to go into the Jennifer Aniston or even the Gwyneth Paltrow route. Mid talent but great branding. Again I like her but this is an unbiased and neutral take.
Applause! 👏🏻
What happened to Joshua Bassett has just confirmed to me that the internet has created a disgusting level of disconnect disguised as brownie points for "feminism." People making "fuck boy" comments and "the white boy is not worth it" jokes about someone they don't even know.. about someone who'd been sexually abused his whole life, saying that HE groomed someone because.. what? they broke up and she was more famous than him? stop projecting your issues over a real human person based on presumptions. get therapy
hi just wanted to say that i 100% agree with you about how fucked it is it is that the cast isn’t posting about josh’s music. not even that, they’re not liking, commenting, or acknowledging his work in any way. it makes me sick. especially knowing how they literally just supported olivia for her grammy noms a few days ago and congratulated julia on THE SAME FUCKING DAY. so sorry to be negative but that really pissed me off. if they don’t post for his birthday i’m so done.
Ya it makes me so mad, but more than anything it just makes me super sad for Josh. Like when you think about it he doesn't have a relationship with his family and now it seems like his work fam no longer supports him. I just hope he has at least a few people to lean on
Joshua deserves better 🥺 we all here for you ❤
