Fanfiction Club: The Rules
This idea came to me when I woke up first thing this morning.
SUCH TRUTH
Yes.
I LOVE THIS SO HARD
Stargate SG-1: Avalon, Part 1 | Stargate Atlantis: Epiphany
I am done with anti-medicine nuts who are like “God gave us all we need in nature” yup he sure did. wtf do you think scientists use to make their medicines? where do you think they got all those chemicals. they didn’t summon them from the void. we haven’t outsourced to alien planets. everything came from this earth. we just tweaked them into something more effective. taking a long walk in the woods and chewing on plants never made me feel less like dying but taking prozac sure fucking did.
when people are like “medicine has all those NASTY CHEMICALS” it makes me genuinely concerned that they dont know herbalism is literally those same ‘nasty’ chemicals, just less precise/concentrated/helpful
TAKING A LONG WALK IN THE WOODS AND CHEWING ON PLANTS NEVER MADE ME FEEL LESS LIKE DYING BUT TAKING PROZAC SURE FUCKING DID
Also if you take a long walk in the woods and chew on the *wrong* plants YOU WILL PROBABLY ACTUALLY DIE - they sure sound like some nasty chemicals…..
but did victor frankenstein actually have a phd
no one’s answered my question
THIS MOTHERFUCKER WAS AN UNDERGRAD
IMAGINE HEARING ABOUT THE DUDEBRO LIVING NEXT TO U IN THE DORMS “yah dave dropped out cuz he built a fucking person”
victor frankenstein was a little bITCH and he had no degree at all, he was at college for like, a year and then he was like “lol these bitches ain’t got nothing on me” and he just got an apartment and stopped going to school so he could build a person. i don’t think he even formally dropped out, he just kind of disappeared and nobody even questioned it because that’s what you expect when some cocky asshole comes to class like “i know more than everyone in this school and one day i’m going to prove it by ending dEATH ITSELF”
fucking bullshit victor, come home and eat some goddamn soup you wussass teenager
fucking trashass motherfucker 19 year old sin machine
go get ur liver pecked by birds u mess of a human being
i am never going to let the world forget that victor frankenstein spent 90% of the novel moping instead of doing literally anything else. actual quote from emo kid victor frankenstein “my only solace was silence - deep, dark, deathlike silence” like HOW EXTRA
You’d almost think Mary Shelly was taking inspiration from someone she knew….
Leave Lord Byron alone
Lord Byron deserves what he gets and he knows it
This is the kind of discourse our world needs
For your morning reading pleasure. Just try eating breakfast whilst giggling over this.
A Christian Doctor Who Performs Abortions Explains His Convictions
In a given week, he might drive between Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi — states where anti-choice legislators are working to end abortion entirely with waves of new restrictions. He says, “What I’m doing is right, because it’s always right to help people.”

https://www.change.org/p/electoral-college-electors-electoral-college-make-hillary-clinton-president-on-december-19
Y'all. This is a petition to force the electoral college to pay attention to us. Even if it doesn’t work, it will be brought before them if there are enough signatures. IF YOU GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE FUTURE OF AMERICAN AND SAFTEY OF OUR PEOPLE PLEASE SIGN THIS. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
#NotMyPresident
The electoral college does not vote until December 19th. We have 40 days.
What does this mean?
Right now, the presidential election results are only a PROJECTION of the election outcome. They are PRELIMINARY RESULTS. A candidate still needs to earn 270 electoral votes to win. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, which means that more than 50% of the voters wanted her for president. The electoral college shouldn’t guarantee an override of the public’s opinion– and it doesn’t have to.
There are 21 states that do NOT restrict which candidate the electors vote for. Out of these 21, Hillary lost the following:
As you can see, these states are worth 166 electoral votes. As it currently stands, Hillary Clinton is projected to receive 232 votes. Trump is projected to win 306. This means that 37 votes need to be taken away from Trump to bring him down to 269. Hillary Clinton needs 38 votes ADDED to win 270. These electoral voters can also abstain, which means that they can refuse to vote for either candidate. If 37 of the voters within these states abstain then no candidate will have reached the required 270. In this case, the vote would be taken to the House.
Trump won Pennsylvania, a state that typically votes blue, by less than 100,000 votes. While it is highly unlikely to get all 20 electoral voters to cross party lines and vote democrat, it also isn’t impossible to convince a few of them to be “faithless electors.” We only need to convince 38 out of the 166. That is 23%. There are SIXTEEN states we need to focus our attention on.
A move like this would be unprecedented. However, as we all saw on November 8th, odds don’t guarantee reality. Trump had a less than 20% winning, yet given the circumstances, enough people came together and made it happen. We can make this happen.
Ask yourself this: What do we have left to lose? We can stay complacent and accept that this country will be run by a racist, sexist, islamophobic, homophobic, ablest bigot, or we can at least try.
How?
SPREAD THE WORD. Trend #NotMyPresident to let people know that we do not accept being led by a man who does not care about our wellbeing. Email your professors, email the dean of your colleges. The last thing a university wants is negative press. Millenials can take a stand, but that doesn’t mean we have to be the only ones. Church-led events helped bring a lot of disillusioned voters to the polls. Spread the word in any way possible, whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or even in person. Stage a peaceful protest. Hand out flyers. Let the people around you know that you don’t accept this man as your leader when he won’t even accept you as a citizen with your designated rights.
These 166 people need to face the consequences of electing this man.
Do this for the people who couldn’t vote. Do this for the people who live in the very real fear of being deported. Do this for the people who will have to face the rise in hate crimes. Do this for the people who have a very real possibility of losing their rights. Do this for the people who will no longer afford necessities.
This is how it is: Trump gets sworn in January 20th. We’ve still got 2.5-ish months under the Obama Administration. Between now and then there’s the chance to make a media circus out of Donald Trump’s upcoming sexual assault trial, creating more friction between him and his party, giving us at least a little breathing room in congress. He’s appointing three new judges this term, so checks and balances (which weren’t really adjusted well for a two-party system) won’t be in good working condition for the Democrats (which counts third-party and non-voters and basically any minority because welcome to reality).
So first thing: fight for that media circus. House reps will do ANYTHING for reelection. Friction within the party will force them to pick sides.
Second thing: VOTE IN 2018. Mid-term elections are a thing. ALL 435 SEATS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WILL BE CONTESTED. Go out and VOTE. We can win back the house. That’s one victory we sorely need. 33/100 SEATS OF SENATE WILL BE CONTESTED. We can win that back, too. 38 GOVERNORSHIPS WILL BE CONTESTED. If your county’s red, time to turn that around. VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6TH, 2018.
The clock is ticking guys.
Last Chance
Ok Folks, listen up. The electoral college doesn’t vote officially until December 19th. It is extremely rare and almost unheard of for them to vote against the majority of their district BUT IT CAN HAPPEN. The Electoral College was made for exactly this purpose! Remember, prior to December 19th, we have:
Court Case against Trump University Court Case Against Trump for accusations for rape and sexual assault If we pull together, we can swing this. We will have to be tireless. We will have to be unyielding. We will have to write, call, and march on every swing state that can have their electoral vote differently. We have to make our voices heard. Hillary WON the popular vote which means more of America wants her to be President than Trump. There is precedence for this to happen. There is cause. There is hope. With no state law against Pennsylvania voting against their popular vote, that’s 20 to go to Hillary. If Florida or any three other states swing, SHE WINS.
If we get them to vote different, we don’t have to worry about Trump or Pence because Hillary will have won. Until she hands over the nomination, she is still saying she is waiting for the official electoral votes to be made.
We can do this. We can win. LET’S SPREAD THIS LIKE WILD FIRE ON HERE AND FACEBOOK!
Dear god, someone tell me what to do
Find out the swing vote state’s Electoral College Representatives and phone, mail, email, share, and march on their offices. We have just over a month to get this together. If the Electoral College decides to change their votes for Hillary on December 19th, we will have Hillary as our President. The reason why so many people aren’t talking about this is because it’s very rare for the Electoral College to vote differently than the districts. Some states even have laws preventing that, such as Ohio and North Carolina. But, Pennsylvania does NOT have that law. Florida is tricky, but it can be done. NH is also another one that can swing it as well. If we get just a few of them to switch, we will have won.
Please do something about this and don’t just give up. sincerely, the whole world
Goddamn. Count me in.
Good. Let’s fucking do this.
I’m going to fight to protect so many communities with every option we got. And if those options don’t work, we are going to find more.
“No ID, no water” for some Flint residents?
With unsafe tap water continuing to flow out of the faucets in Flint, Michigan, reports on the internet say undocumented immigrants and those without ID are being turned away from getting bottled water. But some on social media are fighting back to help get water to those who need it.
HEY GUESS WHAT?
If you want to make sure undocumented people in Flint get clean water, you can donate here!
St Mary’s Church, where we plan to take the water, is specifically distributing it to undocumented people. @radically-disabled, @somepplcallmejoce, @pragula and I hope to bring water up to Flint every couple of weeks, as long as we have the funds to do so. It is so so important that everyone has clean and safe drinking water, regardless of whether or not they have papers.
This is really important, friends, so can you please signal boost this.
Thermochromic table by Jay Watson
imagine banging someone on that table
imagine being home alone and seeing imprints on that table
noooooo stop
Imagine having a friend sit at that table for a long while, but when they get up there’s no imprints at all.
What if you got up after trying to console a crying friend, and found that you had no imprints… and they were crying because they missed you?
1% of the UK population is A sexual, but do we understand what that means?
Not the best informational source. It lists AVEN and the Asexuality Visibility and Education Network as 2 separate things, notes the 1% of the population statistics, and doesn’t go too in depth.
However, at least the community’s being talked about. No comments on the article site as of yet, but there may be some later on, so approach with care if you’re sensitive to acephobia.
“A sexuality”
It’s also tagged as “Gender Equality”.
A misunderstood identity indeed.
Just read the other posts by the author.
Homosexuality, should it be illegal?
It’s difficult to address this question without punching the air with a rainbow flag or gasping in horror, but in some countries the answer is a simple yes.
“Should it be illegal? … In some countries, yes.” Really now?
Since the 1800’s gay and lesbian people have been widely discriminated. Now as we enter 2016 these times have moved on
Times were just peachy for them before the 1800s? And I’m relieved to hear that gay and lesbian people are no longer being discriminated against now in 2016. Glad we solved that problem.
We as active members of the pubic must work hard
Proofreading. I know it takes time, but it’s useful. (Although, a deliberate joke about “active members of the pubic” might have worked over in the “A sexual” piece…)
Around the world, there are thousands and thousands of organisations campaigning for human rights, female quality, anti war, shouldn’t our trans gender family be just as important?
Good thing people are finally recognizing the need for female quality. I’m so tired of all these shoddy, substandard females. They’re a safety hazard!
And “trans gender”. The A sexuals aren’t the only ones who get the added space treatment.
These articles all come off like they’re a 9th grader’s “Five Paragraph Essay”.
Ugh saw this article in my alerts today… how this “journalist” has a job is beyond me
It’s not a job. If you look at the info on that site, it’s basically a content exploitation farm. You write content, they put ads on your stuff. The more content they have, the bigger The Google thinks they are, so the more they’ll turn up in search results. The more they’re in search results, the more ads they can show on your stuff. If you’re lucky, they might pay you well below scale. (But you get “experience” and “exposure”!)
People link to it because they’re pretending to be a news site, but they brag about having no editorial control (over content or quality), which basically means they’re really no different than, say, Tumblr.
this is the most graceful thing ever
All men benefit from women’s reinforced fear of being hurt for saying no.
read it again and again
Understand that this applies even to non-sexual situations. Women are more likely to be asked for favors from coworkers. Regular “can you file this for me” / “can you cover my shift” / “can you finish up this paperwork” workplace favors. Men are less likely to return those favors. Women are more likely to be seen as “difficult to work with” if they refuse to do favors when requested. Being viewed as ungenerous has negative social and professional consequences.
So yes, even gay men benefit. All men benefit from women’s reinforced fear of being hurt, not just physically, but also socially and professionally, for saying no to anything at all.

Thinking a lot lately about how this stuff plays out in two circles where I spend a lot of time–the comics community, and the development / implementation of CoCs and harassment policies; and how it intersects with both of those for freelancers in particular.
