I accidentally stumbled on this cool dreamy filter trick with a hue layer and I wanted to share it with you guys!! 🥹 (explanation under the cut)

^before and after

1) flatten original drawing to a single layer

2) make a layer behind the og drawing layer and fill it with a solid, fully saturated, medium-light color (ex. pink or orange)

3) duplicate the original drawing layer above and set it to "HUE" !!

4) adjust the opacity of the original drawing layer (in the middle, sandwiched btwn the HUE layer and solid bg color layer) to your liking~ (below: 0%, 32%, 60%)

AND YOU'RE DONE!! YAY ✨

Note: the bg color underneath can be any hue, and the exact value doesn't matter either (i would go for medium-light for pastel look- not dark or very light) but it must be saturated! If it is not saturated, then the hues from the "hue layer" won't be transferred! If it is completely grey, the hue layer won't work at all:

Note 2: this effect is not the same as just lowering the contrast! I tried lowering the contrast using CSP's function and it gave me this ugly grey result (it's the same as if the "bg color" was set to grey, like the above pic!) So this "hue filter" method lowers the contrast while keeping rich, dreamy colors!!👀✨

EXPERIMENTED & SHARING SOME MORE COOL FILTERS/EFFECTS!!! under the cut 👀🌈💖✨

1) Alternative "brightness layer" method! this one was shown to me by someone on twitter.

- Create a layer above the original drawing filled with a saturated color, and set the layer mode to "brightness". Then, adjust to your liking! Done!

Out of curiosity, I tested and compared this method to my hue layer method, and the effect is in fact different!! as you can see below:

pics 1-2 = brightness layer method; pics 3-4 = hue layer method. I used the same pink color in both as a control. It also yields a pastel filter look, but it's different..!! A cooler, less saturated look.. still v cool

2) "Dreamy Hue Filter 2.0" This method expands on my hue filter method!! First, complete the steps of the hue filter method so you have your 3 layers ready (hue layer, og drawing, bg color)

- turn off original drawing layer so only the hue & background color layers remain, and merge visible to a new layer

- using that new layer, play around w diff layer modes!!! The possibilities are endless... Some examples below:

^new layer set to "overlay" (63%), og drawing at 100%

^new layer set to "pin light" (61%), og drawing at 100%

^combining the new layer with the original hue filter effect; layers in order from top to bottom:

- new layer (color burn): 89%

- hue layer: 100%

- original drawing layer (normal): 63%

- background color layer

^combining the new layer with the original hue filter effect; layers in order from top to bottom:

- new layer (PIN LIGHT): 38%

- hue layer: 100%

- original drawing layer (normal): 58%

- background color layer

^THIS ONE IS MY FAV TEST SO FAR... I ran out of image space to show the comparison (see here) but it makes the dreamy filter effect even more saturated... like a rainbow candy dreamy filter... it's so pretty I'm drooling 😭😭

BSH is so pressed about JNS but his real love rivals haven't even shown up yet. I wonder what he's gonna act like KSH gets Braun back 😭😭 or when J3 comes around. It's bout a be a fist fight. Especially when Choi pulls up

The good thing about Braun is ur unlikely to perceive him as kse's friend, J3 is too quiet and talks too slowly for bsh to get a handle on their relationship, he's also powerful so kse is unlikely to be in a situation where he's risking his life for him.

Bsh's biggest threat is hyunmu team 1, I mean look at these guys.

A big strong guy, huge tits, sad eyes. Honest, dependable, morally upright. Very obviously YEARNS for kse, keeps saying things like "you can make a new home here with us" will probably be very direct about saying bsh is a BAD, UNTRUSTWORTHY, person and that kse should stay away from him.

And a suave, older gentleman who smiles too much, puts his hands all over kse without hesitation, is clearly very rugged and cool, kse is always looking at him with big bug eyes.

If these guys show up it's over for him.

I’m so happy bds-nim has complex characters with strong personalities and consistent characterization, to the point that rereading is really fun and I understand dialogue the more I analyze

There are some actions/dialogues/themes that I don’t understand. I try to figure it out so much that it’s lowk agonizing. Sometimes it’s to the extent that I’m like “why am I putting so much effort into understanding a fictional character ??? It could mean nothing. It’s fully possible the author hasn’t put this much thought into it. I mean, there’s plenty of media where I can’t think too much about the characters, because a motivation or trait doesn’t actually mean anything outside of how it moves the plot, and getting my expectations up will only disappoint me.”

Go back to point 1.

there’s definitely meaning. It’s worth it to analyze because it makes me enjoy the characters and the story more, and I don’t think bds-nim will let me down.
