Yes, yes, yes!
This was the cutest part of the podcast
But....
They donāt seem to think so
And at that moment a chill wind suddenly swept through the air.
āIf Uncle Donald was seeing you, why is he still the angriest guy we know?ā: DuckTales and mental health
Because mental health issues are often chronic-Ā itās not something you ācure.ā Dewey doesnāt know that yet. Donald wasnāt able to erase his anger issues, but he was able to examine them. He was able to figure out why he was so angry. (Iām going to cry a lot because Donald fears that the worldās out to get him and heās misunderstood). And he was able to manage his fear and anger and channel this into protecting his family.
Most mental health issues arenāt things you cure. Theyāre things you learn to live with. A good therapist helps you determine strategies to manage it- which Jones does.
This is positive representation for mental health and therapy on so many levels! We see a man willing to visit a therapist so he can become a better father. And we see that Donaldās learned coping strategies to manage his anger and fear. Best dad!! ā„ļøā„ļøā„ļøššš
ALSO it takes a lot of long, hard work to go to therapy!! It takes courage and vulnerability and a lot of practice as you develop coping skills. Itās not easy, and I speak from experience. Donald Fauntleroy Duck DID THAT. For his kids and for himself!!! Best dad and strongest duck!! ā„ļøā„ļø It really does make him the most daring adventurer of all time.
The nuance in this episode is astounding. Iām really proud of DuckTales for digging so deep into such an important topic.
This Duckburg Life Episode 3 has been released!

Does Della know that Scrooge and Donald didnāt speak to each other for ten years?
Yes.
Wait, WHAT???
WHAT????
You said you loved the idea of Della not knowing the family broke apart, but then handle it off-screen and let us know over social media she already knows? At what point did she find out? What was her reaction? Was she angry at Donald? At Scrooge? At herself? I donāt wanna be a whiny fan, but I feel like Iāve been gypped some good angst here. :(
I...dunno how to react to this.Ā
Really wanted to see Della be crushed on screen that the family broke apart in Season 3, unless Frankās answer is being deceptive, which part of me is just admittedly reaching to an extent.Ā
Then again, you never know with Frank. Maybe heās saying Della already put the pieces together and chooses not to say anything, which could be a possibility. Still, this is a creative choice I wonāt able to agree with if Della really did find out off screen about the heartbreaking reality that her family went through, during her disappearance those 10 years.
Is Louieās fixation with money/get-rich-quick schemes in any way related to him growing up in a lower income household and/or watching Donald struggle to keep down a job?
That was the initial idea in terms of his (and the other boysā) characterization.Ā Louie became fixated on money and luxury because they were always broke, Huey became hyper-responsible because Donald was so frequently overwhelmed and needed the help, and Dewey acted out because Donald put so much emphasis on trying to protect them and achieving some form of normalcy that Dewey wanted to stand out any way he could.
Wow. That just punched my gut.
