did you know that when a mouse invades a beehive to steal honey and shortly after gets stung to death, the bees, because they cannot expel the dead body ‘mummify’ it instead with propolis or ‘bee glue’? They seal the dead body airtight so pathogens cant infect the hive.
The author of ‘the song of honey’ where i read this proposes the honey bee might have inspired the ancient egyptians to develop their proces of mummification (which btw involves honey and bees wax). In general they also held the honey bee in extremely high regard, believing they sprung into existence from the tears of Ra when he cried for the death of Osiris.
