There's a website with "evidence" of lab leak theory, since they're simultaneously arguing that COVID was a deadly manmade bioweapon and also not a big deal. We need to punish China for creating a virus we believe didn't really exist and was a tool of social control. And the evidence is still just pointing to coincidences like a virology lab existing in the same city (a city of 13 million people with lots of things inside it). Despite this people - not even just MAGA! never thought this day would come but i’m currently having a customer service experience so bad right now that i’m defecting from the employee regiment and joining the customers in their next battle. i don’t know who i am anymore.

experience that makes me research local customer service supervisors for a global corporation and tag them in a LinkedIn post, to fall upon their mercy.

long story short i have worked for a call center in customer service before and i knew something was not working out. i've had to call about this issue 5 times in 4 weeks because it's still not resolved, and each time the conversation has ended i've asked for an email confirmation of our conversation and a ticket number so i can call back and reference it with a new representative.

well every time i've called, the new representative has been like "i'm so sorry, but there's no ticket by that number. i have no record of you ever calling about this. i'll start a ticket for you."

finally, the fifth time i nearly burst into tears of frustration and i said "i don't want you to start a ticket for me, because it will be the sixth ticket created for this same issue. every week, one of your colleagues tells me they'll create a a new ticket for me, and then nothing happens."

they said, "i'm sorry but i have no record of those tickets existing." and i was like i KNOW. but they doooooo what is happening.

finally i got transferred to a supervisor's supervisor.

if you've ever worked in online customer service, you know that when a customer calls with a problem, you create a "ticket" that puts that issue into the system. if you can't resolve it, it goes into a ticket queue, where other people with the ability to resolve it select it, put it into their personal working queue, and resolve it.

well after 30 minutes of searching, this supervisor tells me, dumbfounded, that she's discovered a completely unique queue she's never seen before, where my tickets have been going somehow. a pocket universe queue that no one has access to or can edit or select from, not even her. she has no idea what's happening. she's like "yes, here are all your tickets, and no one can open them or comment on them or resolve them.....this is crazy......" and it's JUST my tickets in there. no one else's. of tens of thousands of customers.

all professionalism fell by the wayside. i told her i've worked with those queues before and also found that totally wild. she was like "what the hell is going on...." and talked me through everything she was seeing and how gobsmacked she was. we were both like "this is one for the books truly"

tells me she's going to have to bring this up above herself because this is a really big error on like, a coding level, that she has no idea how to resolve. tells me she will personally call me back tomorrow to update me.

four days pass with no word.

i call customer service again. random agent. explain the entire situation, including that last bit.

agent says "i'm sorry but i have no record of those tickets existing. i'll have to start a ticket for you. rest assured, it will be resolved."

i said, "no it won't be. it never will be. because they're in the special queue."

clearly not believing me, they said, "i've heard nothing about that. i'll start a new ticket for you."

We were doing an activity where the kids got to make a playbill for a musical about themselves and all the other kids were like “character list: mommy, daddy, me, my brother, my best friend” “scenes: I get a puppy, first day of school, my baby sister is born”

But one little girl was like “oh, it’s a musical about ME you say” and the character list was all the other girls in the class cast as her body parts, and a story about how her body works.

“Kaylee is nice so she will be the heart. Lily is my kidneys. Sapphire is the lungs.”

She surreptitiously showed me that the girl who kept taking the crayons she was using was cast specifically as “left buttcheek” and I had to pretend like that wasn’t the funniest thing I’d ever seen.

Today I turned 25, and today marks the beginning of my 26th year in the G@za Strip. Since my birth, I have witnessed seven devastating and bloody wars, filled with fear, deatth, and hunger. Fortunately, I survived six of them, but in this seventh and most recent war, I was severely injured when our house was bombed while we were inside. I still suffer from shrapnel embedded in my body, which doctors here in G@za have been unable to remove due to the collapse and destruction of our healthcare system. So far!

As I write these words, the war of extermination continues. For three years until now, we have been completely besieged, starved, displaced, and killed with internationally prohibited weapons. We suffer from hunger and food deprivation. Worse still, we are deprived of medicine and painkillers, which are prevented from entering due to the Zionist siege. Severe restrictions are imposed on food, supplies, and water. We are suffering immensely. The Zionists have robbed me of all my aspirations and dreams since birth.

I am Kareman, a Palestinian mother from Gaza, and we are still alive after 475 days of war that began on October 7, 2023, and ended today. However, despite being alive, pain and sorrow have not left us. Everything around us has turned to rubble. I once said, "This pain will end one day, and I believe in that," but I never imagined that the pain would follow us in this way.

We returned to our home, only to find that the pain has deepened. Our home, which once embraced us, is now destroyed. The fishing boat, which was our only source of livelihood, was consumed by fire, taking away all hope. The fishing nets and equipment, which were our means of survival, have been burned. My husband, who supported us with his work, now has nothing but memories😭💔

As for me, I was a children's teacher, teaching them to love life despite the difficulties, but my school, which was once a place of hope, is now nothing but ash. We have lost everything, but we still hold on to hope thanks to Hamoud, who gives us the strength to keep going.

Today, we need you more than ever. We ask for your help in repairing my husband's fishing boat, as we have no other source of income. If we don't get the support to repair it, we will remain trapped in a cycle of poverty and need. But if we stand together, we can rise again.

I highly recommend developing a tolerance for polite low level conflict, not just because it will serve you well when employers or whoever try to impose bullshit on you with the expectation you'll fold rather than expend energy arguing, but because it will make you a genuine asset to your friends and allies whenever they're in positions where they're less able to fight for themselves.

the first and most important step is learning to stay calm when someone with authority tries to pressure you. take a breath, think about what you actually believe, and respond in your own time. if they try to brush past or talk over you, you can say "excuse me, can I think about that for a moment. it sucks that the overwhelming majority of medical messaging around salt/sodium is "evil poisonous substance that you're definitely already eating way too much of," because like. you do still need it. (trust me, as a POTS-haver, I've had to completely rewire my own brain about salt.) and you need more salt when the entire northern hemisphere is hot enough to fry an egg on. ever tried sucking down the recommended 64oz of hydration per day entirely as water, only to find you're peeing constantly without any of the purported benefits of being "hydrated"? assuming you don't have another medical condition that causes frequent urination, your body probably needed more salt/electrolytes to be able to hold onto that water and make use of it. if there was ever a time to keep a sports drink/pedialyte/etc within constant reach, it's when the heat index is 110°F/43°C.
