How The Blog Works

This blog is dedicated to teaching others about schizophrenia and giving those with it some support. You can vent, rant, or just talk to me!

But for these, please give trigger warnings. But if you don't give trigger warnings, then I will do it for you. ^^ I want people to feel safe here!

Doing a whole rebranding to make it all safer for others. I wanted to make this more of a safe place for all with disorders like schizophrenia, schizoaffective, etc.

Whenever I make a post simply pointing out that a popular Internet trend it sanist/ableist and people should probably stop, I get tons of replies from people who are not schizo-spec or psychotic being like "but I think it's funny!!" or "how is that harmful? I haven't noticed it being harmful" or "how dare you sensor me!!!"

If you think this trend of blatant sanism/ableism is funny, that says a lot about you. You are kind of just exposing yourself for not caring about schizo-spec or psychotic people, and you are showing that again by arguing with me about what I find personally offensive. Also usually it literally isn't even that funny.

If you can't personally see how it is harmful to schizo-spec and psychotic people, then congratulations!!! You have the privilege of not experiencing the highly stigmatized symptoms that we do. Maybe you could use that privilege to listen to us and advocate for us, since your voice will be respected more by others who are not schizo-spec or psychotic.

And lastly, I do not have the power to sensor anyone. I don't own a social media website, and I am not part of any governing body. When I state my opinion on what is offensive to me and my community, who are a part of a highly stigmatized minority group, I have no power over what you can say. I am simply asking you to consider my point of view for a change, and it seems like you can't do that if you are immediately defensive.

All this is to say, please actually consider what I am saying before you argue. And obviously I'm not perfect, I can get things wrong, and I appreciate when people genuinely try to correct me when it comes to wording things properly or spelling. But for the most part, those posts are just me saying what I find offensive as a schizophrenic person, and comments like those ones feel like nonschizophrenic people arguing and saying I shouldn't be offended, or they just don't care and will continue anyway. Just please think about why you are defending something sanist/ableist to someone directly affected by it.

Apologies. This blog has been on the counter and kinda neglected. But yes. I should've made that more obvious.

This blog is meant to be a place for others with schizophrenia, psychosis, and such. I'll need to rework it so it's more inclusive like I wanted.

If you know that someone is psychotic you only know one thing about them.

You only know that they are experiencing psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions and/or paranoia. That's literally all you know.

You don't know how they feel about it at all. You don't know if this is a daily thing that they can cope with, or the most traumatic moment of their life.

You don't know if they have an incredible support system or if they are facing it entirely on their own.

You don't know if they are on a heavy dose of antipsychotics and are seeing a therapist weekly, or if they have never been treated in their life.

You don't know if this is the single most difficult aspect of their life, or if this is just another brick on their heavy load of daily struggles.

So the next time you come across someone who is publicly psychotic (like someone having a conversation with someone who isn't actually there), consider that you don't actually know most things about that person. You know one thing, you don't know their whole story. And you can't possibly know what is best for them, just because you happen to not experience psychosis. They could be on their way home from work about to see their spouse and kids, and this is just a regular part of their life. Or they could be a homeless person who is in crisis and has no one to help them. Sadly you can't possibly know without actually knowing the person.

So please, try not to assume anything about people you encounter who are visibly psychotic. Don't try and push your ideal of healthy on to them. Don't avoid them like they are less than human. Just treat everyone with basic respect. And only impose your idea of help when you truly know the person and what's best for them.

Just a little info for any schizospec or psychotic person :

Internal hallucinations are a thing.

You have "thoughts" that don't sound like your voice?

They work independently of your own thoughts/ inner monologue?

You have multiple going on?

They won't stop even if you're trying to think about something else?

They're louder than your own inner monologue?

They sound like the music you hear in your head when listening to headphones ? Like a in-between thing between your head and ears?

They sound or work exactly like your external hallucinations but inside your head?

They sound like different beings are inside your head talking?

Those are internal hallucinations

There are research paper about it but it's barely talked about. Some psychiatrists don't even believe in them but they're a real and valid hallucination.
