It ain’t easy being geeky
Very impressive origami by Phanerozoic Paperfolding (Ari Benjamin) @lungfishspeaks on Twitter
Denizens of the Cambridge Greensand of England, ~100 million years ago…
Macrurosaurus, Platypterygius (w/ammonite), Anoplosaurus and Ikrandraco (yes, “Ikran” as in the flying creatures from Avatar, named because of the crest on the underside of its jaw!).
Oh, ho ho hooo
FINALLY an advent calendar perfect a scientist’s happy holidays needs. The ones with chocolate in them are fun but aren’t as tasty.
Pangaea map by Richard Masdon
Mmm how’d he manage to make dinosaurs and geology accurate but cute?? Delicious!!
Something that’s really fun is going back to an animal you knew about as a kid and discovering all the new things that have been learned about it in the intervening time. Some of them completely change how you perceive the animal!
I think my personal favorite is with dinosaurs at the moment. Every new fact and theory I read about T-Rexes and raptors is interesting, but it just keeps slaying me that our understanding of the spinosaurus has evolved from “T-Rex, but bigger and with sails” to “the biggest, meanest duck that has ever lived.”
This for me was that my favourite dinosaur isn’t real because scientists put the wrong skull on the wrong body
You aren’t a real science major until someone asks what you majored in then TOTALLY miss the mark on what you actually study, yet you get your hopes up everytime
Neighbour: so what’s your major??
Me: Archaeology
Neighbour: oh I know what that is!!
Me: *excited and ready to have an in-depth convo*
Neighbour: yeah, you must know a lot about volcanoes!!
Me:
these are all rocks
Aah finally. A meal where I can get all my vitamins and… minerals
Oh how I desperately want to time travel not to change the past, but to just see the dinosaurs and watch the earth change and evolve over billions of years
Future netflix feature ^^^
