Ending of Severance S2 is making me insane because SHAME ON US!!!Â
I think a lot of people (myself included) thought that Mark S. would meet Gemma/ Ms.Casey and have some sort of innate fondness or love for her that would transcend severance and theyâd escape together. But Mark S IS NOT Mark Scout. How many times can they tell us that! He is a separate person! But I kept thinking of them as the same in some way. My mom is actually upset because she thinks Mark and Helly's relationship is worth less than Mark and Gemma's, which is kind of the whole point right? Why is their relationship worth less? Because they aren't real people? Who gets to say what a real person is!!!
This ending is really damning of Lumon (and of US!) because they really did create entirely separate consciousness. And to dismiss them as "innies" and not real people is flawed. They are separate people with autonomy and feelings and goals. People who are murdered at a momentâs notice by themselves and expected to go along with it!Â
Of course he doesnât choose Gemma, he doesnât even know her! He wonât die for her! And the only person he has ever loved is right there!Â
I am good. I am loved.
Iâm just so tired.
I canât stop thinking about what it must feel like to know that another You exists and is more loved, more cherished, more respected by those close to her, (and you can even argue more powerful if you consider what she was able to accomplish as an innie vs Helena as a puppet of the Eagan family!) but you could never be Her.
To be Her would mean being wiped clean of all of your past, your obligations, responsibilities, family. But you canât start over with a clean slate if you are the slate, so you pretend and itâs working, for a little while.
And then, despite your best efforts, someone who lovers Her so much that he hates you confirms what you already knew. You will never be Her. And theyâll be disappointed every time.
Imma remain misunderstood because I don't like to do too much talking đ´

vampirism poses the question "what if there was a fundamental, horrible, unending well of want in your soul that, if truly satisfied, would lead to great pain for all those you hold closest and, in turn, their absolute and total revilement of you?" and naturally as a person with no problems I don't relate to this in any way at all.
vampirism also poses the question "what if someone you loved, through no fault of their own, needed something from you, and giving it to them and seeing them happy provided you the greatest joy, and you were the only one who could do it, but at the same time it was slowly draining all your life out of you?" which is also a completely unrelatable idea to me because I'm a normal person with no issues.
