After finishing the Shulk pixel art I worked on and posted a week ago, I spent more time and got to finish pixel art for the main trio of Xenoblade 1! I had a lot of fun working on them and it wasn't too bad all things considered! (except Reyn's outfit omg)

The vast majority of conservatives think of themselves as underdogs being repressed by the government/the elite, and they value personal freedom (specifically their personal freedom, they don’t care about other people). The will almost always agree with leftist points if you can find a way to blame the problem on their vague enemies (useful, since rich people are the root of most problems), and tie it back to their ability to say fuck everyone else. NEVER appeal to science, theory, logic, or human goodness. Make it seem as if you are a paranoid lunatic who trusts no one. They love it.

I say that I hate what the internet has done to the word triggered and people think it's because the word has been divorced from its original purpose to describe trauma and PTSD when what I really mean is that I hate that the internet has erased the fact the word triggered was and continues to used not just in mental health spaces but also in general medical spaces to refer to any symptom of ANYTHING that can be set off by outside factors.
Now you've got people with conditions like OCD, autism, ADHD, allergies, chronic pain, seizures, etc who are told by one group of people that triggers are a joke and an insult and then told by the "correct" and "good" people that triggers are exclusive to trauma and no one should use them if they aren't referring to actual PTSD flashbacks or massive panic attacks and now other ill and disabled people are missing a vital term to describe their experiences because they think they're not allowed to use it.
Like c'mon, in allergy spaces fooda with allergens are literally referred to as trigger foods and you've still got "mental health activists" online insisting that you can only say you've been triggered by something if you have PTSD. That isn't advocacy for traumatized people, it's ableism that is stealing important language from EVERYONE.

What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?
It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.
My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂
I remember walking down the street and seeing a sign protesting George W. Bush’s war on Iraq, so I think that.
1992 Los Angeles riots. My family was living in LA, we were actually just preparing to move so it's this weird mess of boxes and burning and my parents being outraged (not surprised) at the outcome of the trial. I feel like that being the first news story I can remember is very on brand since it was my parents who taught me how to protest.

Mostly because it was part of the news, every night, for 14 months (444 days). And I remember when it ended, and they got to go home.
I remember Diana & Charles getting married, bc I remember how big the train on her wedding dress was. I would have been... 3 or 4.
I vaguely remember the Iran-Contra scandal being on TV a lot when I was about 7-8, and it was like, I'm pretty sure I don't have to know about this yet. But somehow I kinda knew about it anyway.

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.

hey yall,wanted to update that tumblr alerted me that the mature tag was removed from my gifset which was unexpected because i don’t think they even read my appeals for the ones all over my art.
ironically? the first time they removed a mature tag (on an ask i received) was after i mentioned it in a different post i made that got 11k notes meaning someone from staff definitely saw it and presumably removed it the tag.
this leads me to believe that they 10000% know this is a bigger problem than they let on because the only two times they have removed mature tags on my posts about black women and girls, was when i, or someone else, mentioned it with receipts on a post that got thousands of notes.
idk what’s worse? knowing this system targets certain people and still using it bc it’s cheaper or whatever than any real moderation.. or only stepping in and changing it when enough people complain. not sure how i feel about either.
