8 DIVIDED BY 8 is 1.
I have no fucking clue how you can get 16 out of this. I don’t think you’re bad at math, I think you just need glasses.

You do the parentheses, then you go left to right.
That isn’t how this works…..

M isn’t in the original problem but 8÷2 still needs a resolution. You have to solve 8÷2 as-is after (2+2) no matter what.
So you’re not following PEMDAS by factoring x4 into 8÷2.
It’s literally this simple.

This is something I’ve learnt the hard way. (Please excuse me if I have written something wrong, English is not my mother language)
1. Your phone calculator is not scientific. It’s for basic operations, what you need is a real scientific calculator like the one in my image.
2. PEMDAS IS PEMDAS, Math never changes.

I stared at this for so long trying to figure this out and:

8 ÷ 2(2+2) REMEMBER PEMDAS! P - PARENTHESIS E - EXPONENTS M - MULTIPLICATION D - DIVISION A - ADDITION S - SUBTRACTION So following this method, you do what’s in the parenthesis first (2+2). Since there is no additional parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, or division to do within the parenthesis, you move on to addition. 2+2=4… since there is no subtraction to do within the parenthesis, you’re done with that part of the equation. Then you repeat until you have an executable function. Since (4) is not an equation, you move to exponents. Since there is none, you move to multiplication, which since 4 is in ()’s a number next a term in ()’s indicates multiplication. So 2(4) = 8. Next you do division, 8÷8 = 1…. and since there is no remaining addition or subtraction to do, you are done with the equation.
- For those that came up with 16… for it to have come up as 16 it would have had to look like this - (8÷2)(2+2) But since the equation is 8÷2(2+2), the correct answer is 1.

I've come up with a new comic idea! I really hope this one pans out. The first picture is of my OC Liam, the next us Sammi, his sister, the one after is of Chrys and Liam (her name is Irys now though and she looks completely different), and the last one is of Sammit and Liam.
