This isn’t mentioned in Brotherhood, but the reason Roy and Riza came to Resembool scouting out the Elrics is because someone fucked up the ages on Ed and Al’s file.
Literally Roy and Riza are riding in the back of some horse-drawn carriage into Resembool chatting with the driver like “yes we’ve heard rumors of two alchemist brothers here, Ed and Al Elric ages 31 and 30 respectively. Do you know where they live?” And the driver pretty much answers with “lol what? Those kids are like 10.”
Except now Roy and Riza are already THERE so they decide “Fuck it. Let’s pay a visit anyway.”
So everything that went down in the series is thanks to some mysterious fuck up in the Amestrian Intelligence Department and I salute that person.
if youre in the US (especially the northeast + michigan) i would avoid bagged salads/greens and generally wash your produce very thoroughly unless you want the diarrhea parasite
Michigan is experiencing its largest outbreak of a parasitic infection that causes severe diarrhea. Nearly 1,000 people have been diagnosed
this is not life-threatening, but also who wants weeks of diarrhea and a fucking parasite in them lol. if you suspect you've already had this and it's passed, i would see a doctor. you might need an antiparasitic anyway. if you're actively sick, see a doctor and they might be able to prescribe medication to help you get over it faster.
try to avoid eating raw vegetables, scrub fruit with a produce brush and rinse thoroughly with water. again, don't bother with premade greens or bagged salads. if you buy lettuce, remove the outer 2-3 layers of leaves.
there are UNVERIFIED rumors that the greens have been linked to a company that sources to taco bell. some locations have been actively pulling fresh ingredients like lettuce, avocado, and pico de gallo to mitigate the threat, so i would avoid any products from them just in case. considering how vast supply chains are, i'd be wary of any fast food greens in general for now.
I have someone (a mutual) on Bluesky routinely whining about how practical gun effects like blanks and squibs aren't used anymore. I'm sure there's nostalgia for the "realism" but I don't feel like it's the same as wanting other practical effects in films. There's far less history of a creature puppet accidentally killing someone on set. If you're going to have machines whose function is to kill people in your movie, I do agree with Chad that nowadays there should be no reason to have one on set that is capable of killing someone.
Yes, it is INCREDIBLY goofy and unconvincing when a movie's digital firearms effects budget is low, but the grievance should be against the effects effort, not pining for the "good ol days" of functioning firearms. I don't think there are many actors out there who miss having live firearms on-set.
The John Wick movies are OVERFLOWING with gun use, some even call it fetishistic (it is) but I don't like these "classic film buffs" who have a nostalgia for the days of using functioning guns and blanks.
Despite safety regulations, people are STILL dying on movie sets from firearm accidents, and it's one case where digital effects aren't just a budgetary shortcut, they should be a safety necessity.
I haven't seen anyone talking about this and just wanted to make a quick post on here.
Akihiro Miwa recently passed away peacefully june 20th, and was not only a drag queen and a queer icon, but also the japanese voice of Arceus in the movie Arceus and the jewel of life, as well as the witch from Howl's moving castle and Moro from Princess Mononke.
Rest in peace and thank you for the wonderfull impact you made in this world.
The boulder pushing punishment is iconic. But I think more people should know the reason Sisyphus was punished to begin with, which was for cheating death, twice.
The first time he cheated death, Sisyphus had just angered Zeus by revealing the location of the Asopid Aegina whom Zeus abducted. Which is super valid, fuck Zeus.
Sisyphus knew that Zeus would send the god of death Thanatos after him, so he prepared a trap and trapped Thanatos in the chains meant for him.
After that, nothing on Earth was able to die so long as Thanatos was in chains. Which meant no animals could be sacrificed to the gods. This angered the gods, who made Sisyphus' life so miserable with pain and illness that he would beg for death. And so he released Thanatos.
But then came the second time Sisyphus cheated death. As he was dying, he asked his wife to dump his naked corpse in the middle of the public square. Denied a proper burial, his soul ended up on the far side of the river Styx, unable to cross.
He complained to Hades and Persephone about how his wife disrespected him, and begged them to let him return briefly to the world of the living to scold her and make her bury him properly. They agreed, and Sisyphus returned to life. He then embraced his wife, and refused to return to the Underworld.
It's only when he finally died of old age that he was sent to Tartarus and punished with the boulder.
I don't remember where I've seen it, but I like the interpretation that Sisyphus doesn't have to push the boulder. He can choose to stay in Tartarus and rest. But he was promised that if he managed to push the boulder to the top of the mountain, he'll ascend to Elysium.
And Sisyphus, in his stubbornness and cleverness, refuses to give up on a challenge.
One must indeed imagine Sisyphus happy, planning and scheming about how he'll cheat the gods next.
I love how Zohran Mamdani is wearing a suit everywhere. And if he has anything else he puts it ON TOP of the suit. A basketball jersey. A high-vis vest. All worn over the suit. He’s like the mayor character in a cartoon who’s always dressed as The Mayor. If I didn’t know who he was and he biked past me in NYC I’d be like holy shit was that the mayor
Not to bring the serious to a very fun post, but this reaction is exactly what Mamdani is working for with his image, because in a very real way the most effective way for him to be The Mayor is if he looks like The Mayor.
This is a man who is VIOLENTLY aware that when it comes to conservatives, he is a Muslim first, a Brown Man second, an Immigrant third, a Socialist fourth, and a human a very distant fifth, if considered at all. He was also a young adult during the Obama Years and will have seen Republicans rip Obama to shreds for wearing a tan suit instead of a dark one and use literally ANY excuse they could to try and degrade his image.
Despite the fact that a mayor who wears a T-shirt and jeans might "seem more approachable" in the eyes of the average American, Zohran Mamdani knows that someone with his profile fundamentally cannot get away with that the way his White colleagues can. He has instead put in the effort to look professional and BE approachable, because not only does it make it easier for him to reach and represent his constituents, it forces everyone, including both his opponents and establishment Democrats, to engage with the work he is doing instead of judging his image. The fact that he is always seen in a suit and is recognisably The Mayor is, while also something he has fun with, a deliberate choice to ensure he is as inarguably A Professional Politician To Be Taken Seriously. The added humour of e.g. the hi-vis is a bonus, only achievable because he works so hard to Look Like The Mayor.
So, I will share here as well how Twitter is McFucking dead for artists and visibility. This is anecdotal, but i've been doing commission work for a decade.
I used to get A LOT of work from Twitter.
I ask my clients to answer where they saw my commission open posts.
These are how often they showed up in 2021. I used to get SO MUCH work from Twitter.
There will be more images but TLDR: Twitter is showing nothing to no one. I promise it's worth a read:
Now, 2022 and 2023 showed some waning. This is after the clownfuck that is elon the nazi bought twitter.
and now, this is now February from 2023. The decline is EXTREME.
In 2022, 88 out 178 requests were from Twitter. That's 50%
In 2023, 46 out 131 requests were from Twitter. That's 35%
In 2024, 32 out 107 requests were from Twitter. That's 29% In 2025, 5 out 71 requests were from Twitter. That's 7%
In 2026 so far, 1 out 51 requests were from Twitter. That's 1%
For Bluesky in 2026 so far, 13 out 51 requests. That's 25%
A lot has changed on my commissions since 2022, the amount i take, the style i draw, people tend to favor bigger projects now, so the decline in commissions taken reflect that. Also i took more breaks, taking less work.
I also took requests from Vgen, and more from patreon as well, but Twitter decline is absurd. Tumblr, that's been there since the beginning, has not shown such an horrible decline.
In 2022, 45 out 178 requests were from Tumblr. That's 25%
In 2025, 19 out 71 requests were from Tumblr. That's 26%
In 2026 so far, 12 out 52 requests were from Tumblr. That's 23%.
Remember, for the same period of time, twitter is literally 1% And the internet as a whole has become a hellscape, a lot of my request from 2025 and before were from new people. Now the majority of them are reoccurring clients.
People are not seeing my posts nowdays, social media has become insular. Bla bla bla share so I can see new audiences, but people don't KNOW how much it impacts my work.
I don't need numbers of likes, i need people to SEE my work. So i can get more work.
“It’s digestible” is pertinent!! Okay, for those of you who haven’t researched Crisco for writing fic about gay sex in the mid-late 60s:
The first-edition of The Joy of Gay Sex, published in 1977, declared, “Vegetable shortening may be the best lubricant, since it is not only greasy but also digestible”[4] Such a statement perhaps gives new meaning to the companies boastful declarations that “Its digestible” and “Crisco has been making life in the kitchen more delicious for years.” Similarly, in the 1978 sex manual The Advocate Guide to Gay Health, Crisco even earned an entry in the book’s index. Discussions of the shortening’s use as an anal lubricant indicate its popularity, with statements such as: “The lubricant, typically the cultic Crisco, must be copious.”[5] In fact, Crisco was so synonomus with gay sex that discos and bars around the world took on the name, such as Crisco Disco in New York City, which was one of the premiere clubs during the 1970s and early 1980s. Other clubs or bathhouses, such as Club Z in Seattle, even featured murals with Crisco. Thus, Crisco was conversely also one of many things that led to the formation of gay identities during the 20th century.

Love this post for so many reasons but most especially because this is from all the way back in 2012 and and yet not a single blog in this thread is deactivated
Love the gay history, but i just wanna correct that the “it’s digestible” in the gay stuff was a reference to crisco’s tagline it had been using since 1911, the actual meaning of its digestible is because it’s main competition came from “enhanced” lards which were rendered pig fat mixed with non food thickeners that literally did not digest and caused people to basically just shit out pig cream, since crisco was veggie based the body digested it along with the food
This post is the opposite of net zero information. Not only did I learn several new facts about gay history but also we rounded our way back to the original question of the tag line and the mini obelisks.
So excited to announce and soft launch my graphic novel I’ve been working on! The character of Neuro was originally invented for a TTRPG back in 2020 and has since been reincarnated into a separate narrative that I wanted to tell for quite some time. Animation work has kept it on the back burner, but I’ve been slowly chipping away at it! I’ll soon be launching a new Patreon dedicated to the project and will keep you all updated once that’s ready! I’m so excited! 🌱🤖
First image is some of the new character designs and all other images are from 2020-2022 💚
