After seeing some of yalls behavior towards black fans being upset abt tadc, heres a psa
dont call yourself "woke" if you never stick up or advocate for black people.
This is a huge issue, esp on yt and tumblr.
How are you upset, that black fans are upset about a show made by a racist which has characters voiced by racists, uses a song made by a black man to describe the worst character, whos voice by a guy whos said the n word on MULTIPLE occasions!? Like genuinely make that make sense. This isn't even about how you interpret the song. Its just fucked up.
When black fans express distaste for isnt she lovely (a song written by stevie wonder for his daughter ayesha.) Being used for jax, a person who got kicks out of torturing the other women around her, yt queers are so quick to claim transphobia, and us not understanding jaxs character. No. Thats not what we mean. Like ever. We're upset a song which is a staple in black households, has been gentrified by a fandom that has no respect for us. We're upset because white people constantly try to erase messages about the poc expirience by turning them into messages abt the white queer expirience. Which takes me back to my point abt yt queers being so quick to label themselves as woke.
Woke was a term coined by black people for black people, which did eventually broaden to include all marginalized groups, but like always, white people HAD to take over the movement. Now when a white person says theyre woke, they almost ONLY mean theyre an lgbtq advocate, cus thats one of the only minoritys theyre apart of.
You rarely had to face the consequences of liking media made by people actively erasing your existence. You never had to deal with being a young child of color and basically NEVER being represented in any media. You've never had to be a black fan watching people go above and beyond to prove that "actually black people didn't exist here because -" the SECOND a black character introduced. You never have to deal with people you look up to being outed for being repulsing racists and nothing being done about it. All you lose is someone to follow. Every time someone's outed for being racist, a huge wave of new racists join in and back them up, attacking every poc in sight (relevant example: the guy spamming nega at the tadc section of a con)
The way you "woke" individuals treat black peoples reaction to a racist team claimed a part of culture is absolutely DISGUSTING and IGNORANT and you should all be ashamed of yourselves. This isnt even the first time you people decided to show your true colors. Absolutely absurd.
(And before a ignorant anons even ATTEMPT to flood my askbox with claims of queerphobia completely ignoring my main message, let me clarify. I am in NO WAY hating on the queer community. Im calling out the community of white queers who think being queer is an a pass to be dicks to poc, esp black people.)
