Out for a ride on my Bonneville. #nh #fall #triumph #bonneville #foliage #newhampshire
Just out for a ride.
I’ve had a lot of subjects and happenings I have wanted to write about but little time. Though I do have a lament to weave concerning the quick change in New Hampshire’s weather today.
Hot DAMN did it feel like fall or what?? I’m definitely not complaining, yet the change to the fall season is a very emotional time for me. I suppose I have Seasonal Affective Disorder? Perhaps it is that, and also a mix how beautiful fall can be, and the many fantastic, romantic, and saddening experiences I’ve had in the fall.
I caught myself pausing outside today, allowing my eyes to become unfocused. Glazing over and letting the cool breeze and overcast sky seep into my senses and trigger the memory response.
I have a hard time not living in the past. I romanticize past experiences, which I’ll blame on my INFP personality type. Sights and smells and seasons and sounds create memories that burn themselves into my brain.
If I sit and concentrate hard enough, I can recall those memories and feel all those sense with out them actually being present. I can remember the smell of my kitchen, and some of the delicious or awful things we used to produce. The smell of the very first batch of beer I brewed. The sound and vibration and feel the very first time I play a bass string. The tactile feel of sanding and hand staining mahogany or black walnut. The smell of every lover and the way I could feel their voices vibrate from their chest to mine just as much as I could hear.
I often curse how quickly these things come back to my mind but, I know deep down inside how blessed I am that my senses are so intertwined with the important things that happen in my life.
Thoughts from my head: "Stand your ground" Doesn't mean "Go looking for a fight". Capitalism bites it's nose to spite it's face. Ignorance is bliss. "Critical thinking" means nothing when distracted by big screen TV's and cheap booze. 16 year olds drooling over airsoft guns because they play too much Call of Duty is sickening when I'm carrying a loaded .45 and shopping for a backpack. Rush hour is sad because we're all of us trying to get home so whats the point of raging?

i wont let this video die
this is important
Siiiigh.
Hey look. Funny I just got into an argument with a co-worker about making sexist/misogynistic jokes and it fell on deaf ears... go figure.
Anyway, this is a nice comparative of the double standard we have going on. Though I can totally see some teachers I had in school telling a guy to take off that fucking shirt... I'm sure that's the minority.
I had a pretty productive day today. I expressed to a friend of mine that I really needed to muster some motivation because I have so much I want to do. They simply said to me "You don't need to find motivation... make yourself the motivation." And they were right.
Contact Control cleaner works wonders. Just a few squirts eliminated the scratching in my 4 string bass pickups. I need to readjust the placement of the electric pickups I glued to my upright bass' fretboard (annnnd rewire the control box) BUT... the f-ing glue won't come off. I really need some kind of electric hot knife. I've tried a heated exacto and acetone, yet no luck.
I love being busy.
Because I can, that’s why.
Soon, perhaps.
Things are getting really interesting. I've got a lot of choices a head of me and it is pretty freaking awesome. For years I felt like I was stuck between a rock and a hard place, as overused as that phrase is. An impossible situation was what I described my life to be for quite some time.
What the fuck was I thinking? I just didn't want to make the hard choices. But I have come to find out hard choices kick ass. Sometimes it's like a slap across your face, and it feels good.
But what do I do? Which hard choices do I make? Ride off into the sunset? Stick around and a bust my ass working towards pursuing my passions? Ride off into the sunrise?
I never really thought much of myself when I was younger. I guess sometimes it takes friends needing you around, lovely people wanting to date you, a few near death experiences and telling your boss to eat shit and let you do your job to change your perspective on things.
Dear handful of followers. I am attempting to write a book of sorts detailing my 9 years working for myself with my family. After a few scribbled outlines and journal type entries, I decided I need some advice.
So far it has just turned into journal entries. I feel if I don't develop a form to it, then it will just end up a mess. So question is; what would be an interesting read?
1. Journal-type ramblings of a confused 18-27 year old, struggling with love, family, business ethics and alcoholism.
2. A how to book on what NOT to do when opening your own business.
3. A how to "Almost ruin your relationship with your immediate family/girlfriend" book.
4. A tasteless, tactless book of all the internal struggle and fighting my family went through.
Today, at around 3:30pm, a co-worker and myself informed my boss about the bombings in Boston.
His reply went pretty much like this. "Such a sick world. And we want to let more terrorists into our country. Our president wear's a ring that is inscribed "Allah is the only true god" looks like Allah was down in Boston today..."
I almost projectile vomited in his face. I've come to expect nothing less from this person. Someone who has climbed the 7 highest summits and who plans on sailing around the world. Not having the tact or decorum skills to understand stating something like this in front of people you pay to work for you...
Did I say anything? No. I didn't because I am like everyone else that works for him. Hard up for money, we have become too comfortable in our self imposed serfdom. That's what we are, serfs. Our Lord is a kind, yet xenophobic one. A lord who, like most, expects his serfs to be at his beck and call.
To break our bodies and sacrifice our time, only to be promised one thing and jerked around when we've waited to long to get it. To pick up his wife's trash when he's away. To get his Porsche back and forth from the airport for him. To breach HIPAA, OSHA, DOT and all other manner's of regulations.
I also didn't say anything because I know it will fall on deaf ears. I know that my boss, despite his achievements, has not the capacity to understand the ramifications of stating something like this to his employees.
So what would you do? What would you do when you work for someone who's decorum, business ethics, world views and all around sense of person you can't stand?
We cross our bridges when we come to them, and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.
