Reviewing these apple pies
The caramel walnut apple pie is far superior It’s literally insane. The salty sweet combo is perfect.
The other is nice and buttery but god the walnuts and caramel are elite
Fuck the caramel walnut, kill the crisp apple, marry the vanilla ice cream (reliable and perfect for marriage)
Miso red curry dumpling soup (<3)
i need to post here more enriched yeast garlic sesame ring with like three kinds of flour because i ran out
hi there! an enriched dough is a basic lean dough (flour, water, salt, and yeast) with added ingredients like milk, butter, eggs, or sugar!
in this case, i enriched this dough with eggs and oil!
looking back on this 5 years later is so fun. i can tell now, my dough was stiff and overworked and needed much more kneading and resting. you can tell by the tears along the "grain" of the ring that the gluten strands were ripping instead of knitting together. i would love to retry this someday!

my beautiful birthday bennies
Simple food that feels like home 💚 grilled vegetables with romesco sauce.
Romesco is one of the most typical sauces of Catalan cuisine, particularly in the south of Catalonia. It's made of almonds, hazelnuts, smoke-grilled tomato (nowadays, most households make it with oven roasted tomato instead), garlic, sundried ñora pepper, olive oil, salt, pepper, and vinegar, and often a little bit of toasted bread, all of it crushed in a mortar. Each family can make it a little bit different. It goes very well with meats, fish, and vegetables.

yeah yeah we’ve all heard of garlic and onion. but only true fans know of cilantro and lime
If anyone is following the Red 3 discourse in the wellness community this is a really good breakdown of the facts surrounding the decision to ban it.
Major takeaways:
Zero studies showed Red 3 was carcinogenic in humans
Very few food products actually use Red 3 (most of the lists I’ve seen have products that use Red 40, a different additive)
Comment: this hyper focus on food additives is not actually helpful for the health of the public. Food additives are rigorously studied by many major public health administrations world wide. If they cause negative heath effects, they will be discovered and banned. The push to remove all additives, including vitamins and preservatives, just serves to make food less accessible. Our time would be better spent addressing how much of the US lives in food deserts and how many people don’t have access to minimally processed foods at all. We could address the fact many people don’t have the ability to exercise and live under constant stress. Many people don’t have access to healthcare. Food additives are a scapegoat and just serve to distract from actual systemic issues that exist.
i need to start using this blog again!!!!! i just made coffee cake :]
it came out sort of weird, i think for a lot of reasons. but it's good!
