YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE POWER; DON'T GIVE IT ALL AWAY. ~ Jenna Ryan Some of us were taught that it is not okay to have power. In order to feel safe as a child, we had to give up our power and please our caretakers. In a way our power was stolen. Now today we feel awkward when we're holding power. It can feel like a hot potato! As soon as we realize we have any, we toss it to the nearest person--usually a creep. In our healing we must accept that it's okay to hold onto our power. It's okay that other people defer to us sometimes. It's okay for us to be strong and capable. It's okay for us to require respect and proper treatment. We're safe. We no longer need to give our power away.
