I have seen so many posts about disappointment in Green Day’s performance, but please, let’s read between the lines.

They sang “Holiday” which is an anti-war, anti-fascist protest song! It essentially accuses citizens of being complacent and letting awful things happen. Read the lyrics. Seriously.

“American Idiot,” (although being censored and lyrics being left out during the Super Bowl LX performance), is about a conformist, consuming society manipulated by fear-mongering and propaganda, rather than informed thought. “One Nation Controlled by the Media” —sounds familiar?! *cough cough* Trump’s Administration *cough cough*

They probably were forced to censor and cut things out, but their song picks were clearly very intentional and were meant to be the message.
