How much damage does this do if I hit someone with it
they beat Jesus with that
congratulations to promethazines for making a phrase so good that years later i still remark ‘they beat jesus with that’ upon seeing any kind of lumpy mess
honestly the boundaries between friendship and romance don’t really matter that much like at all if everyone involved is ok with it
like most of what is and isn’t romance is cultural/constructed anyways... you can take and leave what you want with it as long as you maintain boundaries. does that make sense

This is why I have this. Even if they can get the lock opened they can’t push the door open. Got it at Lowes for $20.
reblog for that last bit to save a life
If you’re like me and have a large gap under your front door (someone could take a stick and just poke the leaning stick style door jam out), I recommend the Addalock. It’s small, perfect for traveling, and this lock is CRAZY. It’s so simple but the door does not move.
You can’t see it from the other side, either. It also cost about $20, and I can’t recommend it enough. Easy to travel with, too! Great for Air BnBs!
That’s why I have these on my doors. They get drilled into the side and once its flipped over the door nothing is getting it open. Not the door being unlocked nothing, I’ve unlocked the door and pulled and pushed as hard as I could and it didn’t budge. When I go on a trip this is what I use and when I’m home I leave it on too. No one is getting in here.
Okay I know that it is necessary for many but what do you do if you need medical attention and you’re not able to open the door from the inside? Can the fire department get through these at least?
Yes. The fire department can and will break down your door if necessary, it’s one of the reasons they have axes; it’s entirely possible for door frames to melt/expand/seize or otherwise become unopenable during a house fire but the door itself can be hacked down. Or the window. In rare cases, the wall. Firefighters don’t fuck around with collateral damage when lives are at stake.

It didn't stick, I guess.
Does anybody else also find "unify humanity" to be threatening coming from him
Most definitely.
His idea is for the people of the world to wake up in their amazon house with their amazon spouse.
They eat their amazon brand breakfast and send their kids to the amazon school.
They drive their amazon car to the amazon warehouse and work their amazon job to earn their amazon bucks.
They'll return home to open the amazon packages of amazon groceries delivered that day. Products they may have packed themselves.
They will cook their amazon meal and watch their amazon TV before getting into their amazon bed to sleep before doing it all again the next day.
A lot of major billionaires have pledged to give their wealth away. There's even an "official" pledge for it.
Billionaires have died of old age without completing that pledge.
Sooo...actions speak louder than words
decent vid on billionaires pulling this move to, you guessed it, dodge taxes:
that’s specifically about patagonia guy doing it with his company, but there’s a prescient section about money laundering through “charitable foundations” with shadowy boards etc
if you want a more in-depth treatment linsey mcgoey's no such thing as a free gift is excellent and liberal enough you can recommend it to a normal person and they won't be able to dismiss it as rabble-rousing

Shortstaffing should be illegall
"But what if I can't afford to hire more employees?"
If you have more customers than your employees can handle and you're still not making enough, then you need to sort out your finances. Raise prices if necessary.
Your overhead isn't worth more than your workers' health.
“And if that’s not enough, then just buy more money!”
Listen. If you cannot afford to pay all your employees a living wage and employ a number of people equal to the workload, then you are bad at business management and should consider exploring other career paths. Such as being a cashier.
y’all might be thinking that small businesses would get the short end here. but the thing is, all the small businesses i’ve ever worked for or been involved with, when they didn’t have enough employees to cover the time, the owner worked it themselves, or they closed early/opened late.
the places that consistently shortstaff are big franchises, especially fast food chains. they prey on desperate workers who can’t afford to say no, and use them up like they’re disposable. it’s disgusting and it should be as illegal as hiring 9 year olds or holding paychecks hostage.
“Lean Staffing” is a fucking abomination, and the entire point of it is to artificially inflate profits to boost the bonuses of the executives and boards of directors.
And pulling it on IT, which is depressingly common, is fucking stupid along with being morally reprehensible. Even level-1 helpdesk technicians have enough access to cost the company they support tens of thousands of dollars by accident (which I have seen happen). The executives’ greed prevents them from understanding just how little they want to see what we could do on purpose.
On one hand I’m furious at the term “lean staffing” for trying to whitewash what is an abusive practice that should be illegal.
On the other hand I’m glad they made the distinction between intentional and habitual shortstaffing and accidental shortstaffing.
