Shining. Shimmering. Absolutely radiant. That's how you would describe him. Seungmin was all those things to me. You watched from the bleachers as the star athlete huffed along the track with sweat gleaming across his toned arms and face. He was training for an upcoming match. Despite their matching uniform he still managed to stand out— at least to you. But a slight shift in peripheral and there you see Hyunjin.
More than anything, you were perplexed. It struck you surprised when he confessed. All you could think of was 'Why?'
Not to sell yourself short but you weren't the most popular among the mass of your school— far from it admittedly. Hell... you were unsure how you and Seungmin ever came to be. And some may say that popularity has nothing to do with feelings but you beg to disagree. In school it meant everything. Hyunjin was perfect in a sense. In a way that left your brows furrowed with even more confusion. 'Y/n?' a familiar voice spoke. You were snapped out of your daze to come face to face with your dashing boyfriend with a bright smile on his face (his braces glinting in the sun). He held a towel in his hand and pat his face. "What were you thinking about so hard that you couldn't hear me, huh?' he teased. Now that you weren't sure you should answer. But despite your doubt you said, "Hyunjin."
There was a slight pause between you two. You turned your head up to see his eyes a bit surprised maybe even flustered. "Oh," he mustered out. "And why is that my beautiful and amazing girlfriend?" he pouted as he crossed his arms. Now looking- no- glaring at you with eyes you couldn't quite read. You take a low breath and reach your hand towards his face. He looks at you expectantly with a slight blush on his face. You couldn't tell if it was from the exercise or otherwise. But you quickly grasp his right ear earning a yelp from the helpless boy. And you shout, "He's literally the model on every billboard in sight, man. I'm just kidding!"
You lied about it. Not only to conserve Seungmin's feelings but also Hyunjin's. For their safety. Hyunjin didn't deserve to be put on blast but this white lie somehow feels like it's nibbling out of your conscience already. Seungmin quickly pulled away from your hold and swiftly faced away from you while aiding his now ringing ears. "Gah! You could've just told me that gosh!" he whined. "You know my body needs to be top notch for our game! If you damage anything you'll have to take responsibility..." he licked his lips as he said it. A smile creeped onto your face as your hand again reached towards him, to his chest. And they trailed up and around his neck which made him shudder. "Oh is that so?" you whispered lowly. Your faces were inches apart and got closer and closer. You both closed your eyes and could feel each other's breath. As you were about to make contact you heard,
"Kim! L/n! Get yourself together! School isn't the time for your personal affairs!" A gruff voice pronounced. You and Seungmin immediately jump off each other with frazzled and embarrassed looks on your faces. Your heads lowered and your bodies stiff as the individual came closer. But then an obnoxious laugh then fizzles any stress you once had.
"You guys should have seen your faces!" None other than Felix showed up in front of our faces... the self proclaimed 'school comedian'. His shining smile not faltering even when faced with our unnamusement.
"Maybe you should leave the loverbirds alone, Yongbok" another voice chimed. It was Chan- head of our year. "Dude! I told you not to do that! Ya know I hate being called that in public..." Felix hissed. His ears burnt with embarrassment (or infuriation). Chan stood behind him and chuckled as he swung his arm around him. Leaning his weight on his shorter friend. You weren't that close to the pair but you could see how they had a brotherly bond between them that made you smile.
As the four of you began to conversate, you could feel the lingering stare of the school 'prince' staring into you. You try your best to ignore it for the moment. Just for now.
The bell rings. Its time for class.
