saw on twitter that there’s talk of decolonization in the capital hill autonomous zone, and local native leaders are being brought in to discuss things like environmental justice. granted i have no idea what the plans are and how or what will be worked out between the autonomous zone and the Duwamish tribe, but i’m pretty sure this is good news regardless. unfortunately this is very clearly pissing off the government so god only knows what the response to this will be especially considering previous attempts at decolonization in america

i don’t really know much about decolonization, especially since it seems to mean different things to different people, but it seems like the end game would just be dismantling the colonizing government (America as it exists now) and granting full autonomy to native tribes, right? if it works out in the autonomous zone for any amount of time, i think it could serve a really important purpose as a model for struggles to come

JK Rowling being a terf isn’t like a fun example of this annoying “boomer” being out of touch and politically incorrect; JK Rowling is the MOST WELL KNOWN AUTHOR in the WORLD and she is now actively telling people they should join the terf movement. this is going to cause trans women to die. she’s already buddy-buddy with politicians who have the power to cause trans-related legislation.

JK Rowling being openly a terf and advocating for terf politics and policies on her Twitter is going to have real world effects. this isn’t dumb fandom drama. this isn’t “read another book”. trans women are BEING HURT and are GOING TO GET HURT because of this. i have already had an uptick in terfs in my inbox/notes after this. this isn’t funny. this isn’t meaningless. this is NEWS and it’s SCARY so stop fucking joking about it.

Also people saying “JK Rowling is being transphobic” isn’t people “rediscovering she’s a terf” it’s people saying “LOOK SHE’S STILL DOING THIS WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS” like this woman isn’t going to go away if you just ignore her. She’s not going to go away if we stop talking about her and Harry Potter altogether. She’s still wealthy and famous and has influence on the world. If we want to counter her influence we need to be active about it, not just ignore her and hope she goes away.
