To the siren's cove.
I'm Shadow, your resident Siren, and I figured I'd give you an introduction to both myself and the blog!
First off, since on other platforms people have gotten confused about this, my name is Shadow Siren. As in first name Shadow, last name Siren. If you are calling me 'Siren' you are either referring to me by my last name like we're in the army or you're calling me by my species in which case that's racism (obligatory /j on that last bit lol).
Second off, I am very new to actually using Tumblr despite having been posting bg3 screenshots for a good minute so I have no idea what I'm doing half of the time. I spent ages just reading other blog's intro posts to get an idea of what I should say for this.
Now, to get into it:
• I am 19 (this blog is 18+, ageless accounts or minors will be drop-kicked outta my sight)
• My pronouns are They/she/he mainly, but any work idrc (the gender be fluid). Also, I'm omniromantic + omnisexual/demisexual
• I'm in the EST time zone. America/neg. Also I have a relatively normal sleeping schedule (I will almost always be asleep by 10 at night, on most days by 8:30 at night and I will almost always be up by 7 in the morning, on most days by 5:30 in the morning. Anytime a friend tries to get me to stay up later I go full priest holding up the cross and tossing holy water at them, 'BACK YE FOUL DEMON, THOU SHALT NOT LEAD ME INTO TEMPTATION!' because I am NOT breaking my awesome perfect sleep record for your silly yapping. My highscore must be eternal.)
• I only know English tragically and sadly, if you send me anything in another language it'll probably get badly translated but I'll try my best 🫡
• This blog is basically for me to do whatever I feel like doing. There'll still probably be bg3 screenshots because I love the Gate, but there'll also probably be oc and writing related stuff, art stuff, crafting stuff, stuff about my barbie collection/photography, stuff about miniature collecting and making, and whatever else I feel like doing!
• My inbox is so very open, send me words!!! Many of them or few of them!!!! Silly ones or serious ones!!!!!!! I LOVE WORDS AND ALSO TALKING TO PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I beg of thee, do not be shy I will love your words 🙏(as long as you're not evil)
• Speaking of evil, I need to yap about rules for a second. Bigotry is not accepted on this blog for any reason and against anyone (if you say something racist/homophobic/transphobic about someone who's done bad things, no matter how bad those things were, you're still being a bigot). That includes: racism, sexism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and anything of the like. If you seem like you're making an honest mistake or uninformed about a topic related to this it's more likely that I'll try to inform you about it than immediately blocking you, but if you seem like you're just being a dick to be a dick or you're unwilling to have an open discussion you will be blocked.
• I will talk about oc stuff and fandom stuff on here sometimes, if you have weird or creepy fandom or ship-related opinions you will be blocked. Adding onto this in the next couple points.
• When I say 'weird' fandom or ship-related opinions I mean being upset that people ship something different than you or don't like a character you like or vice versa. I also mean hating on multi-shippers, hating on people shipping LGBTQ+ pairings because 'Not every character has to be gay' (They do actually, I said so💃), and hating on people who ship toxic or evil pairings because 'You're romanticicizing abuse/toxicity/criminal behavior'. Of course, actually romanticizing abuse or glorifying it in any way is not allowed here, but there's a difference between touching on a subject in general for the purpose of telling a story and saying it's a healthy or good thing for irl relationships or that it's in any way defensible.
• Now, when I say 'creepy' fandom or ship-related opinions I mean genuinely approving of the actions of morally reprehensible characters. Liking them as a character is fine, thinking about the nuances of how those morally reprehensible things pushed the character or story forwards is fine, but agreeing with their actions unironically and trying to defend them is wack. This is primarily talking about characters who are murderers or abusers in some way. Pedophilic characters or characters who have sexually assaulted people are fine to think about the nuances of and such but I personally don't understand how one would even like them as a character, in general don't bring characters who have done those things up on my blog.
• Uhhhh I can't really think of much else right now, but if you have any questions (or wanna see my barbie collection or something) feel free to let me know!!!
Oh also here's the tags I'll mostly be using cause I saw other people do that:
• #Sirensongs -> Posts where I'll want more engagement from people looking at the blog (Polls, broad questions for y'all, needing help with video game character creation, that kinda thing)
• #Shadowrambles -> Posts where I just be yapping, this will mostly be used for oc talking or writing related stuff
• #Communitycurrents -> Conversational stuff, asks/reblogs/things that don't fit into other categories
• #Seacolors -> It's like... Watercolors but it's the sea. This will be used for my art posts! (I don't actually tend to use watercolors, mostly alcohol markers and digital stuff)
• #Covecrafting -> This will be used for all of my crafting posts + doll or miniature related stuff because those three things tend to go together for me
• #Sirenofwaterdeep -> This is a reference to what this blog used to be named, and will be used for all of my bg3 posts
As a sort of way to get y'all talking and start settling into this being a proper blog, everyone who follows me/wants to interact should pick a sea creature (made up or real) to embody you here and send it in the comments on this post! If you prefer to be anonymous and just do asks and such, feel free to pick one anyways and just include your sea creature at the beginning of your asks so I know which lil sea dweller you are. Multiple people can pick the same one if y'all are so inclined, after all the sea is full of variety but it's also full of groups of the same creatures. For the purposes of me being able to best refer to you guys though.. If multiple people have the same sea creature the person who selected the sea creature second has to choose between being [insert sea creature] #2, [insert sea creature] but with a different adjective before or after it (like 'silly sea turtle' instead of just 'sea turtle'), or being a different subspecies of that creature (like 'hawksbill sea turtle' vs 'sea turtle')
