You think Rouge’s hearing is so good that she can hear the heartbeats of those close to her?
Imagine Sonic and Team Dark run into each other, Sonic being the typical annoying blue blur just to pick on Shadow, getting him more and more riled up.
Before he finally leaves, he walks up close and boops Shadow’s nose with a wink before racing off. Shadow’s wanting nothing more than to chaos blast him into the ground, but they’re on a mission, so he has to stay put. Once he backs himself off the ledge of disobeying commands, he turns back to Rouge and Omega.
Rouge: “What a cute exchange!"
Shadow scoffs, still seething.
Rouge: "So…you want me to ask him for you?"
Shadow bites back: "Ask him what?!"
Shadow watches her with a still furious but blank expression, not catching on.
Omega: "PERPLEXITY EVIDENT. ROUGE, SPEAK CLEARLY."
Rouge sighs, shaking her head, "Ask Sonic out on a date with you."
Shadow freezes, staring at her as if Eggman had renounced his evil intentions and devoted his work and knowledge in pursuit of world peace. His voice matches his bewildered expression, "What?!"
Rouge: "Oh honey, don’t try to deny it, you know my hearing is immaculate! Every time you see him your heart jumps up in pace. And when he got up and close in your personal space back there, your heart was racing as fast as him!"
Shadow blinks, shocked as a deep red flush forms from his cheeks to his ears.
Rouge: "Aww, look at that blush!"
Omega: "I BELIEVE THE CORRECT PHRASE IS: ‘GET A ROOM’.”
Team Dark fails their mission that day. Their stealth at sneaking into the base completely ruined and alerted the enemy forces inside. Shadow refuses to make a case report no matter how many times he’s commanded to do so, and no one’s game to challenge the Ultimate Lifeform with that aura of rage circling around him like a swirling tempest. Rouge and Omega also won’t offer any insight, even as Omega undergoes repairs and Rouge is forced to seek medical attention. Shadow is completely unharmed, but there’s a faint pink dusting on his cheeks if you manage to look close enough as he storms by.
Omega’s metal body is riddled with dents, scratches, pieces missing, burned and misshapen metal, a few wires hanging out in places, and a shattered “eye” piece. Rouge likewise is covered in cuts, bruises, burns, a sprained wing, a sore hip, and a dislocated shoulder. She’s being fit for a sling that she’ll have to wear for the next several weeks, but even so, she has the biggest smile on her face.
