I love the way tumblr users say "which could mean nothing." It could. I don't think so, but it could.
I wish people were as scared of getting into a car accident as they are of being true crime'd. Maybe then they wouldn't be on their phones while driving.
this video has been going around for a while but the English subtitles didn't match the energy of the spoken French at all. i had to fix it.
reblog to spread this version
Reminder that the term Zio is a slur against Jews coined by former klan grand wizard David Duke. Imagine saying you're just anti-Zionist and calling people antisemitic slurs
Just saw someone say that the entertainment industry seems to be a zionist project. I FUCKING WONDER WHY! I FUCKING WONDER WHY THERE'S SO MUCH JEWISH (NOT ZIONIST BUT JEWISH) INFLUENCE IN THE FUCKING INDUSTRY WE WERE PRACTICALLY FORCED INTO BECAUSE WE COULDN'T GET JOBS ELSEWHERE
i love the phrase "cruel and unusual." not only is what you're doing mean but it's also quite frankly fucking bizarre
This is literally what people are talking about when they say AI will be used to mainstream widely held bigotry. LLMs are trained on frequency and probability -> straight relationships are more well represented in the dataset -> straight pronouns and terms become the "correct" normal.
This is a form of backdoor bigotry from both normative facts (there are more straight than gay relationships) and well represented bigoted beliefs (men are superior to women).
Combine this with the mass of people inclined to believe (and being encouraged to believe) that if AI says and does something it must be correct
Let people grow.
When I was younger I was very right-wing. I meanā¦veryĀ right-wing. I wonāt go into detail, because Iām very deeply ashamed of it, but whatever youāre imagining, itās probably at least that bad. Iāve taken out a lot of pain on others; Iāve acted in ignorance and waved hate like a flag; Iāve said and did things that hurt a lot of people.
There are artefacts of my past selves online ā some of which Iāve locked down and keep around to remind me of my past sins, some of which Iāve scrubbed out, some of which are out of my grasp. If I were ever to become famous, people could find shit on me that would turn your stomach.
But thatās not me anymore. Iāve learned so much in the last ten years. Iāve become more open to seeing things through othersā eyes, and reforged my anger to turn on those who harm others rather than on those who simply want to exist. Iāve learned patience and compassion. Iāve learned how to recognise my privileges and listen to othersā perspectives. Iāve learned to stand up for others, how to hear, how to help, how to correct myself. And I learned some startling shit about myself along the way ā with all due irony, some of the things I used to lash out at others for are intrinsic parts of myself.
You wouldnāt know what I am now from what I was then. You wouldnāt know what I was then from what I am now.
It distresses me deeply to think of someone dredging up my dark, awful past and treating me as though that furiously hateful person is still me. It distresses me to see others dredging up the past for anyone who has made efforts to become a better person, out of some sick obsession with proving theyāreĀ āproblematic.ā
Purity culture tells you that once someone says or does something, they can never go back on it. Thatās a goddamn lie. While itās true that some remain unrepentant and never change their ways and continue to harm others, itās important to allow everyone the chance to learn from their mistakes. Saying something ignorant isnāt murder. Please stop treating it that way. Let people grow.
Still call it out and question it ā¦.
Bruh. No. Listen. Call out what people doĀ now,Ā absolutely. If they havenāt changed, call them out on their record. This post is explicitly not about people who HAVENāT changed. What this post IS saying is, if someone is making an effort to be a good person, donāt go digging around in their past for evidence that they were once for what theyāre now against, or once against what theyāre now for, asĀ āproofā of what theyĀ āreally think,ā because peopleās opinions and beliefs can change.Ā
The obsession with finding shit in someoneās past and then claiming that a questionable or even sordid past negates all possibility of a good present needs to become extinct. Gold-star activism and purity culture are bullshit and we need to collectively reject the fuck out of them.
If someone has changed for the better, donāt harass them about what they were like before they fuckinā changed. Thatās shitty and it needs to stop.
We canāt change the world if we decide people canāt change.
Gold-star activism and purity culture are bullshit and we need to collectively reject the fuck out of them.
We really need to start asking where this purity bullshit came from. Iām notĀ Christian and was not raised Christian but there has been a lot evidence that much of gold star activism and purity culture originated in of evangelical youth movements and then infiltrated progressive left-wing and center-left politics when those youth left their churches but failed to leave behind the black-n-white puritanicalĀ āyouāre going to hell if you stray one inch from the righteous pathā style of thinking they were taught.
I distinctly remember some conversations I had in the late 00s and very early 2010s with long time social justice activists who were baffled and disturbed by the new crop of youth activists who were practicing something that was decidedly NOT social justice despite stealing that phrase from us.
In the decade and a half that has passed since then, all of this gold-star activism and purity culture has done exactly what I predicted back then:Ā empowered the far-right while sowing division everywhere.
Folks. This shit needs to stop.
The extremely important part is that trust should be proportional to how much they actually demonstrate that they have changed. Especially when it comes to power.
A random person who had a moderately shady past or fucked up views before shouldnāt need to flog themselves to show how penitent they are beyond just doing better now, just to be able to live their life in peace, but if someone is campaigning to get political power and all they have to say for their life up to that point being a field of red flags, it isnāt enough for them to say āwell Iām not like that nowā if they havenāt actually achieved anything that makes up for it in the opposite direction.
We canāt allow ourselves to be our own worst enemies. We need an approach that allows for Oskar Schindlers without making excuses for Graham Platners.
I wanna go on a playdate so badly!! Meeting another small one, playing together, maybe trains or jus colouring, us with caregivers gping on a big walk to the forest and running around and playing pretend or tag and jus having so much fun. And then quiet time where we maybe all curl up next zo each other and someone reads loud and we can relax...
Lunch and trading food between each other! And nice drinks in straw cup vs sippy cup.
And playfighting maybe or competitive building soft blocks and then plushies knock it oved and it's all so fun! I want playdates so badly.
I used to have someone I played irl with cuz they were a regressor too nn it was so much fun we would go to the woods with our stuffies nn we would hike around or um um we would put on silly make up like characters from tv and watch our favorite cooking show together buh then they moved across the country and I miss it so much ):
eyes emoji was the perfect invention for nosy people. like š whats going on over here šš i just wanna know #LetMeKnow ššš
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive

30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined

the mind is uncomfortable and the body she is also uncomfortable
iāve warmed up significantly towards the concept of small talk ever since i learned that its sole purpose is to make friendly noises.
as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. itās just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. weāre small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, āiām not here to hurt you. hereās something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know weāre on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. iām being light-hearted and non-threatening right now.ā
small talk isnāt to get to know a person. itās just a greeting to affirm youāre buddies in the universe.
i am motivated by wanting the other person to know i am friendly, so i have gotten pretty decent at small talk when i used to hate it.
the dragon is mocking you for your silly little skimpy armor
āoh its actually super enchanted im protectedā girl your tiddies and thighs are out youāre so biteable
