hi! I am not the OP, but I'll try to answer this to the best of my abilities.

While the writer of erotic fiction does not face the same material risks as an adult film star, the laws that ban pornography endanger both of us - while the erotic writer has a harder time selling their work, and the publishers willing to work with them are likely to pay less and demand more, which might end up with the author in a state of poverty they have previously avoided, the adult film star is forced by the same laws into conditions which might endanger much more than just their paycheck. It is in our best interests to seek solidarity with each other.

However, this often does not happen; the writer seeks to distance themself from the label of pornography by adopting the label of art, which of course instantly enters the murky waters of puritanism and sexualisation.

Notice the second url in this interaction; which group of people depicted in art might be automatically labelled pornographic? Two sex scenes of the same explicitness will be labelled entirely differently depending on if the character's pronouns "match" their genitals, or, for that matter, if the character's pronouns match each other: homosexual desire is still considered more deviant, and therefore more inherently pornographic, in many places.
