Something I think about a lot is the silence in Dan and Phil’s relationship. Think about it, they always share hotel rooms, Dan probably knows the way Phil’s breathing paces when he falls asleep. Phil hears Dan stirring as he gets comfortable to go to sleep. Even if they don’t share a bed, they share the silence, the darkness. Or just at home, sitting in silence in the lounge together, they can hear the other’s breath, and maybe even their heart beat. Phil knows the way it sounds when Dan adjusts his fringe, and Dan can hear the way the cutlery taps agains glass bowls when Phil eats his morning cereal. Being with someone as much as they are with each other means sharing silence, and quiet, and small sounds.
