Ship Names: Estherdon, cobrawitch - I created the name “cobrawitch” for my au, but it’s taken on a life of its own

Esther is 18 for the majority of the AU - fics and snippets may range into her early/mid 20s, and may include some canon-age to explain the backstory of the AU

Abaddon's vessel has been aged up to 18 (timeline depending) via a life-stealing ritual Esther performed using black magic

Abaddon's vessel is named Joseph Henry Marshall - This is a name I chose based on a list of popular names from the 1700s, and will appear in the AU. If they eventually tell us the host's name in canon this may change

Joseph died when Abaddon leapt off the cliff. Both he and his father went to heaven, rather than becoming ghosts, thanks to the father being a priest

Esther and Abaddon are both bisexual

Marital Infidelity - Abaddon is technically married to another demon back in hell, (canonical mention of a mother-in-law) but was married for political reasons and is separated from his spouse by default

Fantasy Age Difference - Abaddon's host has been aged to match Esther's, but he is ancient/ageless

Fantasy Species Difference - Esther is Human, Abaddon is a demon

When people complain about estherdon because they're "family" because he called Kathy his aunt in front of guests or he called Ben "brother" (even though so also did Nathan) I kind of want to laugh because of the scene that implies Nathan is the kids' stand-in dad (not because he's not, but because if we're treating that seriously then what would that imply about Kathy's relationship to Nathan? 🤔🤔)

If anything it makes more sense at least if people are skeeved out about the age thing, (although I don't think this show has a problem with paranormal age gaps, given Ben and Annabelle's relationship and a Twilight shout-out.)

Exactly my point! There's no way to assign true nuclear family roles within this scenario because it just doesn't make any sense lol, it's better to see the term "found family" as "they all love each other like family would/should" rather than "this character is the mom, this one is the dad, these ones are the siblings, these are their roles and no lines can be blurred ever". We're not playing house here lmao

Also yeah, fantasy/paranormal age gaps don't really count imo. I've briefly addressed that before but I'd rather not go too deep into that side of it because that's just harder to explain, but since it's literally impossible to have an incalculable age difference irl that's purely a fantasy element in a story.

If the cartoonishly exaggerated age difference genuinely makes someone feel uncomfortable and they want to avoid the ship because of that, then by all means, I genuinely hope they do what makes them feel comfortable, it's no skin off my ass lol.
