I sometimes feel crazy that women arenât grasping that the material conditions of the female sex globally are still extremely poor. Women speak about âpatriarchyâ as if itâs some ominous, looming figure in the sky. The men in your life are the patriarchy. Men use male solidarity to sexualize, dehumanize, silence women and defend other men. The actions of the patriarchy are sustained by men as individuals.
We are oppressed. We are not in different worlds from the woman in extreme cases of gender apartheid (like Afghanistan, Pakistan, South Africa, Tigray, many more.) Western men are not more benevolent than other men, they donât hate women less than other men. Itâs because women had to save themselves. Women literally committed bombings and arsons for freedom.
The government, and military powers, and religious powers, and the police and courts system, and the medical institution, and the media, and the language we use, and all the money and resources of the entire earth, are still under the control of men for the purpose of serving men.
Of course men would agree that you are empowered in choosing to take their last name, and be feminine, and objectify yourself, and choose to be a stay at home mom, whilst they have power over literal nuclear codes. Itâs an illusion. Itâs false power.
Men hate women. If they are able to, they will hurt you and exploit you, and no one is coming to save you once you are trapped in a relationship with a man. The justice system is not made to save you. Itâs made to protect him. The power imbalance of heterosexual relationships is too vast for me to suddenly ignore all the domination women suffer under and encourage women to be with men.
