I find it incredibly fascinating that Andy Warhol sponsored The Velvet Underground. His artwork at the time was peaking either with his still life portraits (such as the renowned banana on the album cover), or his pop art portraits done for Diana Ross or John Lennon. I believe the album cover became a defining factor in their career despite having other great albums such as “Loaded”. Although Warhol was already established, he did more work regarding album covers in the future.
What’s your favorite song off of Andy Warhol? (Also I’m just practicing writing I just want to be a music journalist/photojournalist and I’d appreciate feedback. Thanks <3)
Here are some mono photographs of the band:
Generally speaking I think it has to be the saddest thing when you’re kinda close to someone, even on the most basic of levels (like you may meet them within a fandom or just in life in general) and then one day you look up and your dont anymore. I’ve watched this happen so many times and you don’t wanna keep reaching out only for like some half-assed conversation, or annoy them. But it’s the same for groupchats too.
Okay so I went to the record store last week, and I really wanted to buy some staples: Led Zeppelin II, Andy Warhol, Moondance, Wish you were here, etc. But I couldn’t because I only had 25 dollars. I left with some of the stuff that I wanted, but I really wanted to know if anyone had any tips on where to find popular albums in record stores. In the one I’ve been to, they sell them new for full price and I feel like it’s pointless to go to a record store and spend full price??only because the thrill is getting stuff that’s delightfully old. I’ve checked goodwill for rare finds but all they sell is cheesy Christmas music, and Elvis.
One thing about witnessing the peak of any musical era whether it’s bands or solo acts, its that it’s so inspiring. It’s amazing to see how some of these people who came from shit eventually got through it and made something of themselves. It doesn’t matter whether it’s classic rock or punk or jazz, It makes me want to try.
I’ve been reading a lot of articles and books about the rise of the hippie movement and such. I realize they really did not give a shit about what they did, as long as they had a good time.
I find it really fucking funny how the fans of current celebrities are so surprised by the drama of “who’s dating who” “who cheated on who” and then they’ll be so butt hurt about such basic Information.
Meanwhile over in the classic rock fandom, or any fandom that took place from the 50’s—the 70’s you can literally find out that someone has committed an ILLEGAL crime and we kinda have to get over it cause it happened 50 years ago.😂 Not to mention the older people criticize you based on who you like as if you did it.
People worry about old Twitter tweets, cheating and lies, meanwhile Phil Spector killed a man 😂
Also happy pride month everyone ❤️
idk it just feels so good when you realize a fandom friend has become ur friend friend—y’know? like instead of only talking about ur common interest u start branching out and talking to each other about your lives, your other hobbies, and it’s even cooler to remain close if one or both of you lose interest in the fandom you met in. your bond, no longer dependent on the mutual love you had for some thing—now lies upon the kinship you’ve built. i think that’s beautiful

i stole this from twitter

@eightiesbabes hehe I feel you, at this point tag games are basically my love language 😌
tag games are my only way of showing people that i want friendship i’m just bad at initiating things
when ur drunk asf @ da club in the restrooms
On another note, I realize that live Aid had some of the most emotional performances but also some of the funniest because you could tell certain bands were drunk as hell.
Jimmy mcCulloch looks so much like Davy Jones.
Does anyone want to be friends or something? We can talk about the 60s and the 70s and conspiracies or whatever. I don’t know—I don’t have a lot of friends who get this sorta thing nor care to. I only have one really awesome friend within this sorta multi-fandom thing.
Led Zeppelin at A&R Studios to continue work on their second album Led Zeppelin II in New York City, 1969.
I really hate the fact that I wanna stop listening to my favorite songs so that they don’t get overplayed and lose their magic but I’m too fucking codependent and attached to them—but here have a cute picture of Brian Jones
