GELBOYS NATION HOW DO WE FEEL??????? WE MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!
"I know what you are." "Say it. Out loud." "Vampire."
INCORRECT BL - 16/? - source
"I'm so happy."
something that gets me about bua is that he knows the exact extent of how much (and for how long) baabin's liked fourmod. he's seen the years of secret tweets, seen him agonise over confessing to him, seen how baabin gave up the chance to see LISA for fourmod, yet he still pulled together all the courage he had in him to confess to baabin anyway. he KNEW there was a huge chance he'd be rejected bc of how deep baabin's history with fourmod ran…but he still did it anyway on the off chance it would be reciprocated. he really stuck to the same principles and advice that he gave baabin about fourmod during the concert. truly the bravest of them all 😭
i think that's what makes bua's confession scene the most heartbreaking to me out of anything in this series so far. to put yourself out there so openly and honestly...to be that vulnerable knowing that you're very likely not going to the get the answer you want, and that nothing might ever be the same again? not to mention, in front of ALL of them? i'm genuinely so proud of him, and it makes me love bua as a character so much. he was so anxious about it inside that it manifested in him physically peeing himself on the spot bc it was that emotionally terrifying for him.
we've seen how all the other main characters either constantly repress their feelings, or are so non confrontational it leads to them self-sabotaging themselves and creating this mess of a cycle time and time again. but i've noticed that bua tends to be the catalyst that gets them out of being stuck in this pattern bc of how direct he is compared to all the others. in ep 5, when he kisses chian to figure out the confusion of his feelings, it's definitely one of the messiest things he could have done, but it's also what leads them both to their realisations: for bua, it's something that he's always known. he doesn't and will never like chian romantically. for chian, it's something that he's known deep down for a long time but never admitted to himself until it finally gets to that point. he no longer likes bua, only fourmod now.
he also almost does this with baabin too in ep 4 by encouraging him to confess to fourmod. only baabin doesn't go through with the confession, instead repressing his feelings for fourmod yet again bc he doesn't feel like he stands a chance against chian (at least at that point in time)...therefore continuing to stay stuck in the same pattern as always.
it's only when they're finally honest with themselves (chian and bua in this ep) that they can really start to actually break that cycle. at the moment, it feels like most of them are almost there. chian and bua are at least...though, from the preview, there's definitely more heartbreak for bua to come. however, as he's way more confrontational than fourmod is, it doesn't seem likely that he'll let whatever no status relationship he potentially ends up having with baabin to go on for as long as fourmod did with chian. in ep 6, whenever he was with baabin, it was really interesting to me how he was constantly checking in with him...trying to figure out if their feelings were the same. if they were on the same wavelength. always communicating, even though baabin never gave him what he wanted to hear back.
i feel like it's pretty clear that baabin likes him back though. the obvious symbolism being the way he double layered his socks not just to hide his nails from fourmod, but as a way of hiding his own burgeoning feelings for bua from himself (repressing, yet again). he's repeating the same cycle that chian went through when he first started having feelings for fourmod, but was still too hung up on bua to let him go. everything is just flipped for baabin now. liking bua, but still being hung up on fourmod now that there's even a sliver of a chance that fourmod could possibly like him back. but like chian before him, it's only when he's honest with his own feelings that things can change for him (and the rest of them trapped in this messy love square).
man tries to flirt with fake childhood enemy who also was his crush (GONE… OKAY?)
all this show does is stress me out and i still keep coming back for more!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you give me one last chance? Please. All I ask is just one last chance.

Do you have feelings for me now? Oh, no. I just wanted to try that.
GELBOYS (2025) | Episode 6
that charging gel ep making me feel even more insane with gelboys theories bc i had a feeling that things were gonna head in this direction but baabin having his own secret twitter account where he tweets all about his crush on fourmod...oh sweetie... 😭
and now bua knowing the extent of how deep baabin's crush on fourmod goes too (and how its been years)?? baabin's told him, he's seen all the tweets, knows baabin left a blackpink concert where he had the chance to see his BIAS for fourmod...he's the only person in baabin's life that knows all of this about him. the only person that baabin can confide in about his feelings for fourmod, and he's actively reaching out to him trying to comfort him (in that bua way of his)...which will only bring them closer together...oh, this mess really is just starting 👀
bua continues to be the most interesting character to me bc he's still so mysterious (NEED his ep so we can get more insight into his mind and feelings). but i'm already so, so intrigued by his dynamic with baabin...and their tweets have made me even more so. from what we've seen so far, bua seems very upfront and direct about his feelings. baabin, on the other hand, keeps his cards close to his chest. he's got a private twitter where he fanboys over fourmod, a secret fourmod folder for their line conversations, he secretly travels to the station even though he lives close to school just so he can spend more time on the bts with fourmod...but no one knows about any of this but him. bua is the only person that he's been honest to about everything, and bua's encouragement and motivation is also the reason that baabin almost ended up confessing to fourmod. the way they're basically polar opposites when it comes to how they deal with their feelings makes them and their potential friendship/relationship so fascinating to me. esp if bua ends up becoming a shoulder that baabin can lean on (and rant to). honestly, the next ep can't come fast enough!!
crying at how this ended up being the opposite of everything i thought (bua being the one to confide in baabin and be comforted by him instead) 😅

GELBOYS and Idol Fans/Stan Culture Representation
less about the romantic entanglements of these characters, what gelboys have stunned me so far is the authencity in which they display genz, more specifically the portrayal of genz who are fans of tpop/kpop. here are some of my favorite tidbits of episode 4 where i thought the representation of a kpop stan culture is IMMACULATE
1. Asking a fortune teller on the most (seemingly) trivial thing like which ticket price, zone for a concert, whether the idol is gonna look in your direction
K-pop concerts in Thailand are some of the GRUESOME ticketing wars, there are proxy services who offer to buy tickets for you (they'd be charging 40-60% of your ticket price too but they're not scalpers (kind of actually, but that's a whole can of worms for another day)). So if you're pressing to grab the ticket yourself, it's brutal. Baabin ticketing with another friend Fourmod does increase a little bit of his chances, but not by much. Luck has to be on their side.
If there is even a chance that choosing the less competitive ticketing zone, ticketing price can get you that ticket, it's definitely good shot to make. And this is just one of the realest portrayals of this phenomenon I've ever seen in TV.
It may not seem a big deal to non kpop concert goers but to be able to record a fancam where the idol looks and smiles in your direction is a huge deal. I know it seems kind of silly, sometimes kpop stans would fill up their whole album with fancams, perhaps of the entire concert, and not even upload anything afterwards, or just uploading a tiny clip of that moment where the idol turns in their direction to their 24 hour IG story. But that's literally us, in all its authenticity. Even if the idol truly can't see us fans from their stage where the lights are blinding them, that one look can bring immeasurable and unexplainable happiness to a kpop stan.
2. Buying/trading concert tickets on Twitter/X
This is no new phenomenon. But as "girl who booked all her flights/accomodation to thailand for a kpop concert, failed the ticketing war, had to go on twitter to find reseller of ticket for another concert so she wouldn't feel like she had wasted her trip', yeah this hits a little bit close to home through the buying/reselling concert tickets at match price on Twitter representation.
3. Personalize your every item to match your favorite kpop group's aesthetic
aka your room looking like a shrine of your k-pop idol. so this is pretty much self explanatory. nothing like owning kpop albums and having so much posters from those albums that you plaster them on your walls, have photocards of your favorite idol attached to your bag, color-themed all of your personal items like guitar case, headphones, clothes, carry your lightstick everywhere with you (especially for mv premiere/streaming day)
4. Relying on your favorite kpop idol for emotional support
Now THIS is real representation. I don't think it's ever highly talked enough about how emotionally dependent on kpop idols, fans are. And no, not in the sense of delusional y/n fangirl/fanboy an idol, but rather in the sense that they're a comfort presence, a y/n bestie perhaps. Albeit, this may be just a fraction of us who stans kpop more fanatically than your average kpop listeners. But I felt extremely seen in this moment where in his happiness moment, Baabin went to his favorite kpop album jumping for joy and when he's at his lowest, he also went to the same shop, to his Lisa, his safezone.
We take photocards of our idols and share our meals with them, their music is there for us in our every moment, social media has made it closer than ever for fans to feel connected with our idols be it through Bubble, Weverse DM, IG Broadcasts... even if it's more a one-way communication service from idols to fans. Nonetheless, these idols bear huge presence in many fans' lives, sometimes to the point where they become an emotional and moral support pillar for many.
