Please share if possible to raise awareness. Sorry if this is off topic. There is currently extremely deadly flooding in West Africa.
This is in part due to climate change messing up the balance of the dry and rainy seasons. The floods have a ripple effect and are also causing landslides and other disasters.
People have died, and will continue to do so. Here are some news Articles: The Guardian RFI The Sun Nigeria PM News Nigeria Here are some charities you can donate to to help: Nigeria: The Borgen Project Ghana: NADMO Côte d'ivoire: Disaster Relief
Togo and Benin are also severely affected. Please consider donating if you’re able or helping spread the word. I have a slightly longer post on my blog that I'll be updating if anyone needs more information.
Thank you for sharing! If you wanted to donate to a cause, consider one of these!
What I wanted to put but couldn't fit was, "JUST BECAUSE I LIKE BINGHE DOESN"T MEAN IM GAY! EVERYONE LIKES BINGHE!"
He's very cute, I quite like this little freak. He's wearing the Binghe fan shirt over his normal robes, if that wasn't clear
I must admit, I do get extremely irritated at how strong people will defend white racists of their actions on here (usually shielding behind other marginalization) and throw out words like "harassment" and "digital lynching" and will try to gaslight users of color into thinking that we just... Didn't see what happened. That we don't understand racism when we experience it.
Especially when I see myself and other more vocal users of color get harassed daily, and have to always be on guard with their social media, and no one cares because everyone prioritizes white voices here and spend no time with the rest of us via an actual, unspoken segregation of this app. But somehow we don't know what racism and harassment looks like.
So when you say "hey, this person's opinion was not an okay thing to say/their actions were not okay due to racism and I am not coddling that", you get hit with a bunch of people who believe that having "More White Voices must mean True and that Your People Did Not Experience what y'all did... Because the white people around me said it went this way! You're just Mean!!!"
Like ofc that's the perspective you heard, those are the only people you're ever around on here, and it doesn't benefit you to understand what racism actually looks like in action. So. Just irritating af.
Bc ain't no way I've experienced the range of directed racism on here, damn near every two days this year on this app, and I gotta sit here and listen to how someone being racist is actually the True Victim. That people who spend all their time la di da happy and unbothered and surrounded by fellow racists and/or complicit yet ignorant bystanders... Experienced having thet racism called out and suddenly THEY are "harassed".
How thin is your skin, that we gotta do this every day and swallow the pain, but you scream in agony the moment someone points out the truth. Okay. To quote my parents, I can give you something to cry about.
This post is not about the damn circus people, btw. This post is about every situation the shoe fits, because it's really that common.
Being asexual and racist is embarassing as fuck. Being racist at all is obviously embarassing as fuck but the amount of racism and especially antiblackness i have been seeing from asexuals recently is obscene.
One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.
And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.
Edit: why are you all too scared to repost this. Cmon. Be vocal about being against racism

What do you find most annoying about yt people and yt queers?
That if they don't start actively practicing antiracism, it's going to kill us all, themselves included. But temporary comfort for the few the many seems to mean far more than temporary discomfort of a few for the benefit of all.
The trolley problem seems to be the favorite go to argument for everyone until it's time to be the "victims" (which they still wouldn't be, because loss of privilege is not a loss of rights).
See: the person who just reblogged my post thinking that Black and brown women and their medical torture under white supremacy were acceptable collateral for the medical treatment and gynecology of the future. I'm sure if you were the ones under the knife, vaginas cut open, silver staple sutures, no anesthesia, up to thirty times for someone else's benefit (not yours because you're not human) you might reconsider why your life and your lack of consent was considered the cost.
This point is reiterated in many of the books we've discussed, especially the ones in book club, but also on my book list on my website 👍🏾 antiracism includes deconstructing Whiteness!
And before someone says anything, I know this argument is broader than the one they made. My point here is that it sure is easy to brush off the past as necessary for medical advancement when YOU weren't the ones being risked and/or sacrificed for that advancement. The entire book we're reading discusses the Black fear of medicine due to a history of maltreatment and experimentation, all for the sake of the improvement of the very medicine you take for granted now.
Modern medicine is a marvel, yes! I will never be ungrateful! But at the same time, I'm not going to brush under the rug what got us here, and how it wasn't all mandatory, it wasn't all necessary, a lot of it was cruelty committed on Black bodies in the name of humanity that they weren't considered to be. You wanna honor the value of your medicine, acknowledge what it took!

This Juneteenth I wanted to explore what African-American liberation would look like on Turtle Island beyond reparations. I took inspiration from my Gullah-Geechee ancestors who maintained their indigenous African lifeways and culture in the face of chattel slavery and cultural genocide.
This painting includes a character of mine who I lovingly refer to as Sister Liberation. She represents a continuum of Black women’s militant resistance against misogynoir and colonialism outside of motherhood. I call her Sister Liberation because she “ain’t nobody’s mama”.
Pictured here is Sister Liberation adorned with cowrie shell jewelry and her signature rifle (adorned with the Akan Adinkra symbols for justice, freedom, and wisdom from the past). In her left hand, she holds stalks of wild rice. In front of her, a Gullah-Geechee sweetgrass basket is adorned with Aya, the Adinkra symbol for survival and endurance. The basket is filled with indigo leaves and okra.
Prints and posters of this piece are now available on my printful!
Happy Juneteenth, y’all! If you like this piece, consider purchasing a print or poster of it from my printful. Each sale helps keep me afloat as a full-time university student. I am a double Critical Race/Ethnic Studies and Electrical Engineering Major with research concentrations in racialized labor exploitation in technology development and sustainable technology development. And what is it we just talked about in book club?? THIS.
@creatingblackcharacters hey, which book was it? I know Medical Apartheid is the one coming up, but I can't find the one you're all currently on
If it was April 22nd, that book was Mediocre by Ijeoma Oluo. We're on Medical Apartheid currently, actually. Just started today.
We won’t ever forget you.
Oluwatoyin Salau, murdered in cold blood in June, 2020. She was 19.
my biggest word of advice to anyone scared to post their work/ocs/involve themselves in creative spaces online is to earnestly get interested in other people. be kind to others, like/reblog their work, tell them what you like about their work, get to know them as people.
this isn’t to “weasel” your way into anything or having ulterior motives or whatever. if you become friends with someone then that’s great! but there’s always something very personal about posting any kind of creative work. we’re all trying our best to connect with each other and the best way to get comfortable is to get to know others and show up as yourself. 🫶🏾
in light of events in belfast rn, im gonna post this fundraiser
We are raising funds to support people who have been attacked, displaced and traumatised in racist attacks in Belfast.
