Fictional characters are conceptual objects, not sapient beings. Stop treating them like they can think or want anything. Stop harassing people who "hurt" them.

The safety and enjoyment of real flesh and blood people is and always will be more important than the "safety" of a collection of lines on paper or a screen. Fictional characters are narrative tools, let's treat them as such when discussing them outside of the stories instead of pretending they have the capacity to care about anything.

We can rip these characters apart one second, brutally hurt them, and give them the worst bad ending death we could comprehend, we can even pretend they know we are the ones directing it, and the next second we could give them a fluffy, sugar and rainbows, no hurt/all comfort story where everyone is immortal and oblivious. Even though we would direct the in-character responses to be different so it makes sense to us, they would carry the exact same actual weight and take the exact same actual toll on the character. Which is none. Nada. Neutral.

Fictional characters are not real people deserving of respect, they don't need our compassion because they (as objects) can't do anything with it, but the people who write them do deserve both respect and compassion. Your idea of how any given character should be used isn't law. Don't Like Don't Read and all that, and leave real people alone.

Just felt like putting this out here but i just wanted to say that funny enough even when i was a hardcore anti back in my anti days there was just something that felt pretty silly to me about looking up a fictional character’s age or rather having a serious wholehearted discussion about a cartoon character’s age like even when i was an anti i would do those things too of course but anytime i did there was this really silly and embarrassed but faint feeling that i always felt right after but i always ignored it.

Thinking of making more pro ship ocs . This particular one takes place in the 80s and its a bully/victim kinda romance between a guy and a girl, the guy being the bully and a 19 year old and the girl continuing to be a victim of bullying and a 13 year old. In this problematic pairing the guy becomes one of the people who bullies her till he falls in love with her despite her ugliness and dorkiness and also protects her. The title of the story will be “DWEEBGIRL” ..... yes its cringey i know.
