I keep seeing people confused about the ending, asking questions about whether it means Elsa is immortal or that ice is an element. But this line is the key.

Elsa’s not a spirit - she’s one side of a bridge. And Anna is the other. 

That’s why they both had to play a role in saving the day. Disney made a movie about two female leads, two sisters, who are both important and heroic in their own ways. Elsa with her magical powers, and “(extra)ordinary” Anna with her all-so-human heart full of love and determination.
