This person was getting a little too close for comfort for Yukio – not really for his sake (though the close roximity was beginning to become a little uncomfortable…), but for the console in his hands. Other people laying their hands on it was against the rules and he didn’t want this kid getting their fingerprints all over it unintentionally.
He took a step back and held the game a little closer to his center. Hopefully that would help.
“It’s called a JSP,” Yukio stated blandly. Despite his focused being split now between the boy and his game he still flawlessly continued on the game’s mission without faltering, thumbs pressing buttons as if he had memorized every step he needed to take.
"You play games on it. Like a Joystation but smaller.“
He didn’t really pay any attention to the step taken back nor did he act upon it, eyes focused on that tiny game and ears open so he could fully listen. And despite the fact that the explanation he’d been given was dully stated, he was still interested even if this stranger wasn’t. He’d never heard of this thing, after all...!
“Ohhh! So if I had a Joystation game-- like Greed Island or something-- I could play it on that thing, too??”
Of course Greed Island was one of the only games he’d ever played, so it was natural for him to use that one as an example. He wasn’t really focused on the examples, anyway-- staring at the console’s screen as the blonde tapped buttons almost rhythmically; it really was neat how skilled the guy must be...
“--Woaaah, you’re really good at that...!!”
Maybe he should’ve let his first question be answered before he complimented Yukio like that... Whoops.

♱ – Much to the enhancer’s dismay, Kurapika wasn’t the least bit convinced. He was pretty obvious about it too, readily implementing a ‘I’m silently judging you’ expression to better highlight his incredulity.
“I’m getting the impression that you don’t want to live to see twenty,” He commented impassively, crossing his arms over his chest. “Although I can’t honestly say that I wouldn’t have done something similar, had it been me. Still, that doesn’t excuse your reckless behavior in the least bit. You should apologize to Leorio too, he hasn’t gotten over the initial shock yet.”
Ah– that look again. Along with the routine scolding that he’d heard about a thousand times, but that didn’t mean it was wrong. No; he knew very well all of it was true and that he probably shouldn’t have gone as far as he had in that fight, but… He didn’t really remember much of it to start with.
But he was definitely okay now..!! So everything was fine!
“I know..” He was still gonna finish those exercises later. No doubts about that one. But to show he was genuinely sorry for the worry that was inevitably his fault, he’d add one last thing:
“I really am sorry, Kurapika..! And I’ll make sure to apologize to Leorio when I see him!”
digital-missiles:
– Oops.
Yukio had gotten used to people bumping into him a long time ago, and he hadn’t even looked up from his PSP this time – only twisting a bit with the other’s momentum to make sure he didn’t lose his balance or topple over. It happened quite often, actually. He was small, other people were big. Do the math.
It was so common that Yukio didn’t really react anymore. Except for the fact that they usually continued on their merry way without so much of an apology. The gamer didn’t particularly care, mind you, but it was strange to suddenly have that very same person begin to speak to him.
Oh. An apology. His head lifted from his game, bored stare cast in the direction of he speaker.
“… It’s fine.”
Wow. That was a really monotonous look and voice -- not that it was really any of his business anyway.. Actually, it wasn’t even his business to ask about that PSP in the blonde’s hand, but he was about to do that anyway! Curiosity may have killed the cat, but he was definitely still alive and breathing.
So without another moment wasted, he made his move.
“Hey!
--What’s that in your hand?”
His genuine interest showed through as he leaned forward a bit, seeming to inspect the console. The screen had some kind of game on it; he only assumed it was something Killua had to know about! Ohh, or maybe he was finding out about it before his friend..? Even cooler..!!
voltgod:
To be honest it was like the time apart from each other hadn’t happened at all now that they were together again, acting like they hadn’t parted ways to begin with. Killua was practically beaming as he dragged his best friend down the street and around the corner, cheeks beginning to ache with the amount of smiling he was doing and not a single other care in the world.
They had paused only for a second, staring at the sign of the restaurant in anticipation before he blinked in surprise. Suddenly it was Gon dragging him around, but he was fine with that. Perfectly fine.
He sat and scooted in a bit on the opposite side of his friend, far more focused on Gon now that they were seated and could relax a bit more than on the food just a few feet away that was waiting to be eaten. The waiter interrupted his thoughts, asking for drink preferences (Killua ordered a chocolate milkshake, of course – it was a special day!) before leaving them once again. He’d wait a bit before grabbing something to munch on, there was too much excitement for him to focus on anything else but his friend.
“I thought you were still on Whale Island!” he exclaimed happily while attempting to get some sort of an explanation from Gon. The last Killua had heard was that he had returned to his home and his family soon after the meeting with his father, but he very well could have been wrong. It had been difficult keeping in touch with everyone while he’d been showing his little sister around anyway.
“Did you go anywhere with your dad? What did you talk about at the World Tree?”
So many questions! He wanted to know everything, just as he was sure Gon wanted to know everything Killua had done the past few years. Killua leaned forward in his seat, elbows resting against the table in front of them and chin cupped in his palms to listen attentively.
Man, he had so many questions and yet now he was the one being interrogated! That was so unfair, but... It was Killua’s birthday and all, so he’d just let it slide this time.
“I was! Mito-san really packed me down with work... I had to make up a whole bunch of lessons for school!” That had been a dark time; he’d go so far as to call it the dark ages. Uhg -- it was absolutely terrible! Wake up, work, eat, work some more, maybe get to play around a little if he’d done enough, shower, eat, work, sleep, and repeat. But that was over now, and it was time to answer the next question.
He shook his head at that one; he and Ging hadn’t really adventured anywhere. But the thought of their meeting still brought a smile to his face.
“We didn’t go anywhere, but after I climbed to the top of the World Tree, we did talk a lot! I told him all about my adventures, and he told me a lot about his, too!” He was going to elaborate a lot more, but... He had a lot of questions to ask! And yet, when he looked at Killua it seemed more of an explanation was wanted.
“--He also told me about the outside world! He even said that the World Tree hadn’t even grown its full height because it didn’t have enough nutrition!” Yeah, that would be enough for now!
Good thing, too, since the waiter was already coming back with the drinks -- a chocolate milkshake for Killua and water for Gon. They could go to the buffet and get their food anytime now, but right as the waiter was leaving he stopped them.
“Hey, wait!” He seemed to be smiling a little too much. “Guess what?” Oops, he wasn’t really going to give them time to ask what-- “It’s my best friend Killua’s birthday!!" If at all possible his smile widened and the waiter seemed to smile a little too-- if this was like other places he’d been to there would be employees gathering to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ now!
And it was..!! This was great! A few people seemed to gather in front of their table as they began to sing, and of course Gon joined in, smiling brightly at the assassin.
“...Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Killua, happy birthday to you..!!!”
A little bit of clapping from the employees and of course some from Gon was present, too, but it didn’t take long for the people to leave so that they could get back to their normal work. Those questions he’d wanted to ask could come later -- right now, he was completely focused on wishing Killua the happiest birthday ever! (even if some of the workers hadn’t quite gotten his name right during the song)
He leaned forward a bit with his elbows resting on the table so that he (hopefully) wouldn’t be too loud.
“Hehe-- Happy birthday Killua!!”
ofpinsandneedles
“..Illumi??”
Mmm. He’d be much happier going about his day without this little meeting happening, but there wasn’t anything he could do about it now. And he knew better than to try walking away -- if Illumi had come there would be no leaving until it was settled.
Well, at least he had a pretty good idea of what this was about.
“--Killua’s fine.”
lvalma:
gon what are you trying to say

Don’t mind him, just walking along peacefully on a street. Walking, walking-- oh. Whoops, that was a shoulder bump. And now he’s turned to look at the stranger (who hadn’t even looked up from whatever it was they were holding, mind you). Mmm... He’ll still apologize, but mostly for the sake of starting a conversation to figure out what it was the guy was holding. It looked cool.
“--I’m sorry for bumping into you! I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
voltgod:
What– Something was on his cheek. It was warm and quick, like skin or–… Or…… He couldn’t think of anything else. But Gon was suddenly closer and–
Oh.
… Oh.
“E-Eh?! GON–!!”
Did he just… Did he just get kissed? Cheeks felt a lot hotter than before, and reflexively Killua took a large, scrambled step backward to distance himself again. Embarrassing..!!
“What–… What was that for?!”
... Oh. That had definitely worked. Maybe even a bit too well, but he wasn’t one to question the victory he’d just gotten. Especially when there was no way it could be turned into a loss.
“Wow--! You really do fluff up just like a cat!!”
Honestly, this was the most he’d ever seen Killua fluff. Point absolutely proved.
voltgod:
No— Don’t— Crap.
Even he felt it that time, his face getting hotter the closer Gon got to his face and whatever it was Gon said his hair did. He instinctively leaned back and forced his gaze to the side to avoid embarrassing himself further.
Too bright.
“I– I don’t know what you’re talking about!! You’re seeing things, Gon!”
Seeing things. Uh-huh, sure. The only problem with that one was that he’d seen it too many times so of course he knew that was a lie. And it wasn’t like he was about to let Killua win this one; he even had a plan.
“I’m not just seeing things!"
Time to prove his point further. There he goes, placing a small kiss on Killua’s cheek. And now to see the result (probably something along the lines of another fluff, but he’s not sure since he hasn’t tried this before).
