I can not express how terrible of an idea it is to give an automatic death penalty to rapists and pedophiles. I want them dead too but the death penalty would just make things worse for victims

- men are already left off the hook because “they have a bright future,” which means if the punishment is the death penalty the already low number of rape convictions would plummet

-men are just going to kill their victims. If there’s a chance the young girl you just kidnapped and raped goes to the authorities and you do end up getting convicted you’re going to die. In order to stop this from happening the man is just going to kill the girl.

-women are already shamed when they come forward for “ruining men’s lives,” making the punishment death is going to cause people to blame the woman for killing the man

-Most instances of csa are performed by older family members. No young child is going to tell anyone if it means their uncle Tommy is going to get killed for it

-similarly, if the child does tell, the parents are less likely to do something because they don’t want the family member dead. In jail and punished, yes, but dead no.

-public outrage against women for “making it up” and “false accusations” would be significantly worse, going back to my first point. Because if men are going to die because of it they’re going to lose their shit any time anyone is accused

I’m all for women killing their rapists and abusers, those fucks don’t deserve to be alive. But by making the punishment death you’re just hurting the victims that might otherwise have a means of justice through imprisonment
